Mc 9, 2-13

En aquel tiempo, Jesús tomó aparte a Pedro, a Santiago y a Juan, subió con ellos a un monte alto y se transfiguró en su presencia. Sus vestiduras se pusieron esplendorosamente blancas, con una blancura que nadie puede lograr sobre la tierra. Después se les aparecieron Elías y Moisés, conversando con Jesús. 

Entonces Pedro le dijo a Jesús: "Maestro, ¡qué a gusto estamos aquí! Hagamos tres chozas, una para ti, otra para Moisés y otra para Elías". En realidad no sabía lo que decía, porque estaban asustados. 

Se formó entonces una nube, que los cubrió con su sombra, y de esta nube salió una voz que decía: "Éste es mi Hijo amado; escúchenlo". En ese momento miraron alrededor y no vieron a nadie sino a Jesús, que estaba solo con ellos. 

Cuando bajaban de la montaña, Jesús les mandó que no contaran a nadie lo que habían visto, hasta que el Hijo del hombre resucitara de entre los muertos. Ellos guardaron esto en secreto, pero discutían entre sí qué querría decir eso de 'resucitar de entre los muertos'. 

Le preguntaron a Jesús: "¿Por qué dicen los escribas que primero tiene que venir Elías?" Él les contestó: "Si fuera cierto que Elías tiene que venir primero y tiene que poner todo en orden, entonces ¿cómo es que está escrito que el Hijo del hombre tiene que padecer mucho y ser despreciado? Por lo demás, yo les aseguro que Elías ha venido ya y lo trataron a su antojo, como estaba escrito de él".

GospelMK 9:2-13

Jesus took Peter, James, and John
and led them up a high mountain apart by themselves.
And he was transfigured before them,
and his clothes became dazzling white,
such as no fuller on earth could bleach them.
Then Elijah appeared to them along with Moses,
and they were conversing with Jesus.
Then Peter said to Jesus in reply,
“Rabbi, it is good that we are here!
Let us make three tents:
one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” 
He hardly knew what to say, they were so terrified.
Then a cloud came, casting a shadow over them;
then from the cloud came a voice,
“This is my beloved Son. Listen to him.”
Suddenly, looking around, the disciples no longer saw anyone
but Jesus alone with them.

As they were coming down from the mountain,
he charged them not to relate what they had seen to anyone,
except when the Son of Man had risen from the dead.
So they kept the matter to themselves,
questioning what rising from the dead meant.
Then they asked him,
“Why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”
He told them, “Elijah will indeed come first and restore all things,
yet how is it written regarding the Son of Man
that he must suffer greatly and be treated with contempt?
But I tell you that Elijah has come
and they did to him whatever they pleased,
as it is written of him.”

Meditacion:

Despues de una semana en que hemos estado leyendo casi exclusivamente sobre la fe, el evangelio nos regala hoy una vision gloriosa de Jesus.

El evangelio de la transfiguracion me recuerda cuando uno tiene ese encuentro intimo y final con Dios.. suele ser al final de un retiro, suele ser en algun momento en que Dios toca nuestro corazon y entonces nos quedamos con la misma sensacion que tuvieron los apostoles "Maestro, ¡qué a gusto estamos aquí" porque nos sentimos amados, comprendidos, escuchados por nuestro creador.

Somos discípulos de Jesús, que continúan aprendiendo lo que significa ser seguidores suyos. Necesitamos recibir diariamente la enseñanza de Cristo y “escuchar la voz de Dios que nos llama desde la cima de la montaña… para ir [hasta allí] de prisa, como Jesús” (Sermón de San Anastasio), porque necesitamos su instrucción, su consuelo y su fortaleza, para que así experimentemos ahora mismo una parte de la plenitud que conoceremos cuando Jesús regrese en toda su gloria.

Cada día nos llama el Padre para que seamos renovados por su Hijo: en la Eucaristía, en la oración personal, en la meditación de su palabra o en el silencio de su presencia: “Sin duda, es bueno estar con Jesús y permanecer [con él] para siempre” (San Anastasio).

