El leproso

Lc 5, 12-16

En aquel tiempo, estando Jesús en un poblado, llegó un leproso, y al ver a Jesús, se postró rostro en tierra, diciendo: "Señor, si quieres, puedes curarme". Jesús extendió la mano y lo tocó, diciendo: "Quiero. Queda limpio". Y al momento desapareció la lepra. Entonces Jesús le ordenó que no lo dijera a nadie y añadió: "Ve, preséntate al sacerdote y ofrece por tu purificación lo que Moisés prescribió. Eso les servirá de testimonio".

Y su fama se extendía más y más. Las muchedumbres acudían a oírlo y a ser curados de sus enfermedades. Pero Jesús se retiraba a lugares solitarios para orar.

GospelLK 5:12-16

It happened that there was a man full of leprosy in one of the towns where Jesus was;
and when he saw Jesus,
he fell prostrate, pleaded with him, and said,
"Lord, if you wish, you can make me clean." 
Jesus stretched out his hand, touched him, and said,
"I do will it.  Be made clean." 
And the leprosy left him immediately. 
Then he ordered him not to tell anyone, but
"Go, show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing
what Moses prescribed; that will be proof for them." 
The report about him spread all the more,
and great crowds assembled to listen to him
and to be cured of their ailments,
but he would withdraw to deserted places to pray.

Meditacion:

El evangelio de hoy es tremendamente actual. Y se puede leer en varios sentidos. Por un lado nos podemos concentrar en los leprosos de nuestro tiempo... nosotros mismos con nuestros pecados somos leprosos modernos, sin contar todos los demas que caminamos por esta tierra... los adictos, las personas mayores, los inmigrantes... todos hermanos que necesitan de nuestra ayuda, nuestro amor, nuestra comprension.

Todos ellos pueden ser curados por nosotros con la ayuda del Espiritu Santo. 

Y tambien podemos interpretar esta escritura de una manera diferente, viendo como Jesus no rompe con la estructura religiosa de su epoca, le manda al ex leproso a que haga los sacrificios que Moises prescribio.

Entonces aca yo encuentro una buena vara para medir tantas personas que a veces nos quieren convencer que la Iglesia no sirve o que no nos hace falta. Incluso Jesus respeto (si bien marcaba muy criticamente sus defectos) la religion de su tiempo.

Porque su cambio, su revolucion no era de romper y volver a fundar como todos nosotros creemos. Muchas veces escucho a hermanos que hablan de que la Iglesia esta mal o que el Papa esto o lo otro; especialmente en este tiempo, que surgieron tantas denuncias sobre abuso sexual.

Incluso Jesus respetaba lo que habia sido mandado hacer muchos años antes. 

Entonces hermanos hagamos un resumen. Por un lado, salgamos al mundo a ayudar a nuestros hermanos que nos necesitan; por el otro, dejemos de renegar sobre nuestra Iglesia y ayudemos a su cambio. Amen

The gospel of today is tremendously current. And it can be read in several ways. On the one hand we can concentrate on the lepers of our time ... we ourselves with our sins are modern lepers, not counting all the others who walk on this earth ... the addicts, the elderly, the immigrants ... all brothers who need our help, our love, our understanding.

All of them can be cured by us with the help of the Holy Spirit.

And we can also interpret this scripture in a different way, seeing how Jesus does not break with the religious structure of his time, he sends the former leper to make the sacrifices that Moses prescribed.

So here I find a good yardstick to measure so many people who sometimes want to convince us that the Church does not work or that we do not need it. Even Jesus respected (although it marked very critically his defects) the religion of his time.

Because his change, his revolution was not to break and refound as we all believe. Many times I listen to brothers who talk about the Church being wrong or about the Pope this or that; Especially at this time, there were so many complaints about sexual abuse.

Even Jesus respected what had been commanded many years before.

Jesus en la sinagoga

Lc 4, 14-22

En aquel tiempo, con la fuerza del Espíritu, Jesús volvió a Galilea. Iba enseñando en las sinagogas; todos lo alababan y su fama se extendió por toda la región.

Fue también a Nazaret, donde se había criado. Entró en la sinagoga, como era su costumbre hacerlo los sábados, y se levantó para hacer la lectura. Se le dio el volumen del profeta Isaías, lo desenrolló y encontró el pasaje en que estaba escrito: El Espíritu del Señor está sobre mí, porque me ha ungido para llevar a los pobres la buena nueva, para anunciar la liberación a los cautivos y la curación a los ciegos, para dar libertad a los oprimidos y proclamar el año de gracia del Señor.

