Tres afirmaciones

Jn 21, 15-19

En aquel tiempo, le preguntó Jesús a Simón Pedro: "Simón, hijo de Juan, ¿me amas más que éstos?" Él le contestó: "Sí, Señor, tú sabes que te quiero". Jesús le dijo: "Apacienta mis corderos".

Por segunda vez le preguntó: "Simón, hijo de Juan, ¿me amas?" Él le respondió: "Sí, Señor, tú sabes que te quiero". Jesús le dijo: "Pastorea mis ovejas".

Por tercera vez le preguntó: "Simón, hijo de Juan, ¿me quieres?" Pedro se entristeció de que Jesús le hubiera preguntado por tercera vez si lo quería, y le contestó: "Señor, tú lo sabes todo; tú bien sabes que te quiero". Jesús le dijo: "Apacienta mis ovejas.

Yo te aseguro: cuando eras joven, tú mismo te ceñías la ropa e ibas a donde querías; pero cuando seas viejo, extenderás los brazos y otro te ceñirá y te llevará a donde no quieras". Esto se lo dijo para indicarle con qué género de muerte habría de glorificar a Dios. Después le dijo: "Sígueme''.

Meditacion:

Es diferente leer este hermoso evangelio con un pie en el avion para ir a Dallas donde mañana asistire a una ordenacion sacerdotal.

Hace falta mucho amor por nuestros hermanos para decidirse en este tiempo a ordenarse sacerdote; y mas en el caso de Brett, nuestro neo sacerdote, que apenas tiene 25 años.

De amor habla también el Evangelio. A Pedro no le valen los años de servicio a la empresa. No es un “ascenso” automático, por el simple hecho de haber estado desde el principio con Jesús. No le cuentan las muchas homilías escuchadas, las noches al raso, el frío y el calor pasado con el Maestro. Todo eso está muy bien. Seguro que le fue “ablandando” el corazón, para entender lo que de verdad era importante.

Y porque amó mucho, a Pedro se le perdona mucho. La traición queda atrás, Pedro puede volver a mirar a Cristo a los ojos, y recibir de manos del Salvador las llaves de la Iglesia. La barca de Cristo queda en buenas manos, manos firmes, curtidas por el trabajo en el mar, y ablandadas por el contacto con Jesús. Y se prepara para ser el primero de los seguidores, el pastor que va delante de las ovejas, en el lugar del Buen Pastor, que subió a los Cielos.

Cada día, todos enfrentamos el mismo desafío que Jesús le planteó al apóstol a orillas del Mar de Galilea. El amor que Jesús le pedía —y que nos pide a todos— no es esforzarse por sentir una emoción determinada, sino por realizar un acto de la voluntad. Este amor es generoso, solidario, desinteresado, más atento a las necesidades de los demás y lleno de confianza y esperanza. Así es como Jesús ama a sus fieles.

Es cierto que el amor se expresa con obras, pero obras que se hagan, no para sentirse uno satisfecho, sino para beneficiar al prójimo, sobre todo en casa, y especialmente en situaciones de dolor, necesidad o desorientación.

Si tú reconoces que no estás dando este fruto de amor en tu vida, no te preocupes; no te sientas inepto para aceptar la gran llamada a compartir el amor y el mensaje de Cristo. Vuelve a Jesús y pídele que te llene más. Tal vez tengas necesidad de un mayor arrepentimiento o renovación de tu compromiso de orar y recibir los sacramentos, pero siempre puedes creer que cuando te presentes humildemente ante el Señor y le confíes tus necesidades, él te bendecirá con abundancia.

Jesús nos pregunta hoy “¿Me amas más que éstos?”, pero también nos promete “Si me dejas actuar en ti, te llenaré de mi amor y este amor será como un poderoso oleaje que te llevará a ser mi testigo en el mundo.” Hermano, ¿amas realmente a Cristo? Si no estás seguro, pídele a él que te muestre cómo lo puedes conocer y amar mejor.