“Jesús, amado Salvador, no hay felicidad más grande que estar en comunión contigo y vivir en la luz. Ayúdanos a cumplir fielmente tus mandamientos y vivir según el amor y la verdad.” Amen

After a week in which we have been reading almost exclusively on faith, the Gospel today gives us a glorious vision of Jesus.

The gospel of the transfiguration reminds me when one has that intimate and final encounter with God ... it is usually at the end of a retreat, it is usually at some time when God touches our heart and then we are left with the same feeling that the apostles had "Teacher, how happy we are here" because we feel loved, understood, listened to by our creator.

We are disciples of Jesus, who continue to learn what it means to be his followers. We need to receive daily the teaching of Christ and "listen to the voice of God who calls us from the mountaintop ... to go [there] in haste, like Jesus" (Sermon de San Anastasio), because we need his instruction, his consolation and his strength, so that we may experience right now a part of the fullness that we will know when Jesus returns in all his glory.

Every day the Father calls us to be renewed by his Son: in the Eucharist, in personal prayer, in the meditation of his word or in the silence of his presence: "Without a doubt, it is good to be with Jesus and to remain [with he] forever "(San Anastasio).

"Jesus, beloved Savior, there is no happiness greater than being in communion with you and living in the light. Help us to faithfully fulfill your commandments and live according to love and truth. "Amen

San Pedro

Mt 16, 13-19 

En aquel tiempo, cuando llegó Jesús a la región de Cesarea de Filipo, hizo esta pregunta a sus discípulos: "¿Quién dice la gente que es el Hijo del hombre?" Ellos le respondieron: "Unos dicen que eres Juan el Bautista; otros, que Elías; otros, que Jeremías o alguno de los profetas". 

Luego les preguntó: "Y ustedes, ¿quién dicen que soy yo?" Simón Pedro tomó la palabra y le dijo: "Tú eres el Mesías, el Hijo de Dios vivo". Jesús le dijo entonces: "¡Dichoso tú, Simón, hijo de Juan, porque esto no te lo ha revelado ningún hombre, sino mi Padre que está en los cielos! Y yo te digo a ti que tú eres Pedro y sobre esta piedra edificaré mi Iglesia. Los poderes del infierno no prevalecerán sobre ella. Yo te daré las llaves del Reino de los cielos; todo lo que ates en la tierra quedará atado en el cielo y todo lo que desates en la tierra quedará desatado en el cielo".

GospelMT 16:13-19

When Jesus went into the region of Caesarea Philippi
he asked his disciples,
“Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”
They replied, “Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah,
still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
Simon Peter said in reply, 
“You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Jesus said to him in reply, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah.
For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father.
And so I say to you, you are Peter,
and upon this rock I will build my Church,
and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.
I will give you the keys to the Kingdom of heaven.
Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven;
and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

Meditacion:

Hoy se celebra a San Pedro, primer Papa de la Iglesia Catolica y por lo tanto las lecturas y el salmo aluden a los pastores, clerigos y sacerdotes encargados de guiar al pueblo de Dios.

En la primera lectura, un parrafo especialmente me llamo la atencion por lo actual:

"Apacienten el rebaño que Dios les ha confiado y cuiden de él no como obligados por la fuerza, sino de buena gana, como Dios quiere; no por ambición de dinero, sino con entrega generosa; no como si ustedes fueran los dueños de las comunidades que se les han confiado, sino dando buen ejemplo. Y cuando aparezca el Pastor supremo, recibirán el premio inmortal de la gloria"

En este momento que por alli vemos sacerdotes cansados y sin ganas, este fragmento de una de las cartas de San Pedro nos invita a renacer con mas fuerzas.

Pero volviendo al evangelio, San Pedro no siempre fue la roca que Jesus parece mostrarnos en el evangelio de hoy... personalmente me parece alguien que era bastante bipolar... amaba a Jesus pero lo niega 3 veces; tiene bastantes arrebatos de enojo, se confunde muchas veces... uno pensaria que no es precisamente la persona para llevar a cabo la fundacion de la Iglesia primitiva.

