Lc 5, 12-16

En aquel tiempo, estando Jesús en un poblado, llegó un leproso, y al ver a Jesús, se postró rostro en tierra, diciendo: “Señor, si quieres, puedes curarme”. Jesús extendió la mano y lo tocó, diciendo: “Quiero. Queda limpio”. Y al momento desapareció la lepra. Entonces Jesús le ordenó que no lo dijera a nadie y añadió: “Ve, preséntate al sacerdote y ofrece por tu purificación lo que Moisés prescribió. Eso les servirá de testimonio”.

Y su fama se extendía más y más. Las muchedumbres acudían a oírlo y a ser curados de sus enfermedades. Pero Jesús se retiraba a lugares solitarios para orar.

Lk 5:12-16

It happened that there was a man full of leprosy in one of the towns where Jesus was;
and when he saw Jesus,
he fell prostrate, pleaded with him, and said,
“Lord, if you wish, you can make me clean.” 
Jesus stretched out his hand, touched him, and said,
“I do will it.  Be made clean.” 
And the leprosy left him immediately. 
Then he ordered him not to tell anyone, but
“Go, show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing
what Moses prescribed; that will be proof for them.” 
The report about him spread all the more,
and great crowds assembled to listen to him
and to be cured of their ailments,
but he would withdraw to deserted places to pray.

Meditacion:

Los leprosos la pasaban bastante mal en el tiempo de Jesus.

Vivian separados de la sociedad, en lugares apartados y no podian ir a los pueblos o a la sinagona, estaban solos.

Fijense que el leproso de hoy dia reconoce profundamente a Jesus; no le pide que lo cure, le dice "si tu quieres, puedes" o sea, le transfiere el poder de la sanacion. Y Jesus quiso.

Hay un reconocimiento implicito al Hijo de Dios que es lo que falta en los escribas y fariseos... como siempre, la clase dominante tiene una vision corta, miope y totalmente errada y las personas humildes, en su mayoria, lo reconocen a simple vista.

Pero fijense que Jesus le recomienda que haga la otra parte, que cumpla con los ritos prescriptos (ir a presentarse al sacerdote para que certifique que se curo y que puede volver a la sociedad).

Fijense esto. Jesus lo cura pero a la vez le dice que ese sera su testimonio.

Cuantas veces Jesus, nos cura o nos levanta pero fallamos en el testimonio, pensamos que nosotros solito lo hicimos. Y no es asi, lo espiritual actua en el silencio y la humildad; lo espiritual no necesita hacer enormes cambios simplemente porque lo espiritul,  el Espiritu de Dios, es y esta en cada cosa de la creacion.

Jesus salva, Jesus crea, Jesus cambia vidas pero primero tenemos que reconocer esa fuerza arrolladora de amor que interviene en mi vida, muchas veces, incluso, sin yo pedirlo.

Pero todo comienza alli, en ese primer momento "si tu quieres, puedes curarme"

“Señor Jesús, te ruego que me des la valentía de acercarme a quienes están solos y olvidados, e impactarlos con tu amor.” Amen

Lepers had a pretty bad time in Jesus' day.

They lived separated from society, in secluded places and could not go to the towns or the synagona, they were alone.

Lc 4, 14-22

En aquel tiempo, con la fuerza del Espíritu, Jesús volvió a Galilea. Iba enseñando en las sinagogas; todos lo alababan y su fama se extendió por toda la región.

Fue también a Nazaret, donde se había criado. Entró en la sinagoga, como era su costumbre hacerlo los sábados, y se levantó para hacer la lectura. Lk 4:14-22

Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit,
and news of him spread throughout the whole region. 
He taught in their synagogues and was praised by all.

He came to Nazareth, where he had grown up,
and went according to his custom
into the synagogue on the sabbath day. 
He stood up to read and was handed a scroll of the prophet Isaiah. 
He unrolled the scroll and found the passage where it was written:

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
    because he has anointed me
        to bring glad tidings to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives
    and recovery of sight to the blind,
        to let the oppressed go free,

Rolling up the scroll, he handed it back to the attendant and sat down,
and the eyes of all in the synagogue looked intently at him. 
He said to them,
“Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing.” 
And all spoke highly of him
and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his mouth.

Meditacion:

Obviamente Jesús pronunció estas palabras para referirse a sí mismo. Pero, ¿tú crees que se podría decir lo mismo sobre ti? Todos los que han sido bautizados en Cristo han recibido su Espíritu Santo. Ya sea que lo sientas o no, en realidad, ya sea que tu experiencia te lo diga o no, ¡el Espíritu Santo está sobre ti

Con el tiempo, crecerás en confianza, y Dios te usará para cosas más grandes.

You might think that you are not the right person to carry out this task, but God does not think in the same way. The Lord gave you his spirit for that sole purpose and as you learn to feel it and follow his guide, you will overcome the limitations that seem to grow in your heart. In time, you will grow in confidence, and God will use you for greater things.

This idea of ​​“feeling” Spirit may sound like something that is out of reach, but it is actually quite simple. It is that small and calm voice that is in your mind encouraging you to forgive your coworker for what she said about you, or that impulse that brings you closer to your neighbor that seems lonely or that feeling in your throat that arises when you are about to say something inappropriate or harmful. Each time you follow one of these impulses, you are laying another cornerstone of the Kingdom; and furthermore, you are building a stronger foundation for your own life, a foundation of peace and trust in the Spirit that lives in you.

Mc 6, 45-52

En aquel tiempo, después de la multiplicación de los panes, Jesús premió a sus discípulos a que subieran a la barca y se dirigieran a Betsaida, mientras él despedía a la gente. Después de despedirlos, se retiró al monte a orar.

