En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a los judíos (que lo perseguían por hacer curaciones en sábado): “Mi Padre trabaja siempre y yo también trabajo”. Por eso los judíos buscaban con mayor empeño darle muerte, ya que no sólo violaba el sábado, sino que llamaba Padre suyo a Dios, igualándose así con Dios.
Entonces Jesús les habló en estos términos: “Yo les aseguro: El Hijo no puede hacer nada por su cuenta y sólo hace lo que le ve hacer al Padre; lo que hace el Padre también lo hace el Hijo. El Padre ama al Hijo y le manifiesta todo lo que hace; le manifestará obras todavía mayores que éstas, para asombro de ustedes. Así como el Padre resucita a los muertos y les da la vida, así también el Hijo da la vida a quien él quiere dársela. El Padre no juzga a nadie, porque todo juicio se lo ha dado al Hijo, para que todos honren al Hijo, como honran al Padre. El que no honra al Hijo tampoco honra al Padre.
Yo les aseguro que, quien escucha mi palabra y cree en el que me envió, tiene vida eterna y no será condenado en el juicio, porque ya pasó de la muerte a la vida.
Les aseguro que viene la hora, y ya está aquí, en que los muertos oirán la voz del Hijo de Dios, y los que la hayan oído vivirán. Pues así como el Padre tiene la vida en sí mismo, también le ha dado al Hijo tener la vida en sí mismo; y le ha dado el poder de juzgar, porque es el Hijo del hombre.
No se asombren de esto, porque viene la hora en que todos los que yacen en la tumba oirán mi voz y resucitarán: los que hicieron el bien para la vida; los que hicieron el mal, para la condenación. Yo nada puedo hacer por mí mismo. Según lo que oigo, juzgo; y mi juicio es justo, porque no busco mi voluntad, sino la voluntad del que me envió”.

Jesus answered the Jews:
“My Father is at work until now, so I am at work.”
For this reason they tried all the more to kill him,
because he not only broke the sabbath
but he also called God his own father, making himself equal to God.
Jesus answered and said to them,
“Amen, amen, I say to you, the Son cannot do anything on his own,
but only what he sees the Father doing;
for what he does, the Son will do also.
For the Father loves the Son
and shows him everything that he himself does,
and he will show him greater works than these,
so that you may be amazed.
For just as the Father raises the dead and gives life,
so also does the Son give life to whomever he wishes.
Nor does the Father judge anyone,
but he has given all judgment to the Son,
so that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father.
Whoever does not honor the Son
does not honor the Father who sent him.
Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever hears my word
and believes in the one who sent me
has eternal life and will not come to condemnation,
but has passed from death to life.
Amen, amen, I say to you, the hour is coming and is now here
when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God,
and those who hear will live.
For just as the Father has life in himself,
so also he gave to the Son the possession of life in himself.
And he gave him power to exercise judgment,
because he is the Son of Man.
Do not be amazed at this,
because the hour is coming in which all who are in the tombs
will hear his voice and will come out,
those who have done good deeds
to the resurrection of life,
but those who have done wicked deeds
to the resurrection of condemnation.
“I cannot do anything on my own;
I judge as I hear, and my judgment is just,
because I do not seek my own will
but the will of the one who sent me.”

Meditacion:
Cuando piensas en ser consolado, podrías imaginar a alguien que pone sus brazos a tu alrededor y te anima cuando estás lastimado, enfermo o enojado. Podría ser que recuerdes momentos de tu niñez cuando tu madre escuchaba tus preocupaciones, incluso cuando sabía que no podía arreglarlo todo. Probablemente te dijo cuánto te amaba también, y que intentaría ayudarte. Su presencia y su amor te recordaban, de alguna manera, que las cosas estarían bien.
Aun cuando nunca hayas experimentado esta clase de consuelo por parte de tus padres, siempre puedes experimentarlo de parte de Dios. ¡La primera lectura de hoy te lo promete! Tu Dios sabe cuáles son tus necesidades, tus preocupaciones y tus tristezas. El Señor no se olvida de ti, ni siquiera por un instante. Aunque una madre se olvidara de su hijo, Dios no se olvidará de ti (Isaías 45, 15).
Ahora, no puedes tener el brazo de otra persona alrededor de tu hombro todo el tiempo. El consuelo que viene de Dios no se limita a una cercanía física. Él siempre está contigo, incluso cuando enredas las cosas y todos los demás te abandonan. A esto se referían las Escrituras cuando proclamaron que Dios es fiel y verdadero. Jesús prometió que él estaría a tu lado siempre, y él nunca deje de cumplir sus promesas (Mateo 28, 20).
Podría ser que tú ya hayas experimentado el consuelo de Dios de una forma personal. Tal vez sentiste que renovaba tus fuerzas en un momento de dificultad. O tal vez te guio a través de una situación confusa. Incluso cuando las dificultades de la vida te tienten a pensar que Dios está lejos, recuerda que eso no es cierto. El Señor camina a tu lado: sufre contigo, persevera contigo y te consuela aun cuando tú no estés seguro de si está ahí.
Hermano, siéntete libre de expresarle a Jesús tus pensamientos más profundos, incluso aquellos que estén llenos de ansiedad, temor, resentimiento o enojo. No te preocupes; tú no lo sorprenderás ni lo ofenderás. De hecho, es en esos momentos en que podrías empezar a sentir su presencia y su consuelo. Y si no sientes exactamente su presencia, eso está bien. Dios te está dando la oportunidad de fortalecer tu fe. Siempre recuerda: Él nunca te abandonará.
“Señor Jesús, te suplico que seas mi consuelo.”

When you think of being comforted, you might imagine someone putting their arms around you and cheering you on when you are hurt, sick, or angry. It could be that you remember moments from your childhood when your mother listened to your concerns, even when she knew that she couldn't fix everything. She probably told you how much she loved you too, and that she would try to help you. Her presence and her love reminded you, somehow, that things would be fine.
Even if you have never experienced this kind of comfort from your parents, you can always experience it from God. Today's first reading promises you! Your God knows what your needs, your worries and your sadness are. The Lord does not forget you, not even for an instant. Even if a mother forgets her child, God will not forget you (Isaiah 45:15).
Now, you can't have someone else's arm around your shoulder all the time. The comfort that comes from God is not limited to physical closeness. He is always with you, even when you mess things up and everyone else abandons you. This is what the Scriptures meant when they proclaimed that God is faithful and true. Jesus promised that he would be by your side always, and he would never fail to fulfill his promises (Matthew 28:20).
It could be that you have already experienced God's comfort in a personal way. Perhaps you felt him renew your strength in a difficult moment. Or maybe it led you through a confusing situation. Even when life's difficulties tempt you to think that God is far away, remember that this is not true. The Lord walks by your side: he suffers with you, perseveres with you and comforts you even when you are not sure if he is there.
Brother, feel free to express to Jesus your deepest thoughts, even those that are filled with anxiety, fear, resentment or anger. Do not worry; you will not surprise or offend him. In fact, it is in those moments that you might begin to feel his presence and his comfort. And if you don't exactly feel his presence, that's fine. God is giving you the opportunity to strengthen your faith. Always remember: He will never abandon you.
