Alegria

Lc 5, 33-39

mejor' ".

GospelLK 5:33-39

The scribes and Pharisees said to Jesus,
"The disciples of John the Baptist fast often and offer prayers,
and the disciples of the Pharisees do the same;
but yours eat and drink."
Jesus answered them, "Can you make the wedding guests fast
while the bridegroom is with them?
But the days will come, and when the bridegroom is taken away from them,
then they will fast in those days."
And he also told them a parable.
"No one tears a piece from a new cloak to patch an old one.
Otherwise, he will tear the new
and the piece from it will not match the old cloak.
Likewise, no one pours new wine into old wineskins.
Otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins,
and it will be spilled, and the skins will be ruined.
Rather, new wine must be poured into fresh wineskins.
And no one who has been drinking old wine desires new,
for he says, 'The old is good.'"

Meditacion:
Amen

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today's Gospel is full of joy. Joy because Jesus was among the disciples, he had come to earth to save us.
And we clearly read and we perceived the insidiousness of the hierarchs of the Jewish religion who again remained in the gestures and could not look any further, the tremendous transcendence of the love of God sending his own son to save us.
Like Martha who sits at the feet of the Master to listen to him and take advantage of his stay, the disciples did that: they learned at his side; the forms would come later (and would grow until this Church of today, so ecclesiastical sometimes ...).
If you have Jesus by your side, you will not be doing anything but listening to him. you have the owner of the truth, the master teacher ...
St. Paul shows us the way, and if we put all our attention on the Lord and dedicate ourselves to be stewards of the divine mysteries, Jesus will come to fill our understanding also. So we will not have reasons to worry about what other people think of us. What we do have to worry about is whether we are pleasing the Lord with the way we are living our faith.
"Holy Spirit, Lord, fill my heart and mind with the presence of Jesus. May my joy be in knowing that I have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb and that all things are mine in Christ Jesus, and that I belong to him. "Amen

Pescador de hombres

Lc 5, 1-11

GospelLK 5:1-11

While the crowd was pressing in on Jesus and listening to the word of God,
he was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret.
He saw two boats there alongside the lake;
the fishermen had disembarked and were washing their nets.
Getting into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon,
he asked him to put out a short distance from the shore.
Then he sat down and taught the crowds from the boat.
After he had finished speaking, he said to Simon,
"Put out into deep water and lower your nets for a catch."
Simon said in reply,
"Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing,
but at your command I will lower the nets."
When they had done this, they caught a great number of fish
and their nets were tearing.
They signaled to their partners in the other boat
to come to help them.
They came and filled both boats
so that the boats were in danger of sinking.
When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at the knees of Jesus and said,
"Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man."
For astonishment at the catch of fish they had made seized him
and all those with him,
and likewise James and John, the sons of Zebedee,
who were partners of Simon.
Jesus said to Simon, "Do not be afraid;
from now on you will be catching men."
When they brought their boats to the shore,
they left everything and followed him.

Meditacion:
Amen

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A while ago I read a phrase that stayed with me and that should be key in our daily life. It says "God does not want our abilities but our time." And this simple phrase I think is close to what we read in the Gospel today.
Pedro was a professional fisherman, he knew his job, he had done it for a long time but still he says yes to Jesus when he tells him to throw the nets again.
No doubt he was tired, after a whole night of fishing; Like many of us Catholics, we are often tired of doing good, of showing ourselves charitable, and loving others often to receive contempt or ridicule or, simply, the indifference of our neighbors and friends.
It is difficult to be strong in a time so particularly turbulent for religious people.
Pope John Paul II introduced the cry of "Duc in altum" to the Church in the third millennium. It is a cry of audacity and hope. Fruit of trust in the Lord. We go in the same boat of Jesus, although, as in another occasion, it seems that he is asleep. He sends us. His word changes us, it gives a turn to our life. When Peter proclaims himself so sinful, Jesus responds with the highest mission of fisher of men. And with him to Santiago and Juan.
Unlike Peter, we tell Jesus not to go away, when we are sinners. We want to feel forgiveness, liberation and reconciliation close by. As in the publican, fragility raises the hunger for mercy, the hunger of God. Pedro himself taught us with his life and with his death. Sinner, wanting to separate the Master from the way of the cross and denying him. Proclaiming: "You know that I love you" and shedding his blood for him.
It all began in a fragile boat, on the Sea of Galilee.
"Beloved Lord, I know that I am not worthy of your love or of salvation, as no one is, but I welcome your divine mercy so that you may grant me the grace of health and spiritual healing. Jesus, Lord and my Savior, I trust in you. "Amen