Pero una cosa lo salvaba: Amaba entrañablemente al Señor Jesús y fue dócil a la inspiración del Espíritu Santo. Con el correr de los años, su apostolado se fue perfilando claramente, y su carácter se fue forjando en el crisol de la persecución y el sufrimiento; solo el amor y la fidelidad a Cristo le permitieron llegar hasta el final. Por eso, ahora, al escuchar la lectura de su primera carta, vemos que finalmente llegó a ser, no solo un cristiano maduro y sabio, sino el primer Papa de la Iglesia.

Así también, si todos nos mantenemos unidos a Cristo y nos dedicamos a la oración, la meditación de la Palabra de Dios, la recepción de los Sacramentos y el servicio al prójimo, podemos llegar a ser también cristianos sabios y maduros y llenos de fe.

“Señor, crea un mí un corazón nuevo para conocerte, amarte y vivir en tu Iglesia el mandamiento nuevo del amor y la nueva alianza que has querido establecer libremente conmigo y con todos los que te aman.” Amen

Today is celebrated Saint Peter, first Pope of the Catholic Church and therefore the readings and the psalm allude to the pastors, clergy and priests in charge of guiding the people of God.

In the first reading, a paragraph especially called my attention for the current:

"Feed the flock that God has entrusted to you and take care of it not as forced by force, but willingly, as God wants, not for the ambition of money, but with generous dedication, not as if you were the owners of the communities that they have been entrusted, if not giving a good example, and when the supreme Shepherd appears, they will receive the immortal prize of glory "

At this moment that we see priests tired and reluctant, this fragment of one of the letters of St. Peter invites us to be reborn with more strength.

But going back to the gospel, Saint Peter was not always the rock that Jesus seems to show us in today's Gospel ... personally I find someone who was quite bipolar ... he loved Jesus but he denies it 3 times; he has many outbursts of anger, he is confused many times ... one would think that he is not precisely the person to carry out the foundation of the primitive Church.

But one thing saved him: He loved the Lord Jesus dearly and was docile to the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Over the years, his apostolate was clearly outlined, and his character was forged in the crucible of persecution and suffering; only love and fidelity to Christ allowed him to reach the end. Therefore, now, upon hearing the reading of his first letter, we see that he finally became, not only a mature and wise Christian, but the first Pope of the Church.

Likewise, if we all remain united to Christ and dedicate ourselves to prayer, meditation on the Word of God, reception of the Sacraments and service to others, we can also become wise and mature Christians and full of faith.

"Lord, create a new heart for me to know you, love you and live in your Church the new commandment of love and the new covenant you have wanted to establish freely with me and with all those who love you." Amen

Cerrando el circulo...

Mc 8, 27-33 

En aquel tiempo, Jesús y sus discípulos se dirigieron a los poblados de Cesarea de Filipo. 
Por el camino les hizo esta pregunta: "¿Quién dice la gente que soy yo?" Ellos le contestaron: "Algunos dicen que eres Juan el Bautista; otros, que Elías; y otros, que alguno de los profetas". 

Entonces él les preguntó: "Y ustedes, ¿quién dicen que soy yo?" Pedro le respondió: "Tú eres el Mesías". Y él les ordenó que no se lo dijeran a nadie. 

Luego se puso a explicarles que era necesario que el Hijo del hombre padeciera mucho, que fuera rechazado por los ancianos, los sumos sacerdotes y los escribas, que fuera entregado a la muerte y resucitara al tercer día. 

Todo esto lo dijo con entera claridad. Entonces Pedro se lo llevó aparte y trataba de disuadirlo. Jesús se volvió, y mirando a sus discípulos, reprendió a Pedro con estas palabras: "¡Apártate de mí, Satanás! Porque tú no juzgas según Dios, sino según los hombres".

GospelMK 8:27-33

Jesus and his disciples set out
for the villages of Caesarea Philippi.
Along the way he asked his disciples,
“Who do people say that I am?”
They said in reply,
“John the Baptist, others Elijah,
still others one of the prophets.”
And he asked them,
“But who do you say that I am?”
Peter said to him in reply,
“You are the Christ.”
 
Then he warned them not to tell anyone about him.