Enrolló el volumen, lo devolvió al encargado y se sentó. Los ojos de todos los asistentes a la sinagoga estaban fijos en él. Entonces comenzó a hablar, diciendo: "Hoy mismo se ha cumplido este pasaje de la Escritura que acaban de oír".

Todos le daban su aprobación y admiraban la sabiduría de las palabras que salían de sus labios.

GospelLK 4:14-22

Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit,
and news of him spread throughout the whole region. 
He taught in their synagogues and was praised by all.

He came to Nazareth, where he had grown up,
and went according to his custom
into the synagogue on the sabbath day. 
He stood up to read and was handed a scroll of the prophet Isaiah. 
He unrolled the scroll and found the passage where it was written:
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to bring glad tidings to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives
and recovery of sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed go free,
and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.

Rolling up the scroll, he handed it back to the attendant and sat down,
and the eyes of all in the synagogue looked intently at him. 
He said to them,
"Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing." 
And all spoke highly of him
and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his mouth.

Meditacion:

El evangelio de hoy nos pinta una escena hermosa. Cuando sucede, ya Jesus habia sido bautizado por Juan y era un rabbi (maestro) importante. Sin duda para los presentes en la sinagoga, que Jesus proclamara era un acontecimiento por sus profundos conocimientos de la Ley y sus reflexiones.

Me puedo imaginar el silencio enorme y las palabras de Jesus que, arrebatado ya por el Espiritu Santo, proclama el cumplimiento de lo escrito.

Es un momento importante que nosotros hemos vivido tambien. Cada vez que salimos de un retiro y nos sentimos tocados por el Espiritu Divino, nos sentimos como Jesus en la sinagoga.

Los presentes en la sinagoga esperaban con sumo interés lo que Jesús les dijera, por eso estaban pendientes de sus palabras. Ojalá nosotros tuviésemos el mismo deseo intenso de recibir la Palabra de Dios al leerla cada día y al escucharla en Misa. Conforme la Iglesia continúe enseñándonos acerca de Jesús en este tiempo de Navidad, comprometámonos a leer la Biblia cada día, especialmente los evangelios, para que conozcamos a Jesús y nos maravillemos de sus palabras.

“Señor Jesús, te pido que me liberes de los pensamientos que me hacen creer que estoy demasiado ocupado para leer tu palabra diariamente. Abre mis ojos para que yo entienda lo que lea, y lléname de tu Espíritu para que, al leer, pueda fijar la mirada en ti.” Amen

The gospel of today paints us a beautiful scene. When it happens, Jesus had already been baptized by John and was an important rabbi (teacher). No doubt for those present in the synagogue, that Jesus proclaimed was an event because of his deep knowledge of the Law and its reflections.

I can imagine the enormous silence and the words of Jesus that, already snatched by the Holy Spirit, proclaims the fulfillment of what is written.

It is an important moment that we have lived too. Every time we leave a retreat and feel touched by the Divine Spirit, we feel like Jesus in the synagogue.

Those present in the synagogue waited with great interest for what Jesus told them, that is why they were waiting for his words. I wish we had the same intense desire to receive the Word of God by reading it every day and listening to it at Mass. As the Church continues to teach us about Jesus at this Christmas season, let us commit ourselves to reading the Bible every day, especially the Gospels, so that we may know Jesus and be amazed by his words.

"Lord Jesus, I ask you to free me from the thoughts that make me believe that I am too busy to read your word daily. Open my eyes so that I understand what you read, and fill me with your Spirit so that, when reading, I can fix my gaze on you. "Amen

Las tormentas de la vida

Mc 6, 45-52

En aquel tiempo, después de la multiplicación de los panes, Jesús apremió a sus discípulos a que subieran a la barca y se dirigieran a Betsaida, mientras él despedía a la gente. Después de despedirlos, se retiró al monte a orar.

Entrada la noche, la barca estaba en medio del lago y Jesús, solo, en tierra. Viendo los trabajos con que avanzaban, pues el viento les era contrario, se dirigió a ellos caminando sobre el agua, poco antes del amanecer, y parecía que iba a pasar de largo.

