Mt 9, 27-31

Cuando Jesús salía de Cafarnaúm, lo siguieron dos ciegos, que gritaban: “¡Hijo de David, compadécete de nosotros!” Al entrar Jesús en la casa, se le acercaron los ciegos y Jesús les preguntó: “¿Creen que puedo hacerlo?” Ellos le contestaron: “Sí, Señor”. Entonces les tocó los ojos, diciendo: “Que se haga en ustedes conforme a su fe”. Y se les abrieron los ojos. Jesús les advirtió severamente: “Que nadie lo sepa”. Pero ellos, al salir, divulgaron su fama por toda la región.

MT 9:27-31

As Jesus passed by, two blind men followed him, crying out,
“Son of David, have pity on us!” 
When he entered the house,
the blind men approached him and Jesus said to them,
“Do you believe that I can do this?” 
“Yes, Lord,” they said to him. 
Then he touched their eyes and said,
“Let it be done for you according to your faith.” 
And their eyes were opened. 
Jesus warned them sternly,
“See that no one knows about this.” 

But they went out and spread word of him through all that land.

Meditacion:

 Quizá el secreto de que el tiempo de adviento nos resulte tan entrañable es el continuo mensaje de paz y esperanza que nos propone. Desde los profetas, en Adviento no dejamos de escuchar en la Palabra que las cosas pueden cambiar: ¡van a cambiar! ¿A quién no le consuela esto? ¿Quién no se emociona pensando en un mundo donde los ciegos ven, los sordos oyen, los desiertos son vergeles y se hace justicia con los cínicos, los violentos, las malas personas?

Adviento es el tiempo de cuantos ansiamos que las cosas cambien y sobre todo, es el tiempo de los pequeños, de los que ya ahora se sitúan del lado de la concordia, del diálogo, de la mirada limpia, del gesto fraterno.

Y, sin embargo, la realidad se empeña tozudamente en recordarnos que las cosas no cambian tanto como querríamos. Ni siquiera nosotros mejoramos tanto como nos gustaría. Somos ciegos a los que Jesús toca en medio del camino y nos pregunta: ¿creéis que puedo hacerlo? La respuesta está en cada uno. La ceguera también. Quizá la clave sea no olvidar que también en nosotros está la luz y la salvación, al menos en germen. Porque nos habita el Señor, la defensa de nuestra vida.

Perhaps the secret that the season of Advent is so endearing to us is the continuous message of peace and hope that it offers us. From the prophets, in Advent we do not stop hearing in the Word that things can change: they will change! Who is not comforted by this? Who does not get excited thinking of a world where the blind see, the deaf hear, the deserts are orchards and justice is done with the cynics, the violent, the bad people?

Advent is the time of those of us who yearn for things to change and above all, it is the time of the little ones, of those who are now on the side of harmony, dialogue, a clean look, a fraternal gesture.

And yet reality stubbornly insists on reminding us that things do not change as much as we would like. Even we don't improve as much as we would like. We are blind to whom Jesus touches in the middle of the road and asks us: do you think I can do it? The answer is in each one. Blindness too. Perhaps the key is not to forget that light and salvation are also in us, at least in germ. Because the Lord dwells in us, the defense of our life.
