En aquel tiempo, como ya se acercaba Jesús a Jerusalén y la gente pensaba que el Reino de Dios iba a manifestarse de un momento a otro, él les dijo esta parábola:
“Había un hombre de la nobleza que se fue a un país lejano para ser nombrado rey y volver como tal. Antes de irse, mandó llamar a diez empleados suyos, les entregó una moneda de mucho valor a cada uno y les dijo: ‘Inviertan este dinero mientras regreso’.
Pero sus compatriotas lo aborrecían y enviaron detrás de él a unos delegados que dijeran: ‘No queremos que éste sea nuestro rey’.
Pero fue nombrado rey, y cuando regresó a su país, mandó llamar a los empleados a quienes había entregado el dinero, para saber cuánto había ganado cada uno.
Se presentó el primero y le dijo: ‘Señor, tu moneda ha producido otras diez monedas’. Él le contestó: ‘Muy bien. Eres un buen empleado. Puesto que has sido fiel en una cosa pequeña, serás gobernador de diez ciudades’.
Se presentó el segundo y le dijo: ‘Señor, tu moneda ha producido otras cinco monedas’. Y el señor le respondió: ‘Tú serás gobernador de cinco ciudades’.
Se presentó el tercero y le dijo: ‘Señor, aquí está tu moneda. La he tenido guardada en un pañuelo, pues te tuve miedo, porque eres un hombre exigente, que reclama lo que no ha invertido y cosecha lo que no ha sembrado’. El señor le contestó: ‘Eres un mal empleado. Por tu propia boca te condeno. Tú sabías que yo soy un hombre exigente, que reclamo lo que no he invertido y que cosecho lo que no he sembrado, ¿por qué, pues, no pusiste mi dinero en el banco para que yo, al volver, lo hubiera recobrado con intereses?’
Después les dijo a los presentes: ‘Quítenle a éste la moneda y dénsela al que tiene diez’. Le respondieron: ‘Señor, ya tiene diez monedas’. Él les dijo: ‘Les aseguro que a todo el que tenga se le dará con abundancia, y al que no tenga, aun lo que tiene se le quitará. En cuanto a mis enemigos, que no querían tenerme como rey, tráiganlos aquí y mátenlos en mi presencia’ ”.
Dicho esto, Jesús prosiguió su camino hacia Jerusalén al frente de sus discípulos.

Gospel
While people were listening to Jesus speak,
he proceeded to tell a parable because he was near Jerusalem
and they thought that the Kingdom of God
would appear there immediately.
So he said,
“A nobleman went off to a distant country
to obtain the kingship for himself and then to return.
He called ten of his servants and gave them ten gold coins
and told them, ‘Engage in trade with these until I return.’
His fellow citizens, however, despised him
and sent a delegation after him to announce,
‘We do not want this man to be our king.’
But when he returned after obtaining the kingship,
he had the servants called, to whom he had given the money,
to learn what they had gained by trading.
The first came forward and said,
‘Sir, your gold coin has earned ten additional ones.’
He replied, ‘Well done, good servant!
You have been faithful in this very small matter;
take charge of ten cities.’
Then the second came and reported,
‘Your gold coin, sir, has earned five more.’
And to this servant too he said,
‘You, take charge of five cities.’
Then the other servant came and said,
‘Sir, here is your gold coin;
I kept it stored away in a handkerchief,
for I was afraid of you, because you are a demanding man;
you take up what you did not lay down
and you harvest what you did not plant.’
He said to him,
‘With your own words I shall condemn you,
you wicked servant.
You knew I was a demanding man,
taking up what I did not lay down
and harvesting what I did not plant;
why did you not put my money in a bank?
Then on my return I would have collected it with interest.’
And to those standing by he said,
‘Take the gold coin from him
and give it to the servant who has ten.’
But they said to him,
‘Sir, he has ten gold coins.’
He replied, ‘I tell you,
to everyone who has, more will be given,
but from the one who has not,
even what he has will be taken away.
Now as for those enemies of mine who did not want me as their king,
bring them here and slay them before me.’”
After he had said this,
he proceeded on his journey up to Jerusalem.