Al verlo andar sobre el agua, ellos creyeron que era un fantasma y se pusieron a gritar, porque todos lo habían visto y estaban espantados. Pero él les habló enseguida y les dijo: "¡Ánimo! Soy yo; no teman". Subió a la barca con ellos y se calmó el viento. Todos estaban llenos de espanto y es que no habían entendido el episodio de los panes, pues tenían la mente embotada.

GospelMK 6:45-52

After the five thousand had eaten and were satisfied,
Jesus made his disciples get into the boat
and precede him to the other side toward Bethsaida,
while he dismissed the crowd. 
And when he had taken leave of them,
he went off to the mountain to pray. 
When it was evening,
the boat was far out on the sea and he was alone on shore. 
Then he saw that they were tossed about while rowing,
for the wind was against them. 
About the fourth watch of the night,
he came toward them walking on the sea. 
He meant to pass by them.  
But when they saw him walking on the sea,
they thought it was a ghost and cried out. 
They had all seen him and were terrified. 
But at once he spoke with them,
"Take courage, it is I, do not be afraid!" 
He got into the boat with them and the wind died down. 
They were completely astounded. 
They had not understood the incident of the loaves. 
On the contrary, their hearts were hardened.

Meditacion:

No hay muchos pasajes del evangelio donde el amor que Jesus tenia por sus discipulos quedara tan claro como en el pasaje de la tormenta sobre el lago.

Y no hay referencia mas clara a nuestra propia vida turbulente y al temor que muchas veces las cosas por las que pasamos cada dia nos causa que esta.

"Donde hay amor no hay miedo. Al contrario, el amor perfecto echa fuera el miedo". (1 Juan 4, 18).  Muchas veces olvidamos esta sencilla frase de la carta de Juan para abandonarnos a un mar de inseguridades ante cada cosa que nos pasa en la vida.

Nos olvidamos que Dios nos ama con amor de Padre y hasta mando su hijo para que diera su vida por nosotros. 

La raíz de muchos de estos temores son las ideas mundanas que atribuyen más valor a lo que cada uno logra realizar que al carácter o la integridad de lo que uno es en Cristo. Al contrario de esta filosofía del mundo, el Espíritu Santo procura fortalecer nuestra fe y darnos a conocer el asombroso y perfecto amor de Dios. En el Señor estamos seguros y no tenemos nada que temer. El Padre nos ha dado a su Hijo Jesús para nuestra salvación eterna (1 Juan 4, 14), y él permanece en nuestro ser mediante el Espíritu Santo, comunicándonos confianza, alegría y fortaleza frente a las luchas de la vida diaria. El Señor quiere equiparnos con diversos dones espirituales para que estemos dispuestos a realizar con alegría la misión que desea darnos.

Cuando nos asalte el temor, recordemos que Dios es eterno y perfecto y que su plan se cumplirá y nos concederá la paz, esa paz que no es como la pasajera tranquilidad que da el mundo a fuerza de conseguir poder, riquezas y obras extraordinarias. Dios es digno de nuestra fe y sus designios son magníficos. Deja que la lluvia refrescante de su amor caiga con generosidad sobre tus necesidades físicas y espirituales y aprende a rendir tu corazón a la gracia del Señor.

“Padre eterno, pongo en tus santas manos todos mis temores. Lléname de tu amor, Señor, para sanar de mis heridas y poner toda mi confianza en ti.” Amen

There are not many gospel passages where the love that Jesus had for his disciples would be as clear as in the passage of the storm over the lake.

And there is no clearer reference to our own turbulent life and the fear that many times the things we go through every day cause us to be.

"Where there is love there is no fear, on the contrary, perfect love casts out fear." (1 John 4:18) Many times we forget this simple sentence of John's letter to abandon us to a sea of insecurities before everything that happens to us in life.

We forget that God loves us with Father's love and even sent his son to give his life for us.

The root of many of these fears are the mundane ideas that attribute more value to what each one accomplishes than to the character or integrity of what one is in Christ. Contrary to this philosophy of the world, the Holy Spirit seeks to strengthen our faith and make us aware of the amazing and perfect love of God. In the Lord we are safe and we have nothing to fear. The Father has given us his Son Jesus for our eternal salvation (1 John 4, 14), and he remains in our being through the Holy Spirit, communicating confidence, joy and strength in the face of the struggles of daily life. The Lord wants to equip us with different spiritual gifts so that we are willing to carry out with joy the mission that he wants to give us.

