No tengan miedo

Lc 21, 5-11

En aquel tiempo, como algunos ponderaban la solidez de la construcción del templo y la belleza de las ofrendas votivas que lo adornaban, Jesús dijo: "Días vendrán en que no quedará piedra sobre piedra de todo esto que están admirando; todo será destruido".

Entonces le preguntaron: "Maestro, ¿cuándo va a ocurrir esto y cuál será la señal de que ya está a punto de suceder?"

Él les respondió: "Cuídense de que nadie los engañe, porque muchos vendrán usurpando mi nombre y dirán: 'Yo soy el Mesías. El tiempo ha llegado'. Pero no les hagan caso. Cuando oigan hablar de guerras y revoluciones, que no los domine el pánico, porque eso tiene que acontecer, pero todavía no es el fin".

Luego les dijo: "Se levantará una nación contra otra y un reino contra otro. En diferentes lugares habrá grandes terremotos, epidemias y hambre, y aparecerán en el cielo señales prodigiosas y terribles".

While some people were speaking about
how the temple was adorned with costly stones and votive offerings,
Jesus said, "All that you see here–
the days will come when there will not be left
a stone upon another stone that will not be thrown down."

Then they asked him,
"Teacher, when will this happen?
And what sign will there be when all these things are about to happen?"
He answered,
"See that you not be deceived,
for many will come in my name, saying,
'I am he,' and 'The time has come.'
Do not follow them!
When you hear of wars and insurrections,
do not be terrified; for such things must happen first,
but it will not immediately be the end."
Then he said to them,
"Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
There will be powerful earthquakes, famines, and plagues
from place to place;
and awesome sights and mighty signs will come from the sky."

Meditacion:

Estamos en los últimos días del año litúrgico y los textos de la celebración eucarística pertenecen a un género llamado apocalíptico, género hoy en desuso excepto en algunas sectas o en grupos que se alimentan de apariciones y mensajes frecuentemente muy discutibles. Pero fue un género muy socorrido en el judaísmo de la época de Jesús y en el cristianismo de las primeras décadas. Y no era sólo un modo de expresión, sino toda una mentalidad histórico-religiosa: contaban con una muy próxima intervención de Dios sobre la historia, intervención que pondría fin a una época y que tendría espectaculares manifestaciones cósmicas.

Hoy leemos en el Evangelio que, en vez de ofrecer pistas para responder a estas preguntas, Jesús dio un simple consejo: No se preocupen. “Que no los domine el pánico.” Pero no fueron solamente las preguntas sobre su Segunda Venida las que provocaron que él diera esta respuesta, pues, en la Última Cena, el Señor había aconsejado a sus discípulos: “No se angustien ustedes” (Juan 14, 1), y en el curso de su ministerio, dijo a todos sus seguidores: “El Padre, en su bondad, ha decidido darles el Reino.”

En todas las situaciones, frente a cualquier preocupación, Jesús ofrece las mismas palabras: “No se angustien; mi Padre está con ustedes. Yo nunca los dejaré ni los abandonaré.” Hoy, cuando el año litúrgico de la Iglesia se acerca a su fin, Jesús nos dice que no tengamos miedo. Posiblemente presenciarás cosas perturbadoras, puedes enterarte de noticias aterradoras, pero no permitas que te abrumen.

Sería maravilloso que pudiéramos iniciar el nuevo año litúrgico aferrándonos a esta simple frase: “No voy a tener miedo.” ¿Cierto?

Un día el mundo va a terminar. Cuando eso suceda, él velará para tú sepas todo lo que necesitas saber. Por mientras, procura no preocuparte; permite que la paz de Cristo se afiance en tu corazón para que tu paz sea de ayuda a quienes te rodean, porque tu propia paz les dirá: “No tengan miedo.”

“Amado Padre celestial, te entrego todos mis temores. Llévame de la mano, Señor, y no tendré miedo.” Amen

We are in the last days of the liturgical year and the texts of the Eucharistic celebration belong to a genre called apocalyptic, genre today in disuse except in some sects or in groups that feed on appearances and frequently very debatable messages. But it was not only the questions about his Second Coming that caused him to give this answer, because, at the Last Supper, the Lord had advised his disciples: "Do not be distressed" ( John 14, 1), and in the course of his ministry, said to all his followers: "The Father, in his goodness, has decided to give you the Kingdom."

In all situations, in the face of any concern, Jesus offers the same words: “Do not be distressed; My Father is with you. I will never leave you or forsake you. ”Today, when the liturgical year of the Church is nearing its end, Jesus tells us not to be afraid. Possibly you will see disturbing things, you can find scary news, but don't let them overwhelm you.

It would be wonderful if we could start the new liturgical year by clinging to this simple phrase: "I will not be afraid."

One day the world will end. When that happens, he will watch for you to know everything you need to know. In the meantime, try not to worry; Let the peace of Christ be strengthened in your heart so that your peace will be of help to those around you, because your own peace will tell them: "Do not be afraid."
