Pan de vida

Jn 6, 35-40

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a la multitud: “Yo soy el pan de la vida. El que viene a mí no tendrá hambre, y el que cree en mí nunca tendrá sed. Pero como ya les he dicho: me han visto y no creen. Todo aquel que me da el Padre viene hacia mí; y al que viene a mí yo no lo echaré fuera, porque he bajado del cielo, no para hacer mi voluntad, sino la voluntad del que me envió.

Y la voluntad del que me envió es que yo no pierda nada de lo que él me ha dado, sino que lo resucite en el último día. La voluntad de mi Padre consiste en que todo el que vea al Hijo y crea en él, tenga vida eterna y yo lo resucite en el último día’’.

Jesus said to the crowds,
“I am the bread of life;
whoever comes to me will never hunger,
and whoever believes in me will never thirst.
But I told you that although you have seen me,
you do not believe.
Everything that the Father gives me will come to me,
and I will not reject anyone who comes to me,
because I came down from heaven not to do my own will
but the will of the one who sent me.
And this is the will of the one who sent me,
that I should not lose anything of what he gave me,
but that I should raise it on the last day.
For this is the will of my Father,
that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him
may have eternal life,
and I shall raise him on the last day.”

Meditacion:

Hoy meditamos desde La Palabra entre nosotros

"En el Evangelio vemos que, cuando la gente empezó a hacerle preguntas, Jesús les dijo que él era el pan vivo que satisface todo tipo de hambre. ¿Cómo podemos entender estas palabras?

Primero, leamos la Escritura. En varios lugares dice el Antiguo Testamento que la Palabra de Dios y su sabiduría son un pan vivo que da vida al pueblo escogido (v. Proverbios 9, 1-6; Eclesiástico 24, 1). En la oración que Jesús enseñó a sus discípulos, el Padre Nuestro, la frase que dice “nuestro pan de cada día” encierra todo lo que necesitamos recibir (Mateo 6, 11). Finalmente, en la Última Cena, el Señor escogió el pan como señal e instrumento del regalo más grande de todos: su vida en la Sagrada Eucaristía (Lucas 22, 19-20).

El Señor dijo a la multitud que él era el don que el Padre celestial concede con agrado a su pueblo, y dado que este don comunica la vida abundante del cielo, los que acuden a Jesús no volverán a tener hambre jamás, porque ya no les faltará nada.

Acudir a Jesús significa creer que Dios lo envió a salvarnos de la muerte y comunicarnos la vida en toda su plenitud. Dios desea que sepamos que esta es su obra. Pero no podemos acudir a Jesús a menos que el Padre nos llame, y despierte en nosotros la esperanza de su misericordia y su amor (Juan 6, 44). Jesús prometió que no perdería a nadie de los que el Padre le diera, sino que a todos los resucitaría a la vida nueva. ¡Qué maravilloso es que Dios nos dé el don de la fe para bendecirnos en forma tan hermosa y extraordinaria!

Por el hecho de que Jesús es el pan de vida y porque no rechaza a nadie, podemos aproximarnos confiadamente a él y presentarle todas nuestras inquietudes, imperfecciones, sufrimientos y temores. Si él puede satisfacer el deseo de verse libre de la muerte que hay en todo corazón humano, ¿cuánto más eficaz es y cuánto más deseoso está de atender también las necesidades que tenemos en esta vida?

“Jesús, Señor nuestro, acudo a ti para recibir tu vida; lléname, Señor, y prepárame para alabarte y saludarte dignamente cuando regreses en gloria.” Amen

Today we meditate from The Word among us

"In the Gospel we see that when people started asking him questions, Jesus told them that he was the living bread that satisfies all kinds of hunger. How can we understand these words?

First, let's read the Scripture. In several places the Old Testament says that the Word of God and his wisdom are a living bread that gives life to the chosen people (v. Proverbs 9, 1-6; Ecclesiastical 24, 1). In the prayer that Jesus taught his disciples, the Our Father, the phrase that says "our daily bread" contains everything we need to receive (Matthew 6, 11). Finally, at the Last Supper, the Lord chose bread as a sign and instrument of the greatest gift of all: his life in the Holy Eucharist (Luke 22, 19-20).

The Lord told the crowd that he was the gift that the heavenly Father pleases with his people, and since this gift communicates the abundant life of heaven, those who come to Jesus will never hunger again, because they no longer nothing will be missing.

Going to Jesus means believing that God sent him to save us from death and to communicate life in all its fullness. God wants us to know that this is his work. But we cannot go to Jesus unless the Father calls us, and awakens in us the hope of his mercy and love (John 6:44). Jesus promised that he would not lose anyone of what the Father gave him, but he would raise all of them to new life. How wonderful it is that God gives us the gift of faith to bless us in such a beautiful and extraordinary way!

Due to the fact that Jesus is the bread of life and because he does not reject anyone, we can confidently approach him and present to him all our concerns, imperfections, sufferings and fears. If he can satisfy the desire to be free from the death that is in every human heart, how much more effective is he and how much more willing is he to attend to the needs that we have in this life?

“Jesus, our Lord, I come to you to receive your life; Fill me, Lord, and prepare me to praise and greet you with dignity when you return in glory. ” Amen