Caminemos todos juntos

Jn 17, 20-26

Meditacion:

Como esenio el evangelio de hoy me llega especialmente.

 "Padre, no sólo te pido por mis discípulos, sino también por los que van a creer en mí por la palabra de ellos, para que todos sean uno, como tú, Padre, en mí y yo en ti somos uno, a fin de que sean uno en nosotros y el mundo crea que tú me has enviado"

Gran parte de mi trabajo es, justamente, la unidad de todas las denominaciones.

Hoy me levanto y leo que el Papa Francisco declaro que "No vamos a esperar por los teologos" a la hora de buscar la unidad con otras denominaciones sino que "todos deberiamos caminar bajo la unidad de la cruz de Cristo".

Esto me puso muy contento porque apunta  a la realidad de hoy dia, debemos caminar con nuestros hermanos, sean catolicos, luteranos, episcopales, metodistas, baptistas, musulmanes, evangelicos o cualquier otra denominacion, no para discutir teologia sino para unirnos como hermanos y caminar juntos.

Yo se que "bajar" ese discurso, esa linea, especialmente en ciertos sectores de la Iglesia Catolica Romana va a llevar tiempo pero debemos hacerlo porque, la verdad, todos vivimos en el mismo planeta y todos podemos enriquecernos de todos.

Comencemos conociendo al que se sienta al lado en la Iglesia, saludemos despues de la celebracion, no salgamos corriendo; visitemos otras denominaciones... seremos recibidos con respeto y alegria, procuremos conocer personas de otras denominaciones y charlar sobre nuestras diferencias y similitudes.

En suma, caminemos de la mano, caminemos hacia Cristo, lleguemos a la puerta del cielo todos juntos...

“Padre eterno, quiero ser uno contigo, mis hermanos y con Jesús, mi Señor. Te ofrezco mi vida y te ruego que hagas de mi vida un testimonio vivo de tu amor para todo mundo.” Amen

Let's start knowing whoever sits next to the Church, let's say goodbye after the celebration, let's not run away; let's visit other denominations ... we will be received with respect and joy, let's try to meet people from other denominations and talk about our differences and similarities.

Santificanos en la verdad

Jn 17, 11-19

En aquel tiempo, Jesús levantó los ojos al cielo y dijo: "Padre santo, cuida en tu nombre a los que me has dado, para que sean uno, como nosotros. Cuando estaba con ellos, yo cuidaba en tu nombre a los que me diste; yo velaba por ellos y ninguno de ellos se perdió, excepto el que tenía que perderse, para que se cumpliera la Escritura.

Pero ahora voy a ti, y mientras estoy aún en el mundo, digo estas cosas para que mi gozo llegue a su plenitud en ellos. El Evangelio de hoy nos continua presentando la oración sacerdotal. Jesús intercede por nosotros: quiere la unidad de las comunidades para que puedan resistir a los problemas que dividen y a las persecuciones. Una unidad al estilo de la Trinidad: “como nosotros”, donde la diversidad es acogida, respetada y alentada. Una comunidad cuyo centro es Jesús y su alegría una nota distintiva (aún en medio de los desafíos, problemas y calumnias). Una Iglesia enviada y consagrada a la Verdad, no cualquier verdad, sino la verdad de su Palabra; es decir, decididos a testimoniar nuestras convicciones y experiencias a respecto de Dios en una sociedad que no deja espacio para Dios, que disminuye a quien tiene fe. Jesús, en su oración, no pide al Padre que vivamos sin dificultades y problemas; lo que Él pide es que seamos guardados del mal.