When fear assails us, let us remember that God is eternal and perfect and that his plan will be fulfilled and will grant us peace, that peace that is not like the fleeting tranquility that the world gives by dint of getting power, riches and extraordinary works. God is worthy of our faith and his designs are magnificent. Let the refreshing rain of your love fall with generosity on your physical and spiritual needs and learn to surrender your heart to the grace of the Lord.

"Everlasting Father, I place all my fears in your holy hands. Fill me with your love, Lord, to heal from my wounds and put all my trust in you. "Amen

Haciendo milagros con Jesus

Mc 6, 34-44

En aquel tiempo, al desembarcar Jesús, vio una numerosa multitud que lo estaba esperando, y se compadeció de ellos, porque andaban como ovejas sin pastor, y se puso a enseñarles muchas cosas.

Cuando ya atardecía, se acercaron sus discípulos y le dijeron: "Estamos en despoblado y ya es muy tarde. Despide a la gente para que vayan por los caseríos y poblados del contorno y compren algo de comer". Él les replicó: "Denles ustedes de comer". Ellos le dijeron: "¿Acaso vamos a ir a comprar doscientos denarios de pan para darles de comer?" Él les preguntó: "¿Cuántos panes tienen? Vayan a ver". Cuando lo averiguaron, le dijeron: "Cinco panes y dos pescados".

Entonces ordenó Jesús que la gente se sentara en grupos sobre la hierba verde y se acomodaron en grupos de cien y de cincuenta. Tomando los cinco panes y los dos pescados, Jesús alzó los ojos al cielo, bendijo a Dios, partió los panes y se los dio a los discípulos para que los distribuyeran; lo mismo hizo con los dos pescados.

Comieron todos hasta saciarse, y con las sobras de pan y de pescado que recogieron llenaron doce canastos. Los que comieron fueron cinco mil hombres.

GospelMK 6:34-44

When Jesus saw the vast crowd, his heart was moved with pity for them,
for they were like sheep without a shepherd;
and he began to teach them many things. 
By now it was already late and his disciples approached him and said,
"This is a deserted place and it is already very late. 
Dismiss them so that they can go 
to the surrounding farms and villages
and buy themselves something to eat." 
He said to them in reply,
"Give them some food yourselves." 
But they said to him,
"Are we to buy two hundred days' wages worth of food
and give it to them to eat?" 
He asked them, "How many loaves do you have?  Go and see." 
And when they had found out they said,
"Five loaves and two fish." 
So he gave orders to have them sit down in groups on the green grass. 
The people took their places in rows by hundreds and by fifties. 
Then, taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, 
he said the blessing, broke the loaves, and gave them to his disciples
to set before the people;
he also divided the two fish among them all. 
They all ate and were satisfied. 
And they picked up twelve wicker baskets full of fragments
and what was left of the fish. 
Those who ate of the loaves were five thousand men.

Meditacion:

Me encanta este pasaje del evangelio porque es de una enseñanza muy profunda.

Miren en estos versiculos Jesus nos enseña a todos como actuar con los demas.

Sigue el discurso del amor que escuchábamos ayer. Se ve que cuesta entrar en esa dinámica, y hay que dar martillazo tras martillazo para remachar el mensaje. Y seguimos en la dinámica de “decir + hacer”. Si se habla de amor cristiano, se debe traducir en obras. “Dadles vosotros de comer”. Seguramente los Discípulos pusieron cara de “pero qué nos estás contando, Maestro”. Es posible que ellos también tuvieran lástima de la gente, como Jesús. Pero les faltó la segunda parte, el poner medidas, actuar, obrar, moverse. Es necesaria la intervención de Jesús, para que todo se arregle. Comieron hasta saciarse, y sobraron doce cestos. Con Dios hay de todo, para todos.

Nosotros solemos ser, por lo general, empáticos. Nos entristece el sufrimiento ajeno, sobre todo el de los niños y ancianos. Vemos la tele, oímos la radio y las catástrofes naturales nos ayudan a abrir el monedero y hacer algún donativo. Se trata de seguir en esa línea. Y no nos olvidemos de los que sufren cerca de nuestra casa. Que sepamos salir hacia los que nos necesitan.