He began to teach them
that the Son of Man must suffer greatly
and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes,
and be killed, and rise after three days.
He spoke this openly.
Then Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.
At this he turned around and, looking at his disciples,
rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind me, Satan.
You are thinking not as God does, but as human beings do.”

Meditacion:

¡Qué asombrosa declaración! Los fariseos, a pesar de los milagros que habían presenciado, exigían otra señal más. Pero cuando Jesús trató de advertir a sus discípulos que se cuidaran de la hipocresía de los fariseos, ellos entendieron algo totalmente distinto. Finalmente, cuando Jesús quiso curar al ciego de Betsaida, solamente pudo hacerlo gradualmente. Tampoco Pedro ni los demás discípulos recibieron la vista espiritual completa de inmediato; ellos también aprendieron a ver gradualmente.

Con esta declaración, “Tú eres el Mesías”, al parecer San Pedro había llegado finalmente a entender quién era Jesús y por qué había venido al mundo. Con todo, como sucedía con el ciego que había sanado en forma parcial, la visión de San Pedro todavía no era clara del todo. Cuando Jesús comenzó a explicar que luego tenía que sufrir y morir, el apóstol demostró que no entendía las consecuencias de lo que él mismo acababa de decir. Habiendo afirmado que Jesús era el ungido de Dios, ¡se puso a discutir con él!

Cuando declaramos que Jesús es el Señor, ¿entendemos realmente lo que eso significa? Los discípulos pensaban que sabían lo que debían esperar del Mesías: Demostraciones de poder político y un carisma que lo hiciera cada vez más popular. Pero no entendían que Jesús venía a vencer al pecado tomando sobre sí mismo el castigo que todos merecíamos, llevando en su propio cuerpo las consecuencias de nuestra desobediencia.

Probablemente todos estamos de acuerdo en que Jesús es el Mesías. Pero ¿hasta qué punto relacionamos esa declaración con su muerte en la Cruz? ¿Es posible que tengamos miedo de mirar a nuestro propio corazón y ver la profunda necesidad que tenemos de perdón y liberación? Pero esta es la buena noticia del Evangelio: Jesús nos ha perdonado y librado del poder esclavizador del pecado. En efecto, tenemos un Salvador que nos ama, de manera que no hay por qué tener miedo de escudriñar el corazón porque el Señor ya sabe lo que hay allí y nos ofrece su libertad y su amor. Todo lo que nos pide es que confiemos en él sin reservas y creamos en su palabra y en su amor sanador.

“Jesús, Señor nuestro, abre nuestros ojos y ayúdanos a creer que por tu muerte y tu resurrección has derrotado el poder del pecado y que ofreces salud y una nueva vida a todos los que a ti se acogen.” Amen

What an amazing statement! The Pharisees, in spite of the miracles they had witnessed, demanded another signal. But when Jesus tried to warn his disciples to beware of the hypocrisy of the Pharisees, they understood something entirely different. Finally, when Jesus wanted to cure the blind man from Bethsaida, he could only do it gradually. Neither Peter nor the other disciples received the full spiritual sight immediately; they also learned to see gradually.

With this statement, "You are the Messiah," apparently St. Peter had finally come to understand who Jesus was and why he had come into the world. However, as with the blind man who had partially healed, the vision of St. Peter was still not clear at all. When Jesus began to explain that he then had to suffer and die, the apostle showed that he did not understand the consequences of what he had just said. Having affirmed that Jesus was the anointed of God, he began to argue with him!

When we declare that Jesus is the Lord, do we really understand what that means? The disciples thought they knew what they should expect from the Messiah: Demonstrations of political power and a charisma that made it increasingly popular. But they did not understand that Jesus came to overcome sin by taking upon himself the punishment we all deserved, bearing in his own body the consequences of our disobedience.

We probably all agree that Jesus is the Messiah. But to what extent do we relate that statement to his death on the Cross? Is it possible that we are afraid to look at our own heart and see the deep need we have for forgiveness and liberation? But this is the good news of the Gospel: Jesus has forgiven us and freed us from the enslaving power of sin. In fact, we have a Savior who loves us, so there is no need to be afraid to search the heart because the Lord already knows what is there and offers us his freedom and love. All he asks is that we trust him without reservations and believe in his word and in his healing love.