En nuestro mundo hay muchos, muchos lobos, que nos acechan por todas partes. Es muy fácil relajarse, dejarse llevar, empezar a dejar las cosas que nos ayudan y caer en las garras de lo que el mundo considera normal. Y dejo de ir a Misa el domingo, porque estoy cansado. Y dejo de rezar, porque no tengo tiempo. Y dejo de frecuentar el sacramento de la Penitencia, porque no cambia nada, o porque me da vergüenza…

Y los lobos del mundo nos rodean, y nos dejamos llevar. Y se me olvida que Dios me ama, y se preocupa por mí, y no descansará (y no descansaré) hasta que vuelva. Y ahí entramos los demás, los hermanos, lo amigos, los familiares, los conocidos. Llamando a los que hace mucho que no vienen, preguntando al sacerdote por ese parroquiano que no vemos desde hace tiempo, intentando ayudar si hace falta…

Porque le perteneces a Dios. Declara esta verdad hoy en voz alta, y aprovecha todas las oportunidades que tu Dueño te presente para practicar tu vida nueva. ¡Recuerda que le perteneces a Jesús!

“Gracias, Señor, por rescatarme de este mundo pecador. Enséñame a vivir desde hoy como ciudadano de cielo.” Amen

Jn 17, 1-11

Meditacion:

Antes de su pasión y muerte, el Señor elevó una plegaria final a su Padre, que leemos en el capítulo 17 del Evangelio de San Juan. En ella, intercedió por todos los creyentes, tanto los de esa época como los del futuro. 

Se despide el Maestro, en el evangelio y se despide el discípulo en la primera lectura. Pablo muestra su confianza en el futuro, a pesar de que sabe que no será fácil. No sé lo que me espera allí, sólo sé que el Espíritu Santo, de ciudad en ciudad, me asegura que me aguardan cárceles y luchas. Parece que la vida del apóstol del primer siglo y la de la Iglesia del siglo XXI no han cambiado tanto.

La mayoría de nosotros vivimos en países donde hay libertad religiosa, pero no todos pueden decir lo mismo. Hay muchos cristianos perseguidos. Y muchos han sido testigos de su fe, hasta la muerte. Por no callarse nada. Por anunciar enteramente el plan de salvación de Dios para el mundo. Un proyecto de amor, de justicia, de solidaridad… Esas cosas que no a todos les vienen bien, con las que algunos no están de acuerdo. Pero que es lo que de verdad importa.

¿Qué es lo que de verdad nos importa? ¿Qué es lo que de verdad me importa? Porque, para ser testigo, hasta el final, hay que poder ser capaz de perder la vida por el Reino. Y eso no se improvisa. Cristo rogó al padre por ellos, porque eran de los suyos. Y todos supieron que lo verdaderamente importante es el seguimiento de Cristo. Antes que conservar la vida. A mí eso me cuestiona. Reviso mi vida, y veo lo mucho que tengo que mejorar. Y me entra algo de preocupacion.

El salmo de hoy nos ayuda a rezar en los momentos difíciles. Bendito el Señor cada día, Dios lleva nuestras cargas, es nuestra salvación. Nuestro Dios es un Dios que salva, el Señor Dios nos hace escapar de la muerte. Repítelo muchas veces, si te sientes cansado, agobiado, preocupado. Que es una buena ayuda. Para dejar de sentirte agobiado.

Hermano, pídele a Jesucristo que sea tu Señor y Salvador y así te salvarás tú y tal vez puedas llevar a tus seres queridos al Señor también.

“Gracias, Cristo Jesús, por revelarnos a tu Padre. Sin ti, estaríamos irremediablemente perdidos y privados de toda esperanza. Ayúdanos a dar a conocer al Padre a todas las personas que veamos hoy día.”

Yo he vencido al mundo

Jn 16, 29-33

En aquel tiempo, los discípulos le dijeron a Jesús: "Ahora sí nos estás hablando claro y no en parábolas. Ahora sí estamos convencidos de que lo sabes todo y no necesitas que nadie te pregunte. Por eso creemos que has venido de Dios".

