En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: “He venido a traer fuego a la tierra, ¡y cuánto desearía que ya estuviera ardiendo! Tengo que recibir un bautismo, ¡y cómo me angustio mientras llega!
¿Piensan acaso que he venido a traer paz a la tierra? De ningún modo. No he venido a traer la paz, sino la división. De aquí en adelante, de cinco que haya en una familia, estarán divididos tres contra dos y dos contra tres. Estará dividido el padre contra el hijo, el hijo contra el padre, la madre contra la hija y la hija contra la madre, la suegra contra la nuera y la nuera contra la suegra’’.

Jesus said to his disciples:
“I have come to set the earth on fire,
and how I wish it were already blazing!
There is a baptism with which I must be baptized,
and how great is my anguish until it is accomplished!
Do you think that I have come to establish peace on the earth?
No, I tell you, but rather division.
From now on a household of five will be divided,
three against two and two against three;
a father will be divided against his son
and a son against his father,
a mother against her daughter
and a daughter against her mother,
a mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law
and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”

Meditacion:
Qué diferente el Jesús del Evangelio de hoy con tantas predicaciones que insisten en presentar la imagen de un Jesús tan dulce y tan suave, que “no mata ni una mosca”. El Jesús del Evangelio es un hombre apasionado por el Reino de su Padre y un hombre que no ha venido a traer un mensaje adormecedor a sus seguidores, sino a despertarlos a la fuerza irrefrenable y transformadora del amor. Por supuesto que Jesús no quiere la división de las familias ni de la sociedad, pero sabe que, cuando una persona se encuentra de verdad con Él, no queda indiferente: su vida se transforma y sus valores le llevan a luchar por lo que considera valioso, al punto de cuestionar incluso tradiciones y lazos que perecían tan sagrados e incuestionables como son los familiares. El Evangelio es una luz que todo lo ilumina; su claridad trae nuevos criterios de vida y, si los tomamos en serio, se convierten en un fuego que nos purifica de lo que no sirve y enciende en nosotros procesos de vida abundante al servicio del Reino de Dios
¿Has sentido ese fuego dentro de tu vida? No se puede ser cristianos de verdad sin estar poseídos por este fuego, y no me refiero a un carácter apasionado o a un temperamento impulsivo que muchas veces arrasa con la vida de las personas provocando daño y división sin más. Me refiero al fuego del amor que tiene su origen en el perdón que recibimos, en la alegría de saber que Dios nos busca cuando nos creíamos perdidos, en la confianza de saber que Él nunca nos ha abandonado y en la fortaleza de contar con el amor de Aquel que se entregó hasta el extremo por nosotros. Cuando este fuego enciende su llama en nuestro interior se convierte en luz para nuestros pasos y deja al descubierto todo aquello que se opone al Reino de Dios para denunciarlo y transformarlo. No se trata de un fuego violento y vengativo, sino de un fuego que ofrece calor, luz y aliento de vida a toda costa.
¿Quieres vivir encendido en ese fuego? No olvides la frase de los discípulos de Emaús: “¿No ardía nuestro corazón mientras nos hablaba en el camino y nos explicaba las Escrituras?” (Lc 24, 32). Deja que la escucha de su Palabra encienda ese fuego en tu corazón

How different is the Jesus of today's Gospel with so many preaching that insist on presenting the image of a Jesus so sweet and so soft, that "he does not kill a fly." The Jesus of the Gospel is a man passionate about the Kingdom of his Father and a man who has not come to bring a numbing message to his followers, but to awaken them to the irrepressible and transforming force of love. Of course, Jesus does not want the division of families or society, but he knows that when a person truly meets him, he is not indifferent: his life is transformed and his values lead him to fight for what he considers valuable , to the point of questioning even traditions and ties that perished as sacred and unquestionable as family members are. The Gospel is a light that illuminates everything; Its clarity brings new criteria of life and, if we take them seriously, they become a fire that purifies us of what is useless and ignites in us processes of abundant life at the service of the Kingdom of God
Have you felt that fire inside your life? You cannot be a true Christian without being possessed by this fire, and I am not referring to a passionate character or an impulsive temperament that many times destroys people's lives causing damage and division without more. I refer to the fire of love that has its origin in the forgiveness we receive, in the joy of knowing that God seeks us when we thought we were lost, in the confidence of knowing that He has never abandoned us and in the strength of having love. of Him who gave himself to the end for us. When this fire ignites its flame within us, it becomes light for our steps and reveals all that is opposed to the Kingdom of God in order to denounce and transform it. It is not a violent and vengeful fire, but a fire that offers warmth, light and breath of life at all costs.
Do you want to live lit in that fire? Do not forget the phrase of the Emmaus disciples: "Did not our hearts burn as he spoke to us on the road and explained the Scriptures to us?" (Lk 24, 32). Let listening to his Word ignite that fire in your heart