Para eso he venido

Lc 4, 38-44

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GospelLK 4:38-44

After Jesus left the synagogue, he entered the house of Simon.
Simon's mother-in-law was afflicted with a severe fever,
and they interceded with him about her.
He stood over her, rebuked the fever, and it left her.
She got up immediately and waited on them.

At sunset, all who had people sick with various diseases
brought them to him.
He laid his hands on each of them and cured them.
And demons also came out from many, shouting, "You are the Son of God."
But he rebuked them and did not allow them to speak
because they knew that he was the Christ.

At daybreak, Jesus left and went to a deserted place.
The crowds went looking for him, and when they came to him,
they tried to prevent him from leaving them.
But he said to them, "To the other towns also
I must proclaim the good news of the Kingdom of God,
because for this purpose I have been sent."
And he was preaching in the synagogues of Judea.

Meditacion:
Amen

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today, reading material about this gospel, I found a phrase that I liked a lot and that seems to summarize the richest and most interesting thing of today: "Evangelizing is no longer announcing Jesus Christ, then healing, as in Jesus, preaching the Gospel is not knowing where the word begins and where it ends up imposing hands to heal. "
What the author explains here with supreme clarity is that we should no longer remain in evangelization; Our whole life must be filled with the Holy Spirit and be a reflection of the life of Jesus.
Jesus heals, proclaims, moves in a plane where he does not make distinctions but the attitude of many of that time is the same as that of now: they seek to retain him, to keep it for themselves, to appropriate his miracles and to serve his desires.
And it is what we often do with Jesus, we want him to solve our life, forgetting that Jesus belongs to everyone, that he came for everyone, and that in this world there are many more points of view than ours or those that we we fall as friendly as others.
We can not keep Jesus, his teachings or his actions (we should not); in the same way that the wind of the Holy Spirit flies in all directions, we must share it and expose it.
Especially in these days where religion is so battered by sin, we must wear our Catholic colors and show with our lives that we are still alive, that the spiritual option is the only valid option in this life, we must combat the relativism that individuality produces. unhealthy of the secular society that proclaims individualism and the triumph of the human over the spiritual.
Certainly, the Gospel is an ineffable gift that enriches human existence; but it is a gift that can not be confined, it is a gift that opens us unceasingly towards our neighbor.
"Beloved Lord Jesus, deliver me from all evil and help me to be an instrument of reconciliation and mercy for my fellow men." Amen

Autoridad

Lk 4, 31-37

¿Has venido a destruirnos?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GospelLK 4:31-37

Jesus went down to Capernaum, a town of Galilee.
He taught them on the sabbath,
and they were astonished at his teaching
because he spoke with authority.
In the synagogue there was a man with the spirit of an unclean demon,
and he cried out in a loud voice,
"What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth?
Have you come to destroy us?
I know who you are–the Holy One of God!"
Jesus rebuked him and said, "Be quiet! Come out of him!"
Then the demon threw the man down in front of them
and came out of him without doing him any harm.
They were all amazed and said to one another,
"What is there about his word?
For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits,
and they come out."
And news of him spread everywhere in the surrounding region.