Les contestó Jesús: "¿De veras creen? Pues miren que viene la hora, más aún, ya llegó, en que se van a dispersar cada uno por su lado y me dejarán solo. Sin embargo, no estaré solo, porque el Padre está conmigo. Les he dicho estas cosas, para que tengan paz en mí. En el mundo tendrán tribulaciones; pero tengan valor, porque yo he vencido al mundo".

GospelJN 16:29-33

The disciples said to Jesus,
"Now you are talking plainly, and not in any figure of speech.
Now we realize that you know everything
and that you do not need to have anyone question you.
Because of this, we believe that you came from God."
Jesus answered them, "Do you believe now?
Behold, the hour is coming and has arrived
when each of you will be scattered to his own home
and you will leave me alone.
But I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
I have told you this so that you might have peace in me.
In the world, you will have trouble,
but take courage, I have conquered the world."

Meditacion:

Ya casi acabamos el tiempo pascual; nos queda una ultima semana antes de la fiesta de Pentecostes.

Jesus lleva unos dias despidiendose de sus discipulos; ayer celebramos en muchas denominaciones la fiesta de la ascencion de Nuestro Señor.

Como finalizando un largo discurso de despedida, los discipulos hoy le dicen que finalmente lo comprenden, que finalmente Jesus esta hablando de una forma directa.

Pero Jesus aun les advierte por ultima vez que si nos tomamos en serio el seguir a Cristo, seguro que tendremos problemas Con nosotros mismos, en primer lugar, y con los demás, después. Pablo estuvo tres meses dialogando con algunos, para convencerlos. Seguro que lo hizo con paz, a pesar de todo. Porque Cristo estaba con Él, y Cristo ha vencido al mundo.

En el mundo de hoy, en algunos paises, ser cristiano es condenarse a muerte o a sufrir persecusion; e incluso en nuestros paises, seguir a Jesus a veces nos gana la burla de muchos y el aislamiento de nuestros seres queridos.

Oremos por nuestros hermanos que persiguen a los catolicos o no nos comprenden en nuestra fe por su conversion y salvacion. Amen

We almost finished the Easter season; we have one last week before the Pentecost party.

Jesus has been saying goodbye to his disciples a few days; Yesterday we celebrated in many denominations the feast of the ascension of Our Lord.

As if finishing a long farewell speech, the disciples today tell him that they finally understand him, that finally Jesus is speaking in a direct way.

But Jesus still warns them for the last time that if we take seriously to follow Christ, we will surely have problems with ourselves, in the first place, and with others, afterwards. Pablo spent three months talking with some, to convince them. Surely he did it with peace, despite everything. Because Christ was with Him, and Christ has overcome the world.

In today's world, in some countries, being a Christian is condemning oneself to death or suffering persecution; and even in our countries, following Jesus sometimes wins the mockery of many and the isolation of our loved ones.

Pray for our brothers who persecute the Catholics or do not understand us in our faith for their conversion and salvation. Amen

Pidan en mi nombre

Jn 16, 28

R. Aleluya, aleluya.
Salí del Padre y vine al mundo;
ahora dejo el mundo y vuelvo al Padre, dice el Señor.

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: “Yo les aseguro: cuanto pidan al Padre en mi nombre, se lo concederá. Hasta ahora no han pedido nada en mi nombre. Pidan y recibirán, para que su alegría sea completa.

Les he dicho estas cosas en parábolas; pero se acerca la hora en que ya no les hablaré en parábolas, sino que les hablaré del Padre abiertamente. En aquel día pedirán en mi nombre, y no les digo que rogaré por ustedes al Padre, pues el Padre mismo los ama, porque ustedes me han amado y han creído que salí del Padre. Yo salí del Padre y vine al mundo; ahora dejo el mundo y vuelvo al Padre’’.

GospelJN 16:23B-28

Jesus said to his disciples:
"Amen, amen, I say to you,
whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you.
Until now you have not asked anything in my name;
ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete.

