Fe para el camino

Mt 10, 7-15

En aquel tiempo, envió Jesús a los Doce con estas instrucciones: ‘Vayan y proclamen por el camino que ya se acerca el Reino de los cielos. Curen a los leprosos y demás enfermos; resuciten a los muertos y echen fuera a los demonios. Gratuitamente han recibido este poder; ejérzanlo, pues, gratuitamente.

No lleven con ustedes, en su cinturón, monedas de oro, de plata o de cobre. No lleven morral para el camino ni dos túnicas ni sandalias ni bordón, porque el trabajador tiene derecho a su sustento.

Cuando entren en una ciudad o en un pueblo, pregunten por alguien respetable y hospédense en su casa hasta que se vayan. Al entrar, saluden así: ‘Que haya paz en esta casa’. Y si aquella casa es digna, la paz de ustedes reinará en ella; si no es digna, el saludo de paz de ustedes no les aprovechará. Y si no los reciben o no escuchan sus palabras, al salir de aquella casa o de aquella ciudad, sacúdanse el polvo de los pies. Yo les aseguro que el día del juicio, Sodoma y Gomorra serán tratadas con menos rigor que esa ciudad”.

Jesus said to his Apostles:
“As you go, make this proclamation:
‘The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.’
Cure the sick, raise the dead,
cleanse the lepers, drive out demons.
Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give.
Do not take gold or silver or copper for your belts;
no sack for the journey, or a second tunic,
or sandals, or walking stick.
The laborer deserves his keep.
Whatever town or village you enter, look for a worthy person in it,
and stay there until you leave.
As you enter a house, wish it peace.
If the house is worthy,
let your peace come upon it;
if not, let your peace return to you.
Whoever will not receive you or listen to your words--
go outside that house or town and shake the dust from your feet.
Amen, I say to you, it will be more tolerable
for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment
than for that town.”

Meditacion:

Todo el capitulo 10 del evangelio de Mateo esta dirigido a sus apostoles y como debian ejercer su mision. Al final del capitulo dice que "terminado de dar estas instrucciones, Jesus se fue".

Ayer leiamos los nombres de los 12 apostoles, uno por cada tribu de Israel y el primer mandato, "Vayan en busqueda de las ovejas perdidas". Luego habra tiempo de proclamar la salvacion a todo mundo, pero comencemos por los que tenemos mas cerca, por nuestra familia y amigos.

En este segundo dia de instrucciones, Jesus les pide que ejerzan la fe que tienen.

El servicio en su obra y el éxito de ella están en proporción directa con la fe del misionero. Jesús quería que ellos aprendiesen esta importante lección. Muchas veces podemos ver lo difícil que es establecer una obra misionera, requiere esfuerzo, recursos humanos, materiales y financieros, y que lo que se tiene no es suficiente para cumplirla. Pero lo cierto es que la obra del Señor se sostiene por fe y es Dios el que provee para ella. En este momento Jesús les dijo que no se proveyeran de nada, pero más tarde cuando sus días estaban por terminar les cambia la instrucción: “Y a ellos dijo: Cuando os envié sin bolsa, sin alforja, y sin calzado, ¿os faltó algo? Ellos dijeron: Nada. Y les dijo: Pues ahora, el que tiene bolsa, tómela, y también la alforja; y el que no tiene espada, venda su capa y compre una. Porque os digo que es necesario que se cumpla todavía en mí aquello que está escrito: "Y fue contado con los inicuos; porque lo que está escrito de mí, tiene cumplimiento”, (Lucas 22:34-37). Obviamente la lección fue aprendida; pero ahora enfrentaban una nueva situación donde los exhortaba a hacerse de sus provisiones para huir y mantenerse: Pues ahora, el que tiene bolsa, tómela, y también la alforja; y el que no tiene espada, venda su capa y compre una. La sugerencia de comprar una espada es algo polémica para la mayoría de comentaristas, ya que en ningún momento se cree que Jesús estaba pidiendo a sus discípulos que se defendieran ofensivamente.  Este cambio de instrucción nos muestra que dependiendo los tiempos y circunstancias, la estrategia de la obra misionera puede cambiar, pero la fe será determinante en todo momento.

Hermanos, fortalezcamonos en la fe cada dia, yendo a misa, orando, leyendo la Biblia y, por sobre todo, ejerciendo el amor fraterno que nos une unos con otros, cada dia. El amor que hoy derramemos sobre el mundo sera el que Jesus nos devuelva mañana.

"Amado Señor fortalece mi fe y el amor a mis hermanos" Amen

The entire chapter 10 of the Gospel of Matthew is addressed to his apostles and how they should exercise their mission. At the end of the chapter it says that "finished giving these instructions, Jesus left."

Yesterday we read the names of the 12 apostles, one for each tribe of Israel and the first mandate, "Go in search of the lost sheep." Then there will be time to proclaim salvation to everyone, but let's start with those closest to us, with our family and friends.

On this second day of instructions, Jesus asks them to exercise their faith.

Service in his work and its success are in direct proportion to the missionary's faith. Jesus wanted them to learn this important lesson. Many times we can see how difficult it is to establish a missionary work, it requires effort, human, material and financial resources, and that what one has is not enough to accomplish it. But the truth is that the Lord's work is sustained by faith and it is God who provides for it. At this moment Jesus told them not to provide themselves with anything, but later when their days were ending the instruction changed: “And he said to them: When I sent you without a bag, without a saddlebag, and without shoes, did you lack something ? They said: Nothing. And he said to them: Well now, the one who has a bag, take it, and also the saddlebag; and he who has no sword, sell his cloak and buy one. Because I tell you that what is written must still be fulfilled in me: "And it was numbered with the wicked, because what is written about me has fulfillment" (Luke 22: 34-37). Obviously the lesson was learned; but now they faced a new situation where he exhorted them to get their provisions to flee and maintain themselves: Well now, the one who has a bag, take it, and also the saddlebag; and the one who does not have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one. The suggestion to buy a sword is somewhat controversial for most commentators, as at no time is it believed that Jesus was asking his disciples to defend themselves offensively. This change of instruction shows us that depending on times and circumstances, the strategy of missionary work can change, but faith will be decisive at all times.

Brothers, let us strengthen ourselves in the faith every day, going to Mass, praying, reading the Bible and, above all, exercising fraternal love that unites us with each other, every day. The love that we pour out on the world today will be the one that Jesus gives us back tomorrow.