No seamos cristianos que solo vamos a misa y cumplimos por cumplir pongamos el corazon en eso!! Miremos a los ojos cuando damos un donativo a una persona que vive en la calle, seamos agradecidos de lo que Dios nos da para administrar, abramos nuestro corazon sin temores al que sufre.

Esa es la enseñanza de este hermoso pasaje de hoy.

No nos olvidemos que Jesús mismo pudo haber dado de comer directamente a la multitud, pero más bien invitó a sus discípulos a que participaran en su labor misionera.

Invitemos a otros a venir a nuestras practicas religiosas con nosotros y a hacer obras de bien.

Pídele al Señor que actúe por tu intermedio, y deja que su vida y su amor crezcan en ti para que llegues a ser un instrumento del Reino de Dios para todos tus conocidos y amigos.

“Jesús, Señor mío, concédeme tu gracia, te lo ruego, para dar un buen testimonio y llevar a mis familiares y amigos a tu presencia.” Amen

I love this gospel passage because it is a very profound teaching.

Look at these verses Jesus teaches us all how to act with others.

Follow the love speech we heard yesterday. You can see that it is difficult to enter into this dynamic, and you have to hammer after hammering to clinch the message. And we continue in the dynamic of "say + do". If we talk about Christian love, it must be translated into works. "Give them to eat." Surely the Disciples put on the face of "but what are you telling us, Master". It is possible that they too had pity on people, like Jesus. That is the teaching of this beautiful passage today.

Let us not forget that Jesus himself could have fed the crowd directly, but rather invited his disciples to participate in his missionary work.

We invite others to come to our religious practices with us and to do good deeds.

Ask the Lord to act through you, and let your life and love grow in you so that you may become an instrument of the Kingdom of God for all your acquaintances and friends.

"Jesus, my Lord, grant me your grace, I beg you, to give a good testimony and take my family and friends to your presence." Amen

Curar, profetizar y enseñar

Mt 4, 12-17. 23-25

Al enterarse Jesús de que Juan había sido arrestado, se retiró a Galilea, y dejando el pueblo de Nazaret, se fue a vivir a Cafarnaúm, junto al lago, en territorio de Zabulón y Neftalí, para que así se cumpliera lo que había anunciado el profeta Isaías:

Tierra de Zabulón y Neftalí, camino del mar, al otro lado del Jordán, Galilea de los paganos; el pueblo que caminaba en tinieblas vio una gran luz. Sobre los que vivían en tierra de sombras una luz resplandeció.

Desde entonces comenzó Jesús a predicar, diciendo: "Conviértanse, porque ya está cerca el Reino de los cielos". Y andaba por toda Galilea, enseñando en las sinagogas y proclamando la buena nueva del Reino de Dios y curando a la gente de toda enfermedad y dolencia.

Su fama se extendió por toda Siria y le llevaban a todos los aquejados por diversas enfermedades y dolencias, a los poseídos, epilépticos y paralíticos, y él los curaba. Lo seguían grandes muchedumbres venidas de Galilea, Decápolis, Jerusalén, Judea y Transjordania.

GospelMT 4:12-17, 23-25

When Jesus heard that John had been arrested,
he withdrew to Galilee. 
He left Nazareth and went to live in Capernaum by the sea,
in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali,
that what had been said through Isaiah the prophet 
might be fulfilled:

Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali,
the way to the sea, beyond the Jordan,
Galilee of the Gentiles,
the people who sit in darkness
have seen a great light,
on those dwelling in a land overshadowed by death
light has arisen.

From that time on, Jesus began to preach and say,
"Repent, for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand."

He went around all of Galilee,
teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom,
and curing every disease and illness among the people. 
His fame spread to all of Syria,
and they brought to him all who were sick with various diseases
and racked with pain,
those who were possessed, lunatics, and paralytics,
and he cured them. 
And great crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, and Judea,
and from beyond the Jordan followed him.

Meditacion:

Venimos de celebrar ayer la epifania de nuestro Señor Jesucristo y vamos hacia su bautismo que celebraremos el proximo domingo.  Para los mas curiosos, veran que despues del domingo que viene, cambiamos de color liturgico del blanco o dorado que usamos en nuestras casullas para celebrar se volvera al mas comun verde porque se aproxima el primer "tiempo ordinario" que antecede a los preparativos de cuaresma.