========================================================

Meditacion:
Amen

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Lord dedicated himself to teaching in the synagogue, but he did it "with authority" because he did not limit himself to repeating the traditional doctrines of the teachers of the law, nor to refirmar what has already been said by other teachers (according to rabbinic custom). What he did was to interpret the Scripture in the new light of the Holy Spirit, so that it opened a new channel of grace that penetrated to the consciousness of his hearers ("Everyone was amazed at his teachings").
On the contrary, the evil one tries to impose himself by force and always leaves in his wake a humanity increasingly impoverished, violent, chained and divided, because his is a condemnatory word, which corrodes the conscience of those whose spirit has not been renewed by grace. But in the presence of evil, the Lord's response is blunt: "Shut up and leave this man!" Evil can not be treated with caution or ambiguity; we must fight it directly, with the truth and with humble firmness, so that it does not oppress or destroy social coexistence.
The experience of the demoniac invites us to reflect on the vital meaning that he discovered in his encounter with Christ. With his single word, the Lord expels the devil, which is undoubtedly a message of confidence for us. It is as if Luke were saying to us: "Have confidence, because the power of evil is subject to Jesus Christ and he can expel the evil one who torments any person."
What makes the difference is faith in God's Messiah. To those who hide in the darkness of sin, the Lord calls them to come to the light so that their evil deeds are exposed, they repent and they are saved; otherwise they will be opting for a frightful eternity of endless torment. Dear brother, where are you? If you do not live fully in the light of Christ, the Lord wants to take you out of the shadows and bring you to his side.
"Beloved Jesus, do not allow, I beg you, evil to dominate me or any of my loved ones." Amen

Nadie es profeta en su tierra....

Lc 4, 16-30

GospelLK 4:16-30

Jesus came to Nazareth, where he had grown up,
and went according to his custom
into the synagogue on the sabbath day.
He stood up to read and was handed a scroll of the prophet Isaiah.
He unrolled the scroll and found the passage where it was written:

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to bring glad tidings to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives
and recovery of sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed go free,
and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.

Rolling up the scroll,
he handed it back to the attendant and sat down,
and the eyes of all in the synagogue looked intently at him.
He said to them,
"Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing."
And all spoke highly of him
and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his mouth.
They also asked, "Is this not the son of Joseph?"
He said to them, "Surely you will quote me this proverb,
'Physician, cure yourself,' and say, 'Do here in your native place
the things that we heard were done in Capernaum.'"
And he said,
"Amen, I say to you, no prophet is accepted in his own native place.
Indeed, I tell you,
there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah
when the sky was closed for three and a half years
and a severe famine spread over the entire land.
It was to none of these that Elijah was sent,
but only to a widow in Zarephath in the land of Sidon.
Again, there were many lepers in Israel
during the time of Elisha the prophet;
yet not one of them was cleansed, but only Naaman the Syrian."
When the people in the synagogue heard this,
they were all filled with fury.
They rose up, drove him out of the town,
and led him to the brow of the hill
on which their town had been built, to hurl him down headlong.
But he passed through the midst of them and went away.

Meditacion:

Amen

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We read of the "Gospel on line"
We go to Jesus in the synagogue of Nazareth. It's Saturday, and Jesus stands up to read the Scriptures. It is a message of grace: bring the good news to the poor, release the prisoners and the oppressed and announce the favorable year of the Lord. The surprising thing is his comment: "Today this word is fulfilled before you." He is the prophet, he identifies himself as the one consecrated to announce to the people such good news, happy times for men.

We may be surprised by the reactions of his countrymen from Nazareth. So voluble, so human. From the outset, they admire the beauty and authority of their words; as many times, people were seduced. But soon weeds appear that grow in the human heart, and of which, often, Jesus speaks, and everything is twisted: hypocrisy, envy, formalistic religion, the image of God manipulated, unrecognized sin, whatever.

In addition, the prophet Jesus, in his message and in his projects, did not captivate the expectations of the people of his people. It presented a project, universal and of service, for the poor and captives who did not deem adequate to what belonged to them as peasants.

And we? Remembering the parable of the sower, we know how easily we move from a fervent reception of the Word to forgetfulness and a lukewarm attitude towards Jesus. (And do not think about rejection or infidelity).

