Mt 10, 24-33

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus apóstoles: “El discípulo no es más que el maestro, ni el criado más que su señor. Le basta al discípulo ser como su maestro y al criado ser como su señor. Si al señor de la casa lo han llamado Satanás, ¡qué no dirán de sus servidores!

No teman a los hombres. No hay nada oculto que no llegue a descubrirse; no hay nada secreto que no llegue a saberse. Lo que les digo de noche, repítanlo en pleno día y lo que les digo al oído, pregónenlo desde las azoteas.

No tengan miedo a los que matan el cuerpo, pero no pueden matar el alma. Teman, más bien, a quien puede arrojar al lugar de castigo el alma y el cuerpo.

¿No es verdad que se venden dos pajarillos por una moneda? Sin embargo, ni uno solo de ellos cae por tierra si no lo permite el Padre. En cuanto a ustedes, hasta los cabellos de su cabeza están contados. Por lo tanto, no tengan miedo, porque ustedes valen mucho más que todos los pájaros del mundo.

A quien me reconozca delante de los hombres, yo también lo reconoceré ante mi Padre, que está en los cielos; pero al que me niegue delante de los hombres, yo también lo negaré ante mi Padre, que está en los cielos’’.

“No disciple is above his teacher,
no slave above his master.
It is enough for the disciple that he become like his teacher,
for the slave that he become like his master.
If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul,
how much more those of his household!

“Therefore do not be afraid of them.
Nothing is concealed that will not be revealed,
nor secret that will not be known.
What I say to you in the darkness, speak in the light;
what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops.
And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul;
rather, be afraid of the one who can destroy
both soul and body in Gehenna.
Are not two sparrows sold for a small coin?
Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your Father’s knowledge.
Even all the hairs of your head are counted.
So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
Everyone who acknowledges me before others
I will acknowledge before my heavenly Father.
But whoever denies me before others,
I will deny before my heavenly Father.”

Meditacion:

Según los psicólogos, las reacciones más comunes ante una situación aterradora son tres: (a) decidirse a enfrentar la situación y tratar de resolverla, (b) paralizarse y no hacer nada o (c) huir del problema. En otras palabras, luchar, quedarse tenso o huir.

En el Evangelio de hoy, el Señor Jesús les dice a sus discípulos tres veces “No tengan miedo,” refiriéndose a los temores que pudieran impedirles llevar a cabo su primera misión apostólica. Primero, les dice que no dejen de anunciar el “secreto” del Reino a pesar de la oposición que encontrarían (Mateo 10, 26). Luego, les reafirma que el Padre es el único que tiene poder ilimitado, así que ellos no deberían preocuparse de sus detractores (10, 28). Finalmente, les dice que su Padre conoce cada detalle íntimo de sus vidas y que jamás los abandonará (10, 29-31).

Jesús no estaba simplemente consolando a sus discípulos. Les estaba comunicando verdades en las que ellos pudieran confiar cuando fueran presa del temor y quisieran abandonar su misión. El Señor los estaba dotando de las verdades fundamentales de su identidad y de cuánto los cuidaba el Padre, verdades que ellos podían usar como escudos para defenderse y como motores que les ayudaran a avanzar en la fe.

Todos hemos tenido temores que nos han hecho paralizarnos o nos han tentado a abandonar la carrera. El temor es una parte normal de nuestra vida, y hay momentos en que es una reacción emocional saludable; pero nunca debemos permitir que el temor nos impida avanzar junto al Señor.

Cuando te encuentres en una situación alarmante, intenta hacer un alto, respira profundamente y recuerda las verdades de tu fe. Piensa en la cruz de Cristo y su resurrección; recuerda el amor y la protección de tu Padre, y declara que el Espíritu Santo vive en ti. Recuerda también que le perteneces a Cristo y que él nunca te abandonará. ¡Recuerda, recuerda, recuerda!

Al practicar este santo recuerdo, sentirás que el Señor está a tu lado, y encontrarás valor para luchar contra tus temores y dar el siguiente paso, cualquiera sea tu situación. Dios no quiere que te dejes dominar por el miedo, sino que deposites toda tu confianza en él.

“Señor Jesús, ayúdame a aferrarme a mi fe cuando me siento inseguro. Señor, confío en tu amor infinito.” Amen

According to psychologists, the most common reactions to a terrifying situation are three: (a) decide to face the situation and try to resolve it, (b) freeze and do nothing, or (c) run away from the problem. In other words, fight, tense up or run away.

In today's Gospel, the Lord Jesus tells his disciples three times "Do not be afraid," referring to fears that may prevent you from carrying out your first apostolic mission. First, it tells them not to stop announcing the "secret" of the Kingdom despite the opposition they would encounter (Matthew 10:26). Then, he reassures them that the Father is the only one with unlimited power, so they should not worry about their detractors (10, 28). Finally, he tells them that their Father knows every intimate detail of their lives and that he will never abandon them (10, 29-31).

Jesus was not simply comforting his disciples. He was communicating truths to them that they could trust when they were seized with fear and wanted to abandon their mission. The Lord was endowing them with the fundamental truths of their identity and how much the Father cared for them, truths that they could use as shields to defend themselves and as engines to help them advance in faith.

We have all had fears that have paralyzed us or have tempted us to abandon the race. Fear is a normal part of our life, and there are times when it is a healthy emotional reaction; but we must never allow fear to prevent us from moving forward with the Lord.

When you find yourself in an alarming situation, try to stop, take a deep breath and remember the truths of your faith. Think of the cross of Christ and his resurrection; Remember the love and protection of your Father, and declare that the Holy Spirit lives in you. Remember also that you belong to Christ and that he will never abandon you. Remember, remember, remember!

By practicing this holy memory, you will feel that the Lord is at your side, and you will find the courage to fight your fears and take the next step, whatever your situation. God does not want you to be dominated by fear, but to place all your trust in him.

Lord Jesus, help me to hold on to my faith when I feel insecure. Lord, I trust your infinite love. ” Amen
