Vida sencilla

Mt 11, 25-27

En aquel tiempo, Jesús exclamó: “¡Te doy gracias, Padre, Señor del cielo y de la tierra, porque has escondido estas cosas a los sabios y entendidos, y las has revelado a la gente sencilla! Gracias, Padre, porque así te ha parecido bien.

El Padre ha puesto todas las cosas en mis manos. Nadie conoce al Hijo sino el Padre, y nadie conoce al Padre sino el Hijo y aquel a quien el Hijo se lo quiera revelar’’.

At that time Jesus exclaimed:
“I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth,
for although you have hidden these things
from the wise and the learned
you have revealed them to the childlike.
Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will.
All things have been handed over to me by my Father.
No one knows the Son except the Father,
and no one knows the Father except the Son
and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.”

Meditacion:

En el Evangelio de hoy,  Jesús le da gracias al Padre por el modo sorprendente de actuar, tan distinto a nuestra lógica humana, que le hace revelar a la gente sencilla los secretos del Reino. La gente pobre y sencilla, los que tenían que luchar contra el hambre y sus enfermedades fueron quienes supieron captar mejor el mensaje de Jesús. Qué difícil se nos hace aceptar este criterio fundamental del Evangelio que es en lo pequeño, en lo pobre, en lo sencillo donde se revela el Dios de Jesús. En aquellos que al no tener nada están más abiertos para aceptar el mensaje del Señor. Los sabios y entendidos en el tiempo de Jesús eran personas que lo tenían todo asegurado, muchos llegaban a creer de no necesitar de Dios. Lo sorprendente del mensaje de Jesús es que cambia esa idea,  poniendo en el centro a los pequeños.

La adhesión a la persona de Jesús y su mensaje deberían ser seguidas por  sus seguidores[ hoy, estas mismas actitudes vitales de su Maestro que no se deja llevar por las apariencias, que mira el corazón. Hacer nuestro este «Magnificat de Jesús» nos debería ayudar a vivir con ese espíritu que tiene la gente sencilla de apertura, de naturalidad, de sinceridad, de confianza en el Señor. Y que nuestro corazón sea capaz de reconocer en los más pobres y humildes lo mejor que tiene la Iglesia como Pueblo de Dios, por son ese «lugar teológico» donde Dios se nos sigue revelando también a nosotros hoy. ¿Me dejo sorprender como Jesús de la forma siempre novedosa de actuar de Dios?

In today's Gospel, Jesus thanks the Father for the surprising way of acting, so different from our human logic, that it makes him reveal to simple people the secrets of the Kingdom. The poor and simple people, those who had to fight hunger and its diseases were the ones who knew how to better understand Jesus' message. How difficult it is for us to accept this fundamental criterion of the Gospel that is in the small, in the poor, in the simple where the God of Jesus is revealed. In those who, having nothing, are more open to accept the Lord's message. The wise and knowledgeable in the time of Jesus were people who had everything assured, many came to believe that they did not need God. The surprising thing about Jesus' message is that it changes that idea, putting the little ones at the center.

Adherence to the person of Jesus and his message should be followed by his followers [today, these same vital attitudes of his Master who is not carried away by appearances, who looks at the heart. Making this "Magnificat of Jesus" our own should help us to live with that spirit that simple people have of openness, naturalness, sincerity, and trust in the Lord. And that our hearts be able to recognize in the poorest and humblest the best that the Church has as the People of God, because they are that "theological place" where God continues to reveal himself to us today. Do I allow myself to be surprised, like Jesus, by God's always new way of acting?
