Lc 19, 11-28
En aquel tiempo, como ya se acercaba Jesús a Jerusalén y la gente pensaba que el Reino de Dios iba a manifestarse de un momento a otro, él les dijo esta parábola:
"Había un hombre de la nobleza que se fue a un país lejano para ser nombrado rey y volver como tal. Antes de irse, mandó llamar a diez empleados suyos, les entregó una moneda de mucho valor a cada uno y les dijo: 'Inviertan este dinero mientras regreso'.
Pero sus compatriotas lo aborrecían y enviaron detrás de él a unos delegados que dijeran: 'No queremos que éste sea nuestro rey'.
Pero fue nombrado rey, y cuando regresó a su país, mandó llamar a los empleados a quienes había entregado el dinero, para saber cuánto había ganado cada uno.
Se presentó el primero y le dijo: 'Señor, tu moneda ha producido otras diez monedas'. Él le contestó: 'Muy bien. Eres un buen empleado. Puesto que has sido fiel en una cosa pequeña, serás gobernador de diez ciudades'.
Se presentó el segundo y le dijo: 'Señor, tu moneda ha producido otras cinco monedas'. Y el señor le respondió: 'Tú serás gobernador de cinco ciudades'.
Se presentó el tercero y le dijo: 'Señor, aquí está tu moneda. La he tenido guardada en un pañuelo, pues te tuve miedo, porque eres un hombre exigente, que reclama lo que no ha invertido y cosecha lo que no ha sembrado'. El señor le contestó: 'Eres un mal empleado. Por tu propia boca te condeno. Tú sabías que yo soy un hombre exigente, que reclamo lo que no he invertido y que cosecho lo que no he sembrado, ¿por qué, pues, no pusiste mi dinero en el banco para que yo, al volver, lo hubiera recobrado con intereses?'
Después les dijo a los presentes: 'Quítenle a éste la moneda y dénsela al que tiene diez'. Le respondieron: 'Señor, ya tiene diez monedas'. Él les dijo: 'Les aseguro que a todo el que tenga se le dará con abundancia, y al que no tenga, aun lo que tiene se le quitará. En cuanto a mis enemigos, que no querían tenerme como rey, tráiganlos aquí y mátenlos en mi presencia' ".
Dicho esto, Jesús prosiguió su camino hacia Jerusalén al frente de sus discípulos.

While people were listening to Jesus speak,
he proceeded to tell a parable because he was near Jerusalem
and they thought that the Kingdom of God
would appear there immediately.
So he said,
"A nobleman went off to a distant country
to obtain the kingship for himself and then to return.
He called ten of his servants and gave them ten gold coins
and told them, 'Engage in trade with these until I return.'
His fellow citizens, however, despised him
and sent a delegation after him to announce,
'We do not want this man to be our king.'
But when he returned after obtaining the kingship,
he had the servants called, to whom he had given the money,
to learn what they had gained by trading.
The first came forward and said,
'Sir, your gold coin has earned ten additional ones.'
He replied, 'Well done, good servant!
You have been faithful in this very small matter;
take charge of ten cities.'
Then the second came and reported,
'Your gold coin, sir, has earned five more.'
And to this servant too he said,
'You, take charge of five cities.'
Then the other servant came and said,
'Sir, here is your gold coin;
I kept it stored away in a handkerchief,
for I was afraid of you, because you are a demanding man;
you take up what you did not lay down
and you harvest what you did not plant.'
He said to him,
'With your own words I shall condemn you,
you wicked servant.
You knew I was a demanding man,
taking up what I did not lay down
and harvesting what I did not plant;
why did you not put my money in a bank?
Then on my return I would have collected it with interest.'
And to those standing by he said,
'Take the gold coin from him
and give it to the servant who has ten.'
But they said to him,
'Sir, he has ten gold coins.'
He replied, 'I tell you,
to everyone who has, more will be given,
but from the one who has not,
even what he has will be taken away.
Now as for those enemies of mine who did not want me as their king,
bring them here and slay them before me.'"
After he had said this,
he proceeded on his journey up to Jerusalem.

Meditacion:
Jesús usó la parábola que leemos hoy para darse a conocer a sus contemporáneos, la cual permite tres posibles respuestas. Una sería reaccionar con incredulidad y rechazar el Señor; otra sería reconocerlo, pero por miedo u otra razón, no aceptarlo sinceramente ni dar el fruto que él desea recoger; la tercera sería aceptar el reinado de Jesús, trabajar con dedicación, y dar el fruto espiritual para el cual hemos recibido los dones y talentos que Dios nos ha concedido.
Si queremos llevar una vida fructífera, tenemos que recibir a Jesús, unirnos a su muerte y resurrección, y dejar que él actúe en nuestro interior. Solo así podremos subordinar nuestros planes a la voluntad perfecta de Dios para nuestra vida, con toda la abundancia de sus bendiciones.
Esta actitud engendra prioridades, objetivos y acciones personales que verdaderamente están al servicio de Dios. Nuestra capacidad, inteligencia o situación en la vida no son, en último término, las que van a determinar el resultado; lo que Jesús espera es que le respondamos de acuerdo con lo que nos ha dado, porque nuestras acciones son las que demuestran cuáles son las motivaciones del corazón.
La respuesta que el Señor espera de todos sus fieles es una de fe, oración diaria, lectura de su Palabra, examen de conciencia y participación en la vida sacramental y comunitaria de la Iglesia. Todo esto, no las emociones, es lo que creará un ambiente propicio en nuestro ser donde el Espíritu Santo pueda habitar, actuar y revelarnos más a Cristo.
Si respondemos al amor de Dios de esta manera, conoceremos el glorioso momento en que él nos diga: “Muy bien; eres un buen empleado” (Lucas 19, 17).
“Señor Jesús, enséñame a aceptar de corazón el plan que tienes para mí, de modo que yo pueda participar en la cosecha espiritual que se avecina.” Amen

Jesus used the parable we read today to make his contemporaries known, which allows three possible answers. One would be to react in disbelief and reject the Lord; another would be to recognize him, but for fear or another reason, not sincerely accept him or bear the fruit he wishes to gather; the third would be to accept the reign of Jesus, work with dedication, and give the spiritual fruit for which we have received the gifts and talents that God has granted us.
If we want to lead a fruitful life, we have to receive Jesus, join his death and resurrection, and let him act within us. Only then can we subordinate our plans to God's perfect will for our lives, with all the abundance of his blessings.
This attitude engenders priorities, goals and personal actions that are truly at the service of God. Our capacity, intelligence or situation in life are not, ultimately, those that will determine the outcome; what Jesus expects is that we respond to him according to what he has given us, because our actions are what demonstrate what the motivations of the heart are.
The answer that the Lord expects from all his faithful is one of faith, daily prayer, reading of his Word, examination of conscience and participation in the sacramental and community life of the Church. All this, not emotions, is what will create an environment conducive to our being where the Holy Spirit can inhabit, act and reveal more to Christ.
If we respond to God's love in this way, we will know the glorious moment in which he tells us: “Very well; you are a good employee ”(Luke 19, 17).
“Lord Jesus, teach me to accept from my heart the plan you have for me, so that I can participate in the coming spiritual harvest.” Amen
