En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a la gente: “Yo les aseguro que no ha surgido entre los hijos de una mujer ninguno más grande que Juan el Bautista. Sin embargo, el más pequeño en el Reino de los cielos, es todavía más grande que él.

Desde los días de Juan el Bautista hasta ahora, el Reino de los cielos exige esfuerzo, y los esforzados lo conquistarán. Porque todos los profetas y la ley profetizaron, hasta Juan; y si quieren creerlo, él es Elías, el que habría de venir. El que tenga oídos que oiga”.

MT 11:11-15

Jesus said to the crowds:
“Amen, I say to you,
among those born of women
there has been none greater than John the Baptist;
yet the least in the Kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 
From the days of John the Baptist until now,
the Kingdom of heaven suffers violence,
and the violent are taking it by force. 
All the prophets and the law prophesied up to the time of John. 
And if you are willing to accept it,
he is Elijah, the one who is to come. 
Whoever has ears ought to hear.”

Meditacion:

Estamos a dos semanas de Navidad, y las lecturas de la Escritura elegidas por la Iglesia dimensionan lo grande que es el plan de Dios. La venida del reino glorioso ha estado gestándose por un tiempo largo, y ahora que está aquí, está destinado a ser “perpetuo” (Salmo 145 (144), 12).

El salmo de hoy nos da una herramienta que puede ayudarnos a ser más conscientes de que el Reino de Dios está presente en medio de nosotros. Es muy simple: “hablen” al respecto (Salmo 145 (144), 11). Habla sobre algunas de las cosas que ves que Dios está haciendo a través de su pueblo y de su Iglesia. Estos son signos de la “gloria” de su “reino”, y pueden llenar tu corazón con una mayor esperanza y gratitud en este Adviento. A continuación hay algunos ejemplos para ayudarte a comenzar.

“Señor, en tu reino, se satisfacen las necesidades físicas. A través del duro trabajo de incontables organizaciones, tú alimentas a los hambrientos, das hogar a los desplazados, y cuidas de los enfermos y los moribundos. No hay una persona vulnerable a la que tú no anheles llenar de fuerza a través de manos compasivas y amorosas.

“En tu reino, la paz y la buena voluntad triunfan sobre la violencia y la maldad. Haces que los vecinos ayuden a los miembros de la comunidad que están luchando. Tú suavizas el corazón de los padres hacia sus hijos, y de los hijos hacia los padres. Tú inspiras un sinnúmero de actos de generosidad.

“Padre, en tu reino, la unidad y el respeto mutuo vencen todas las divisiones. Tú unes a las personas de diferentes confesiones en causas comunes para mostrar que todos somos tus ovejas y que amas la unidad y la hermandad.

“Esto muestra que eres un Dios tan poderoso, amoroso y bondadoso. ¡Qué gran bendición es vivir en un mundo en el que tu reino brilla tanto!”

Procura mantener tus ojos abiertos a las señales del reino que están ahí para que “adviertan y entiendan de una vez por todas, que es la mano del Señor la que hace esto” (Isaías 41, 20). Recuerda esto durante las próximas dos semanas, y para cuando llegue la Navidad, tu corazón se sentirá más liviano, y tu amor por Dios se haga más profundo.

We are two weeks away from Christmas, and the Scripture readings chosen by the Church measure how great God's plan is. The coming of the glorious kingdom has been in the making for a long time, and now that it is here, it is destined to be "perpetual" (Psalm 145 (144), 12).

Today's psalm gives us a tool that can help us become more aware that the Kingdom of God is present in our midst. It's very simple: “talk” about it (Psalm 145 (144), 11). Talk about some of the things you see God doing through his people and his Church. These are signs of the "glory" of his "kingdom," and they can fill your heart with greater hope and gratitude this Advent. Here are some examples to help you get started.

“Lord, in your kingdom, physical needs are met. Through the hard work of countless organizations, you feed the hungry, house the displaced, and care for the sick and dying. There is not a vulnerable person whom you do not wish to fill with strength through compassionate and loving hands.

“In your kingdom, peace and good will triumph over violence and evil. You make the neighbors help the community members who are struggling. You soften the heart of parents towards their children, and of children towards parents. You inspire countless acts of generosity.

“Father, in your kingdom, unity and mutual respect conquer all divisions. You unite people of different faiths in common causes to show that we are all your sheep and that you love unity and brotherhood.

“This shows that you are such a powerful, loving and caring God. What a great blessing it is to live in a world where your kingdom shines so brightly! "

Try to keep your eyes open to the signs of the kingdom that are there so that “they may notice and understand once and for all that it is the hand of the Lord that does this” (Isaiah 41:20). Remember this for the next two weeks, and by the time Christmas rolls around, your heart will feel lighter, and your love for God will deepen.