Entrada la noche, la barca estaba en medio del lago y Jesús, solo, en tierra. Viendo los trabajos con que avanzaban, pues el viento les era contrario, se dirigió a ellos caminando sobre el agua, poco antes del amanecer, y parecía que iba a pasar de largo.

Al verlo andar sobre el agua, ellos creyeron que era un fantasma y se pusieron a gritar, porque todos lo habían visto y estaban espantados. Pero él les habló enseguida y les dijo: “¡Ánimo! Soy yo; no teman”. Subió a la barca con ellos y se calmó el viento. Todos estaban llenos de espanto y es que no habían entendido el episodio de los panes, pues tenían la mente embotada.

Mk 6:45-52

En una antigua serie de televisión, Perdidos en el espacio, cuando el robot recibía una orden incomprensible o incompatible para su programación, decía “no es computable”. Luego trataba de procesar nuevamente los datos.

En su Evangelio, San Marcos nos muestra que el encuentro con Jesús era tan extraordinario que las personas parecían reaccionar casi igual a este robot.

Primera Lectura

1 Jn 4, 7-10

Queridos hijos: Amémonos los unos a los otros, porque el amor viene de Dios, y todo el que ama ha nacido de Dios y conoce a Dios. El que no ama, no conoce a Dios, porque Dios es amor. El amor que Dios nos tiene se ha manifestado en que envió al mundo a su Hijo unigénito, para que vivamos por él.

El amor consiste en esto: no en que nosotros hayamos amado a Dios, sino en que él nos amó primero y nos envió a su Hijo, como víctima de expiación por nuestros pecados.

Mt 4, 12-17. 23-25

Al enterarse Jesús de que Juan había sido arrestado, se retiró a Galilea, y dejando el pueblo de Nazaret, se fue a vivir a Cafarnaúm, junto al lago, en territorio de Zabulón y Neftalí, para que así se cumpliera lo que había anunciado el profeta Isaías:

Tierra de Zabulón y Neftalí, camino del mar, al otro lado del Jordán, Galilea de los paganos; el pueblo que caminaba en tinieblas vio una gran luz. Sobre los que vivían en tierra de sombras una luz resplandeció.

Desde entonces comenzó Jesús a predicar, diciendo: “Conviértanse, porque ya está cerca el Reino de los cielos”. Y andaba por toda Galilea, enseñando en las sinagogas y proclamando la buena nueva del Reino de Dios y curando a la gente de toda enfermedad y dolencia.

Su fama se extendió por toda Siria y le llevaban a todos los aquejados por diversas enfermedades y dolencias, a los poseídos, epilépticos y paralíticos, y él los curaba. Lo seguían grandes muchedumbres venidas de Galilea, Decápolis, Jerusalén, Judea y Transjordania.

When Jesus heard that John had been arrested,

Meditacion:

Finalmente, la vida incógnita de Jesús había llegado a su fin. A través de su bautismo y su tiempo de ayuno en el desierto, su misión había sido revelada. Entonces, ¿qué seguía?

Pero, con el paso del tiempo, los judíos se mezclaron con los pueblos paganos que vivían en medio de ellos. Pero también se deleita en entrar en tu “Galilea de los paganos”, aquellos lugares en que has sido derrotado o te has decepcionado, los lugares de tus pérdidas y resentimientos y en todas las áreas que están heridas y que fácilmente pueden convertirse en terrenos de cultivo para el pecado y la división.

Entonces, no esperemos ver a Jesús solamente cuando estamos en la iglesia, él viene a nosotros cuando lloramos por la pérdida de un amigo, cuando nos sentimos sofocados por un insulto o cuando nos deleitamos por una victoria duramente ganada contra un competidor. El Señor comparte con nosotros la vida cotidiana: las frustraciones en el tráfico, las alegrías de la familia, los malos entendidos y los éxitos. Sí, el Reino de Cristo ya llegó, precisamente aquí donde estamos tú y yo.

“Señor, por favor ayúdame a ver tu Reino que ya está aquí.”

Finally, the unknown life of Jesus had come to an end. Through his baptism and his time of fasting in the desert, his mission had been revealed. So what was he following?

It would have been reasonable for Jesus to travel to the capital, the city of Jerusalem. There lived most of the educated, pious, upper-class people and political leaders. Surely they were the ones who could best receive his message. But instead, Jesus went to the region of Zebulon and Naphtali, "Galilee of the heathen" (Matthew 4:15).

As often happens, he did the opposite of what we might have expected. Zebulon and Naphtali were the first Israelite territories to succumb to the invasion of Assyria eight centuries before their birth. But, with the passage of time, the Jews mixed with the pagan peoples who lived in their midst. As a result, the religious experts were few, instead, the majority were fishermen and artisans who kept their faith to the best of their ability in the midst of difficulties. They were the first to have the privilege of hearing the proclamation that the Kingdom of Heaven was near. Those who had suffered the most were those who most needed to hear the good news, and those who least expected it.

Isn't that the way God often reaches out to you? Yes, he faithfully meets you in "Jerusalem", in your religious moments and practices. But he also delights in entering your "Galilee of the heathen," those places where you have been defeated or disappointed, the places of your losses and resentments, and all the areas that are hurt and that can easily become the grounds of cultivation for sin and division.

So let's not expect to see Jesus only when we are in church, he comes to us when we mourn the loss of a friend, when we are suffocated by an insult, or when we delight in a hard-won victory against a competitor. The Lord shares with us everyday life: frustrations in traffic, joys in the family, misunderstandings and successes. Yes, the Kingdom of Christ has already arrived, precisely here where you and I are.

"Lord, please help me to see your Kingdom that is already here."