"Jesus, our Lord, open our eyes and help us to believe that by your death and your resurrection you have defeated the power of sin and that you offer health and a new life to all those who welcome you."

Mc 8, 22-26

En aquel tiempo, Jesús y sus discípulos llegaron a Betsaida y enseguida le llevaron a Jesús un ciego y le pedían que lo tocara. Tomándolo de la mano, Jesús lo sacó del pueblo, le puso saliva en los ojos, le impuso las manos y le preguntó: "¿Ves algo?" El ciego, empezando a ver, le dijo: "Veo a la gente, como si fueran árboles que caminan". 

Jesús le volvió a imponer las manos en los ojos y el hombre comenzó a ver perfectamente bien: estaba curado y veía todo con claridad. Jesús lo mandó a su casa, diciéndole: "Vete a tu casa, y si pasas por el pueblo, no se lo digas a nadie"

GospelMK 8:22-26

When Jesus and his disciples arrived at Bethsaida,
people brought to him a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him.
He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village.
Putting spittle on his eyes he laid his hands on the man and asked,
“Do you see anything?”
Looking up the man replied, “I see people looking like trees and walking.”
Then he laid hands on the man’s eyes a second time and he saw clearly;
his sight was restored and he could see everything distinctly.
Then he sent him home and said, “Do not even go into the village.”

Meditacion:

Venimos leyendo en paralelo en la primera lectura el genesis, desde su comienzo hasta el diluvio universal que es la lectura de hoy. Moises espera 40 dias y despues manda, finalmente, una paloma que ya no vuelve, indicando que la tierra estaba ya seca.

En el evangelio, leemos el milagro del ciego de Betsaida. Las dos lecturas nos recuerdan lo que venimos meditando tambien, la fe y nuestra capacidad de crecer en la fe.

Ayer hablando con un padre de familia que despues de estar fuertemente involucrado en la parroquia se habia alejado un poco le decia que la fe era el mejor camino para una vida familiar feliz. Donde hay fe, no entra el demonio, no entran las adicciones, no entran los conflictos.

Cuando uno camina el camino de la fe y de la gracia,  sin querer casi damos porque nos nace.

El ciego de Betsaida primero ve sombras, despues ve ya mejor. Jesus le manda (como al paralitico que leiamos los otros dias) a que no diga nada. Posiblemente estos hombres aun necesitaban hacer algunos cambios en su vida para ajustarse al milagro que habian recibido. Porque un milagro sin fe, no es milagro, es suerte.

Muchas veces sin saberlo hemos recibido milagros sin saberlo. Una relacion que no prospero, un trabajo que no salio y nos enojamos pero no sabemos de lo que Dios nos salvo en ese momento.

Y muchas veces, cuando el milagro es positivo y claro en nuestras vidas, nosotros mismos lo desestimamos por falta de fe, no vemos en ese momento la mano de Dios ayudandonos. Fe. Todo se mueve por fe de la mano de Dios hermanos.

“Jesús, Señor mío, quiero experimentar una curación completa. Muéstrame todo lo que yo diga o haga que sea un obstáculo para la curación de mi persona. Señor, ¡haz en mí tu voluntad!” Amen

We come reading in parallel in the first reading the genesis, from its beginning to the universal flood that is the reading of today. Moises waits 40 days and then sends, finally, a pigeon that does not return, indicating that the earth was already dry.

In the gospel, we read the miracle of the blind man of Bethsaida. The two readings remind us of what we have been meditating too, faith and our ability to grow in faith.

Yesterday, talking to a family man who, after being strongly involved in the parish, had gone a little way, told him that faith was the best way to a happy family life. Where there is faith, the devil does not enter, addictions do not enter, conflicts do not enter.

When one walks the path of faith and grace, without wanting we almost give because we are born.

The blind man of Bethsaida first sees shadows, then he sees better. Jesus sends him (like the paralytic we read the other days) to say nothing. Possibly these men still needed to make some changes in their lives to adjust to the miracle they had received. Because a miracle without faith, it's not a miracle, it's luck.

