Lc 9, 1-6

En aquel tiempo, Jesús reunió a los Doce y les dio poder y autoridad para expulsar toda clase de demonios y para curar enfermedades. Luego los envió a predicar el Reino de Dios y a curar a los enfermos.

Y les dijo: “No lleven nada para el camino: ni bastón, ni morral, ni comida, ni dinero, ni dos túnicas. Quédense en la casa donde se alojen, hasta que se vayan de aquel sitio. Y si en algún pueblo no los reciben, salgan de ahí y sacúdanse el polvo de los pies en señal de acusación”.

Ellos se pusieron en camino y fueron de pueblo en pueblo, predicando el Evangelio y curando en todas partes.

Jesus summoned the Twelve and gave them power and authority
over all demons and to cure diseases,
and he sent them to proclaim the Kingdom of God
and to heal the sick.
He said to them, “Take nothing for the journey,
neither walking stick, nor sack, nor food, nor money,
and let no one take a second tunic.
Whatever house you enter, stay there and leave from there.
And as for those who do not welcome you,
when you leave that town,
shake the dust from your feet in testimony against them.”
Then they set out and went from village to village
proclaiming the Good News and curing diseases everywhere.

Meditacion:

San Pío de Pietrelcina (1887–1968), cuya fiesta se celebra hoy, es uno de los santos más conocidos de la Iglesia. Este sacerdote italiano es reverenciado como un confesor compasivo y por los milagros que Dios hacía por medio de él; además de que tuvo los estigmas, las marcas de las heridas de Cristo. Con prédicas sobre Jesús y palabras de sabiduría, el Padre Pío tocó millones de vidas, a pesar de que raramente salió del monasterio. Pero, ¿qué había detrás de todo esto? En una palabra, generosidad.

La vida del Padre Pío es un ejemplo perfecto de alguien que proclamó el Reino de Dios. La clave es la generosidad. Si estás dispuesto a compartir lo que Dios te ha dado, él te concederá más dones y bendecirá a más personas a través de tu servicio. Solo piensa en el Padre Pío, que pasó su vida en un monasterio ordinario; de igual modo, incluso en tu mundo ordinario, Dios te dará oportunidades de anunciar su Reino; y si respondes con fe, encontrarás cada vez más oportunidades.

In his fifty-one years of ministry, he never took a vacation; He simply dedicated himself to giving himself to others, and God rewarded his generosity by pouring out many gifts on him, a humble friar.

But when we read something about Padre Pio, perhaps we think "I can never be like him." But don't worry, you're not supposed to be exactly like him. Padre Pio, and most of the saints in the Church, teach us that God uses anyone who generously responds to his call. When we accept the gifts God gives us and share them, he gives us even more. The gifts that the Lord gives us are different for each one. The life of Padre Pio is not like that of Saint Francis Xavier, and his is not the same as that of Mother Teresa, whose life, in turn, is not like that of the young mother of four children who bears them. to the daily Mass or of the boarding school that is dedicated to teaching languages ​​to immigrants.

The key is generosity. If you are willing to share what God has given you, he will give you more gifts and bless more people through your service. Just think of Padre Pio, who spent his life in an ordinary monastery; likewise, even in your ordinary world, God will give you opportunities to announce his Kingdom; And if you respond in faith, you will find more and more opportunities.