Meditacion:
Había emoción por todas partes, Jesús se dirigía a Jerusalén, el centro político y espiritual de Israel. Al igual que el hombre noble de la parábola de hoy, estaba en un viaje para “ser nombrado rey” (Lucas 19, 12). Y al igual que este hombre, Jesús se enfrentó con una fuerte oposición de la gente que no quería reconocer su reino (19, 14).
Pero esta parábola no trata sobre la intriga que rodeaba al noble, respecto a si sería exitoso en reclamar su reino, sino sobre las personas que ya eran leales a él, los sirvientes que mantenían su hogar. ¿Cómo pasarían ellos el tiempo mientras esperaban el regreso de su señor? ¿Invertirían en la venida del reino, confiados en su demanda y autoridad? ¿O protegerían las apuestas, por no estar seguros de que su señor triunfaría? En otras palabras, ¿le creerían a él y su fe se traduciría en acción?
Al igual que este noble hombre de la parábola, Jesús continúa esperando su reinado. Todavía espera a que toda rodilla se doble delante de él y que todos acepten su gobierno y su Reino al final de los tiempos (Filipenses 2, 10). Y al igual que los empleados que esperan que su señor regrese, cada uno de nosotros se enfrenta a las mismas preguntas: “¿Invertiré en el reino venidero? ¿Creo en Jesús? ¿Mi fe se traduce en acción?”
Los dos sirvientes que multiplicaron lo que él les había dado invirtieron sus vidas completas en el reino. Ellos decidieron vivir como si ese reino ya estuviera presente, aunque todavía no lo estaba; decidieron arriesgarse, y al hacerlo, obtuvieron grandes ganancias para el señor, y para ellos mismos.
Esta es la forma en que Dios quiere que vivamos. Podemos duplicar la inversión de lo que Dios nos ha dado tratando a los demás con misericordia y generosidad, incluso podemos triplicar la ganancia si les hablamos a otras personas de Jesús con la esperanza de que ellos también lo acepten como su rey. Tomemos algunos riesgos por el Reino, ¡El Señor promete grandes recompensas para todos los que lo hagan!
“Amado Jesús, ayúdame a vivir hoy como un ciudadano del Reino venidero, te lo ruego.” Amen

There was excitement everywhere, Jesus was heading to Jerusalem, the political and spiritual center of Israel. Like the noble man in today's parable, he was on a journey to “be made king” (Luke 19:12). And like this man, Jesus faced strong opposition from people who did not want to recognize his kingdom (19, 14).
But this parable is not about the intrigue surrounding the nobleman, about whether he would be successful in claiming his kingdom, but about the people who were already loyal to him, the servants who kept his home. How would they pass their time while waiting for their lord's return? Would they invest in the coming of the kingdom, confident in its demand and authority? Or would they protect the bets, not being sure that their lord would triumph? In other words, would they believe him and would their faith translate into action?
Like this noble man in the parable, Jesus continues to await his reign. He still waits for every knee to bow before him and for all to accept his rule and Kingdom at the end of time (Philippians 2, 10). And like employees waiting for their lord to return, each of us faces the same questions: “Will I invest in the kingdom to come? I believe in Jesus? Does my faith translate into action? "
The two servants who multiplied what he had given them invested their entire lives in the kingdom. They decided to live as if that kingdom was already present, although it was not yet; They decided to take a risk, and by doing so, they made great profits for the Lord, and for themselves.
This is the way God wants us to live. We can double the investment of what God has given us by treating others with mercy and generosity, we can even triple the profit if we tell other people about Jesus in the hope that they too will accept Him as their king. Let's take some risks for the Kingdom, the Lord promises great rewards for all who do!