Many times without knowing it we have received miracles without knowing it. A relationship that did not prosper, a job that did not come out and we got angry but we do not know what God saved us in that moment.

And many times, when the miracle is positive and clear in our lives, we dismiss it for lack of faith, we do not see at that moment the hand of God helping us. Faith. Everything moves by faith of the hand of God brothers.

"Jesus, my Lord, I want to experience a complete healing. Show me everything I say or make it an obstacle to the healing of my person. Lord, do your will in me! "Amen

Estar conectados

Mc 8, 14-21

En aquel tiempo, cuando los discípulos iban con Jesús en la barca, se dieron cuenta de que se les había olvidado llevar pan; sólo tenían uno. Jesús les hizo esta advertencia: "Fíjense bien y cuídense de la levadura de los fariseos y de la de Herodes". Entonces ellos comentaban entre sí: "Es que no tenemos panes".

Dándose cuenta de ello, Jesús les dijo: "¿Por qué están comentando que no trajeron panes? ¿Todavía no entienden ni acaban de comprender? ¿Tan embotada está su mente? ¿Para qué tienen ustedes ojos, si no ven, y oídos, si no oyen? ¿No recuerdan cuántos canastos de sobras recogieron, cuando repartí cinco panes entre cinco mil hombres?" Ellos le contestaron: "Doce". Y añadió: "¿Y cuántos canastos de sobras recogieron cuando repartí siete panes entre cuatro mil?" Le respondieron: "Siete". Entonces él dijo: "¿Y todavía no acaban de comprender?"

GospelMK 8:14-21

The disciples had forgotten to bring bread,
and they had only one loaf with them in the boat.
Jesus enjoined them, “Watch out,
guard against the leaven of the Pharisees
and the leaven of Herod.” 
They concluded among themselves that
it was because they had no bread.
When he became aware of this he said to them,
“Why do you conclude that it is because you have no bread?
Do you not yet understand or comprehend?
Are your hearts hardened?
Do you have eyes and not see, ears and not hear?
And do you not remember,
when I broke the five loaves for the five thousand,
how many wicker baskets full of fragments you picked up?”
They answered him, “Twelve.”
“When I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand,
how many full baskets of fragments did you pick up?”
They answered him, “Seven.”
He said to them, “Do you still not understand?”

Meditacion:

Logicamente Jesus tenia "linea directa con el cielo"; a diferencia nuestra, nunca se desconectaba de su mision y siempre estaba como diriamos "en la jugada".

Mientras tanto los apostoles se preocupaban porque no habian llevado suficiente pan, Jesus les dice algo que no comprenden: "Fíjense bien y cuídense de la levadura de los fariseos y de la de Herodes".

Porque les dice esto? Porque los apostoles discutian sobre algo tan material como el pan y Jesus les habia mostrado que podia dar de comer y aun sobrar, venian de ver el milagro de la multiplicacion de los panes y los peces y se seguian preocupando por algo tan pequeno como que no tenia suficiente pan.

Muchas veces a nosotros nos pasa lo mismo. Andamos mas preocupados por nuestros propios problemas y alrededor nuestro los milagros se suceden pero, sencillamente, no podemos verlos.

Aprendamos a caminar con Jesus y a agradecer los pequenos milagros diarios... tenemos salud, tenemos una familia que se preocupa por nosotros, tenemos un techo, amigos que nos acercan el evangelio y que no nos alejan de la Iglesia...

Esos son los milagros de la gracia; ahora es tiempo de poner de nuestro lado y generar esos mismos milagros para otras personas... seamos buenos, misericordiosos, alegres de corazon y hablemos de Jesus, hablemos del amor de Dios aunque nos miren raro. Seremos de esa manera, herramientas en las manos de nuestro creador.

“Gracias, Jesús, Señor mío, por no dejarme solo, aun cuando no te vea. Gracias por todas las veces que me has protegido y me has dado fuerzas para soportar las dificultades. Eres maravilloso y te amo. Amén.”

Logically Jesus had "direct line with heaven"; unlike ours, he never disconnected from his mission and was always as we would say "on the play".