Y hoy vemos a un Jesus que enseña y cura. Los apostolados de Jesus son tres: enseñanza, curacion y predicacion y vistos a la distancia nos parecen lejanos... se seguiran viviendo en esta sociedad tan tecnificada y turbulenta? Sin duda que si.

No se puede dudar de la presencia de Jesus en la sociedad de cada dia, por mas que a veces elijamos ver para otro lado o hacer como que no lo vemos y no actuar como lo que somos: hijos de Dios,  co-herederos del Reino de los Cielos como dice Romanos 8:17.

Y por el bautismo somos "sacerdotes, profetas y Reyes" de la creacion... actuamos como tales?

Cuantas veces nos olvidamos de nuestra funcion sacerdotal y no oramos mas que por nuestras propias cosas! Si todos nos acordaramos de orar por los demas, si todos profetizaramos la Palabra cada dia, sin duda que este mundo seria mas integro y mucho mas justo.

Pero nos dedicamos a esconder esa lampara de amor y justicia que cada uno tiene en su corazon porque no nos conviene o no queremos o por pereza... las razones son infinitas!

Y sin embargo si leemos la biblia, vemos que Dios siempre empleo a personas comunes como nosotros para sus designios. 

Entonces les dejo hoy esta inquietud.. y si comenzamos a orar mas por los demas y por nosotros mismos? Y si comenzamos a hablar mas del evangelio por mas que nos miren como bichos raros? Y si comenzamos a vivir el evangelio para tambien nosotros poder rememorar el domingo que viene nuestro bautismo?

“Amado Jesús, te doy gracias por el amor generoso que nos das y por la salud total que tendremos cuando vivamos contigo en el cielo. Concédenos valor para actuar por fe y ser instrumentos de tu amor sanador.” Amen

And today we see a Jesus who teaches and heals. The apostolates of Jesus are three: teaching, healing and preaching and seen from a distance seem far away ... will they continue to live in this society so technified and turbulent? Without a doubt, yes.

One can not doubt the presence of Jesus in the society of each day, even though we sometimes choose to look the other way or act as if we do not see him and not act as what we are: children of God, co-heirs of the Kingdom of the Heavens as Romans 8:17 says.

And by baptism we are "priests, prophets and kings" of creation ... do we act as such?

How often do we forget our priestly function and pray only for our own things! If we all agreed to pray for each other, if we all prophesied the Word every day, without doubt that this world would be more integral and much more just.

But we are dedicated to hiding that lamp of love and justice that each one has in his heart because it does not suit us or we do not want to or because of laziness ... the reasons are endless!

And yet if we read the Bible, we see that God always employs ordinary people like us for his designs.

So today I leave this concern ... and if we begin to pray more for others and for ourselves? And if we start talking about the gospel no matter how much they look at us as weirdos? And if we begin to live the gospel so we can remember the coming Sunday of our baptism?

"Beloved Jesus, I thank you for the generous love you give us and for the total health we will have when we live with you in heaven. Grant us courage to act by faith and be instruments of your healing love. "Amen

Natanael bajo la higuera

Lectura del santo evangelio según san Juan (1,43-51):

En aquel tiempo, determinó Jesús salir para Galilea; encuentra a Felipe y le dice: «Sígueme.»

Hermanos meditemos un dia antes de la epifania de Nuestro Señor sobre este pasaje del evangelio.

Me gusta mucho la imagen de Natael bajo la higuera.

Era tradicional en Israel que los fieles se sentaran a la sombra de una higuera para orar y meditar en la Palabra de Dios. En tan apacible reposo, Natanael buscaba a Dios, orando y leyendo las Escrituras y reflexionando en su propia vida, con los ojos espirituales abiertos, y pudo ver que Jesús era el Hijo de Dios.

Que bueno seria que todos tuvieramos ese espacio cada dia para reflexionar sobre la palabra de Dios; Jesus dice de Natanael " “Aquí viene un verdadero israelita, en quien no hay engaño.” Natanael trataba honestamente de tener una buena relación con Dios y en su búsqueda de la verdad, era sincero, sin hipocresía ni actitudes engañosas.

Y es por eso que cuando ve a Jesus, su integridad y busqueda de Dios hace que lo reconozca inmediatamente. El alma siempre reconoce naturalmente lo bueno, lo bello, lo infinito y lo alegre porque son atributos de Dios.