"I have told you this in figures of speech.
The hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figures
but I will tell you clearly about the Father.
On that day you will ask in my name,
and I do not tell you that I will ask the Father for you.
For the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me
and have come to believe that I came from God.
I came from the Father and have come into the world.
Now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father."

Meditacion:

Jesús nos enseña hoy en el evangelio cómo debemos orar para que nuestras palabras alcancen el corazón del Padre del cielo. Es verdad que cuando rezamos, solemos sufrir muchas distracciones, ¡llevamos tantas cosas en la cabeza! Y a veces llegamos a pensar que no vale la pena rezar así, porque nuestra mente no se centra en las palabras que decimos. Pero la verdad es que la oración que hacemos en el nombre de Jesús, siempre llega al corazón del Padre y obtiene su fruto, tal vez no exactamente lo que nosotros querríamos. Pero nadie sale con las manos vacías de la presencia de Dios nuestro Padre.

Jesús quiere además que experimentemos alegría en la oración y nos dice: “pedid, y recibiréis, para que vuestra alegría sea completa”. Es la alegría que brota del corazón que se ha abierto con toda confianza ante la bondad infinita del Señor.  Y aunque a veces la tristeza o la angustia o la enfermedad llene nuestra alma,  estando frente al sol siempre experimentaremos calor, es calorcito íntimo que nos da la seguridad de que alguien nos escucha y está a nuestro lado.

En efecto, si dejamos que la vida divina crezca en nuestro ser, las peticiones que hagamos irán gradualmente adoptando una nueva dimensión. Adoptaremos “el modo de pensar de Cristo” (1 Corintios 2, 16) y le pediremos al Padre con una humildad como la de Jesús; el Espíritu Santo nos hará como niños y nos librará de los deseos egoístas y prepotentes de la naturaleza caída. Con el tiempo, empezaremos a desear lo mismo que el Padre, principalmente que el Reino de Dios se propague en la tierra.

El Señor quiere que confiemos en su sabiduría hasta en las cosas que no consideramos espirituales, como un trabajo distinto o un carro nuevo, porque él se preocupa de todos los aspectos de nuestra vida y quiere concedernos todo buen don que nos ayude a imitarlo mejor. Confiemos, pues, en Dios y aceptemos humildemente la sabiduría que él tiene para cada uno.

“Padre celestial, sé que me conoces y que jamás me abandonarás. Te pido por todas mis necesidades y por las de mis familiares y seres queridos.” Amen

Jesus teaches us today in the gospel how we should pray for our words to reach the heart of the Father in heaven. It is true that when we pray, we tend to suffer many distractions, we have so many things on our heads! And sometimes we come to think that it is not worthwhile to pray like that, because our mind does not focus on the words we say. But the truth is that the prayer we make in the name of Jesus always reaches the heart of the Father and gets its fruit, maybe not exactly what we would like. But nobody comes out empty-handed from the presence of God our Father.

Jesus also wants us to experience joy in prayer and he says: "Ask, and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete". It is the joy that springs from the heart that has opened with all confidence before the infinite goodness of the Lord. And although sometimes sadness or anguish or illness fill our soul, being in front of the sun we will always experience heat, it is an intimate heat that gives us the certainty that someone is listening to us and is at our side.

Indeed, if we let the divine life grow in our being, the requests we make will gradually take on a new dimension. We will adopt "the way of thinking of Christ" (1 Corinthians 2:16) and we will ask the Father with a humility like Jesus'; the Holy Spirit will make us like children and free us from the selfish and arrogant desires of fallen nature. With time, we will begin to desire the same as the Father, mainly that the Kingdom of God will spread on earth.

The Lord wants us to trust in his wisdom even in things we do not consider spiritual, such as a different job or a new car, because he cares about all aspects of our life and wants to give us all good gifts that help us imitate him better. Let us trust, then, in God and humbly accept the wisdom that he has for each one.

"Heavenly Father, I know you know me and you will never leave me. I ask you for all my needs and those of my relatives and loved ones. "Amen