Meanwhile the apostles were worried because they had not brought enough bread, Jesus tells them something they do not understand: "Look carefully and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of Herod."

Why does he tell you this? Because the apostles argued about something as material as bread and Jesus had shown them that he could feed and still have left, they came to see the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes and they continued worrying about something as small as not I had enough bread.

Many times the same thing happens to us. We are more concerned about our own problems and around us miracles happen but, simply, we can not see them.

Let us learn to walk with Jesus and to thank the little daily miracles ... we have health, we have a family that cares for us, we have a roof, friends who bring us the gospel and who do not take us away from the Church ...

These are the miracles of grace; now is the time to put on our side and generate those same miracles for other people ... let's be good, merciful, happy in heart and talk about Jesus, let's talk about God's love even if they look at us strangely. We will be that way, tools in the hands of our creator.

"Thank you, Jesus, my Lord, for not leaving me alone, even when I do not see you. Thank you for all the times you have protected me and given me strength to withstand the difficulties. You are wonderful and I love you. Amen."

Signos en el cielo

Mc 8, 11-13

En aquel tiempo, se acercaron a Jesús los fariseos y se pusieron a discutir con él, y para ponerlo a prueba, le pedían una señal del cielo. Jesús suspiró profundamente y dijo: "¿Por qué esta gente busca una señal? Les aseguro que a esta gente no se le dará ninguna señal".

Entonces los dejó, se embarcó de nuevo y se fue a la otra orilla

The Pharisees came forward and began to argue with Jesus,
seeking from him a sign from heaven to test him.
He sighed from the depth of his spirit and said,
“Why does this generation seek a sign?
Amen, I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation.”
Then he left them, got into the boat again,
and went off to the other shore.

Meditacion:

El evangelio de hoy me recuerda cuantas veces tambien nosotros pedimos una senal del cielo para creer. Desafiamos a Dios a que nos haga un milagro y a cambio ofrecemos una y mil cosas.

No crean que jamas lo he pensado. Mirado a la distancia, me sonrio pensando que uno no puede extorsionar a Dios.

Muchas veces pedimos cosas vanas como ganarnos la loteria pero otras cosas muy personales y necesarias como la salud para alguno de nuestros hijos.

"No hay ateos en las trincheras" dice un dicho y la verdad que hasta el mas recalcitrante ateo ante un peligro extremo se vuelve a Dios en busqueda de misericordia.

Si dejaramos que la fe entrara en nosotros como un agua divina y refrescante, nuestra vision de la vida cambiaria y veriamos todo en funcion de Dios y no de nuestra propia vida.

La fe no se fortalece en el llano sino en la montana de las dificultades y problemas de cada dia por lo que debemos estar dispuestos a aceptar nuestra fe con alegria y sin olvidarnos jamas del servicio a los demas.

La vida con fe es una vida que ha logrado algo que parece imposible: hacer bajar el cielo a la tierra.

“Jesús amado, tu amor me deja siempre asombrado. Lléname el corazón de tu amor divino, Señor, para que yo pueda prodigarlo a los demás.” Amen

Today's Gospel reminds me how many times we also ask for a sign from heaven to believe. We challenge God to make us a miracle and in exchange we offer one and a thousand things.

Do not believe that I have never thought about it. Looked at the distance, he smiled at me thinking that one can not extort God.

Many times we ask for vain things like winning the lottery but other very personal and necessary things such as health for some of our children.

"There are no atheists in the trenches" says a saying and the truth that even the most recalcitrant atheist in the face of extreme danger turns to God in search of mercy.

If we let faith enter us as a divine and refreshing water, our vision of life would change and we would see everything as a function of God and not of our own life.

The faith is not strengthened in the plain but in the mountain of the difficulties and problems of each day so we must be willing to accept our faith with joy and never forgetting the service to others.

Life with faith is a life that has achieved something that seems impossible: to bring heaven down to earth.