More subtle and crooked would be the reaction of those who refuse the God of "grace and deliverance." And it is the God that Jesus reveals to us. Reaction that occurs! They estimate that he is a God of discounts because he does not insist on punishment, anger and desolation. How is it possible to love so many recent revelations with terrible messages that threaten us with a thousand imminent punishments from God?
How good it would be if we, as followers of Jesus, were always announcers of "times of grace", of freedom, of forgiveness, of justice. And if perhaps this can lead us to moments of being looked down upon (foolish, good-looking, you give weapons to the enemy, naive!) The Lord will tell us the last word.
"Lord and my Savior, help me to accept your words and receive your grace without objections or misgivings, so that I may become a good instrument of your peace." Amen

Talentos

Mt 25, 14-30

GospelMT 25:14-30

Jesus told his disciples this parable:
"A man going on a journey
called in his servants and entrusted his possessions to them.
To one he gave five talents; to another, two; to a third, one–
to each according to his ability.
Then he went away.
Immediately the one who received five talents went and traded with them,
and made another five.
Likewise, the one who received two made another two.
But the man who received one went off and dug a hole in the ground
and buried his master's money.
After a long time
the master of those servants came back and settled accounts with them.
The one who had received five talents
came forward bringing the additional five.
He said, 'Master, you gave me five talents.
See, I have made five more.'
His master said to him, 'Well done, my good and faithful servant.
Since you were faithful in small matters,
I will give you great responsibilities.
Come, share your master's joy.'
Then the one who had received two talents also came forward and said,
'Master, you gave me two talents.
See, I have made two more.'
His master said to him, 'Well done, my good and faithful servant.
Since you were faithful in small matters,
I will give you great responsibilities.
Come, share your master's joy.'
Then the one who had received the one talent came forward and said,
'Master, I knew you were a demanding person,
harvesting where you did not plant
and gathering where you did not scatter;
so out of fear I went off and buried your talent in the ground.
Here it is back.'
His master said to him in reply, 'You wicked, lazy servant!
So you knew that I harvest where I did not plant
and gather where I did not scatter?
Should you not then have put my money in the bank
so that I could have got it back with interest on my return?
Now then! Take the talent from him and give it to the one with ten.
For to everyone who has,
more will be given and he will grow rich;
but from the one who has not,
even what he has will be taken away.
And throw this useless servant into the darkness outside,
where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.'"

Meditacion:
Amen

Between yesterday's parable about virgins and oil and today's, it presents us with two moments in the life of each one of us.
While yesterday we were being urged to be ready for when God came back, today we are urged to be productive so that when God returns we can show a life that is profitable for the spirit.
We all have gifts (and most importantly) we all come to this world with everything we need to carry out the mission that God wants from us and learn the lessons we must learn. The fact that we are tall, short, prettier, less cute, intelligent or maybe, practiced with tools all has a meaning .. to cross the path of life by elevating ourselves and learning.
And those are our gifts, which we have to use again and again, being better people every day.
It is true that some talents are easier to see, to use and to put at the service of others. But it is also true that some talents are hidden, until we try to get them afloat. Have you ever considered, for example, if you could sing in the choir, or give some reinforcement courses in the parish, if you know mathematics, or visit a sick person (surely the parish priest thanks him, and the sick one, more) In short, things that are not too difficult, but that make others happy? Talents, asleep, buried, do not like the Lord very much. It is a matter of trial and error. Maybe you can ask in your group, in your parish, in Caritas, what you can lend a hand to.
The Lord of the parable returned after a very long time. But he came back. The return was not immediate, but it took place. In our case, the encounter with Christ will also happen, sooner or later. Are you using your talents as you should? Are you ready to give an account? He who has ears, let him hear.
"Beloved Lord, grant me your grace so that I may know how to take advantage of the opportunities you give me to use the gifts, talents and abilities you have given me for your kindness." Amen