Del mismo modo, nosotros también podemos llegar a conocer más profundamente a nuestro Señor y Salvador si elevamos la mente al cielo y nos dedicamos de corazón a hacer a oración y estudiar su Palabra, queriendo sinceramente librarnos del pecado. De tal forma, la perspectiva de Dios va reemplazando el escepticismo propio de la naturaleza humana no renovada. De esta manera el Señor podrá actuar en nuestra conciencia y llegaremos a reconocer que, unidos con Jesús, estamos en la presencia de Dios.

“Espíritu Santo, Señor, ayúdame a librarme de la hipocresía y la falsedad en mi vida; crea en mí un espíritu limpio, para que pueda conocerte y seguirte con todo mi ser.” Amen

How nice it would be that we all have that space every day to reflect on the word of God; Jesus says of Nathanael "" Here comes a true Israelite, in whom there is no deceit. "Nathanael honestly tried to have a good relationship with God and in his search for the truth, he was sincere, without hypocrisy or deceptive attitudes.

And that is why when he sees Jesus, his integrity and search for God makes him recognize him immediately. The soul always recognizes naturally the good, the beautiful, the infinite and the joyful because they are attributes of God.

In the same way, we can also get to know more deeply our Lord and Savior if we raise our minds to heaven and devote our heart to do prayer and study His Word, sincerely seeking to be freed from sin. Jn 1, 35-42

En aquel tiempo, estaba Juan el Bautista con dos de sus discípulos, y fijando los ojos en Jesús, que pasaba, dijo: "Éste es el Cordero de Dios". Los dos discípulos, al oír estas palabras, siguieron a Jesús. Él se volvió hacia ellos, y viendo que lo seguían, les preguntó: "¿Qué buscan?" Ellos le contestaron: "¿Dónde vives, Rabí?" John was standing with two of his disciples,

Hoy leemos de "La Palabra entre nosotros"

San Juan Bautista dijo que Jesucristo era el Cordero de Dios que quita el pecado del mundo. Luego, repitió este testimonio a dos de sus discípulos y así puso en movimiento una sorprendente reacción en cadena. Primero, Andrés y otro discípulo fueron a conocer a esta persona de quien les hablaba Juan, y tras apenas un día de conversar con él, escuchar sus enseñanzas y ver sus actitudes, se convencieron de que éste era en efecto el Mesías tan esperado de Israel.

Andrés quedó tan impresionado con Jesús que fue a contarle a su hermano Simón, y éste, al encontrarse cara a cara con Cristo, empezó una nueva vida como Pedro, la Roca. A su vez, Felipe le llevó el testimonio a Natanael, que no demoró en declarar que Jesús era “el Hijo de Dios” y “el Rey de Israel” (Juan 1, 49).

¡Qué magnífica serie de eventos! El testimonio de un amigo, unos corazones bien dispuestos, un encuentro personal con Jesús… así fueron los humildes comienzos de la cristiandad, que hoy, según algunos, tiene unos 2.100 millones de fieles en todo el mundo. Todo comenzó con Jesús, que llamó a unos sencillos pescadores y los formó como discípulos durante tres años para que fueran sus apóstoles y prosiguieran en el futuro su misión de salvar al mundo.

Nosotros también llegamos a conocer a Cristo cuando pasamos tiempo en su presencia, escuchamos su Palabra, la ponemos por obra y obedecemos sus mandamientos. Luego podemos llevar el testimonio a nuestros familiares, amigos y conocidos. Pero, si queremos hacerlo en forma auténtica y eficaz, hemos de hablar con nuestro Señor y Redentor continuamente en la oración, iluminar el intelecto y la conciencia estudiando su Palabra y la doctrina de la Iglesia, y disfrutar de su presencia en la adoración frente al Santísimo Sacramento y recibir los sacramentos.

Ahora que estamos comenzando el año nuevo, dediquémonos a profundizar nuestra experiencia con el Señor y abrir el corazón a su amor mediante prácticas útiles, como dedicar diez minutos o más al día a la oración personal; hacerse un sincero examen de conciencia, arrepentirse de los pecados cometidos y confesarlos, leer la Sagrada Escritura y participar en la vida sacramental y comunitaria de la Iglesia.

“Jesús, Señor mío, quiero conocerte más, para que mi vida sea un testimonio verdadero de que tú eres el Hijo de Dios, el Rey y el Mesías.” Amen