"Jesus, beloved, your love always leaves me amazed. Fill me with the heart of your divine love, Lord, so that I may lavish it on others. "Amen

La multiplicacion

Mc 8, 1-10

En aquellos días, vio Jesús que lo seguía mucha gente y no tenían qué comer. Entonces llamó a sus discípulos y les dijo: "Me da lástima esta gente: ya llevan tres días conmigo y no tienen qué comer. Si los mando a sus casas en ayunas, se van a desmayar en el camino. Además, algunos han venido de lejos".

Sus discípulos le respondieron: "¿Y dónde se puede conseguir pan, aquí en despoblado, para que coma esta gente?" Él les preguntó: "¿Cuántos panes tienen?" Ellos le contestaron: "Siete".

Jesús mandó a la gente que se sentara en el suelo; tomó los siete panes, pronunció la acción de gracias, los partió y se los fue dando a sus discípulos, para que los distribuyeran. Y ellos los fueron distribuyendo entre la gente.

Tenían, además, unos cuantos pescados. Jesús los bendijo también y mandó que los distribuyeran. La gente comió hasta quedar satisfecha, y todavía se recogieron siete canastos de sobras. Eran unos cuatro mil. Jesús los despidió y luego se embarcó con sus discípulos y llegó a la región de Dalmanuta.

GospelMK 8:1-10

In those days when there again was a great crowd without anything to eat,
Jesus summoned the disciples and said,
“My heart is moved with pity for the crowd,
because they have been with me now for three days
and have nothing to eat.
If I send them away hungry to their homes,
they will collapse on the way,
and some of them have come a great distance.”
His disciples answered him, “Where can anyone get enough bread
to satisfy them here in this deserted place?”
Still he asked them, “How many loaves do you have?”
They replied, “Seven.”
He ordered the crowd to sit down on the ground.
Then, taking the seven loaves he gave thanks, broke them,
and gave them to his disciples to distribute,
and they distributed them to the crowd.
They also had a few fish.
He said the blessing over them
and ordered them distributed also.
They ate and were satisfied.
They picked up the fragments left over–seven baskets.
There were about four thousand people.

He dismissed the crowd and got into the boat with his disciples
and came to the region of Dalmanutha.

Meditacion:

Muchas veces en nuestra vida nos encontramos como uno de los 4000 seguidores de Jesus... en medio del desierto, con hambre y con sed e imposibilitados de ir a comprar sencillamente porque no hay nada, estamos solos, nos sentimos abandonados.

Fijense un par de cosas interesantes en este evangelio. El milagro se produce fuera de Palestina, en tierra pagana y en un lugar desertico.

Es como si Jesus hubiera significado que la salvacion era para todos. Y cuando creemos en El, el milagro se produce.

No hay una receta para que Dios nos conceda lo que pedimos muchas veces, con insistencia. En mi experiencia, mas que pedir hay que agradecer porque cualquier resolucion a nuestros conflictos que  dejemos en manos de Dios siempre sera lo mejor para nuestro camino espiritual, aunque no sea muchas veces la resolucion que esperamos.

Pero la suma de voluntades y fe produce milagros.

Dejemos hermanos y hermanas que Jesus nos alimente con sus conocimientos y amor fraternal y salgamos a mostrarlo a otros hermanos hoy y siempre.

“Padre celestial, perdóname por creerme autosuficiente y acepta mi declaración de que pongo mi vida entera en tus manos santas y poderosas.” Amen

Many times in our lives we find ourselves as one of the 4000 followers of Jesus ... in the middle of the desert, hungry and thirsty and unable to go shopping simply because there is nothing, we are alone, we feel abandoned.

Look for a couple of interesting things in this gospel. The miracle takes place outside of Palestine, in pagan land and in a desert place.

It's as if Jesus had meant that salvation was for everyone. And when we believe in Him, the miracle occurs.

There is no recipe for God to grant us what we ask many times, with insistence. In my experience, more than asking, we should be grateful because any resolution to our conflicts that we leave in the hands of God will always be the best for our spiritual journey, even if it is not often the resolution we hope for.

But the sum of wills and faith produces miracles.

Let brothers and sisters let Jesus feed us with his knowledge and brotherly love and let us show him to other brothers today and always.

"Heavenly Father, forgive me for believing me self-sufficient and accept my statement that I put my whole life in your holy and powerful hands." Amen
