Maria & Isabel

Lc 1, 39-45

En aquellos días, María se encaminó presurosa a un pueblo de las montañas de Judea y, entrando en la casa de Zacarías, saludó a Isabel. En cuanto ésta oyó el saludo de María, la creatura saltó en su seno.

Entonces Isabel quedó llena del Espíritu Santo y, levantando la voz, exclamó: "¡Bendita tú entre las mujeres y bendito el fruto de tu vientre! ¿Quién soy yo, para que la madre de mi Señor venga a verme? Apenas llegó tu saludo a mis oídos, el niño saltó de gozo en mi seno. Dichosa tú, que has creído, porque se cumplirá cuanto te fue anunciado de parte del Señor".

GospelLK 1:39-45

Mary set out in those days
and traveled to the hill country in haste
to a town of Judah,
where she entered the house of Zechariah
and greeted Elizabeth. 
When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting,
the infant leaped in her womb,
and Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit,
cried out in a loud voice and said,
"Most blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb. 
And how does this happen to me,
that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 
For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears,
the infant in my womb leaped for joy. 
Blessed are you who believed
that what was spoken to you by the Lord
would be fulfilled."

Meditacion:

Contemplando el evangelio de hoy encontramos esta imagen hermosa: el encuentro de dos mujeres que han sido profundamente tocadas por el amor de Dios; no sucede en Jerusalen, centro del poder para ese momento; como todo lo que viene de Dios sucede en la humildad de un pequeño pueblo, alejada de todo lo importante.

En el relato de la visitacion termina de cumplirse lo que el angel habia dicho a Maria  «también tu pariente Isabel ha concebido un hijo en su vejez, y ya está de seis meses la que llamaban estéril, “porque para Dios nada hay imposible”». Por otra parte, las palabras de bendición que el Espíritu suscita en Isabel, confirman la especial complacencia de parte de Dios a María. La salvación que ella porta en el secreto de su propia maternidad es el fruto de su fe en la Palabra del Señor: «Bienaventurada la que ha creído, porque lo que le ha dicho el Señor se cumplirá»

Hay en este encuentro solo agradecimiento y alegria por la palabra cumplida. Hoy, a 3 dias de la Navidad seria bueno que nosotros paremos nuestro trabajo y agradezcamos por los favores recibidos durante este año.

La celebración de la Navidad debería ser un encuentro agradecido con el Dios que nos salva. En un mundo que se mueve en la lógica de comprar y vender, dentro una estructura donde lo que reina es el capital no cabe el espacio para el agradecimiento. Del evangelio de hoy podemos aprender que nuestra vida se transforma cuando sabemos vivir desde la gratuidad. Solo en un corazón abierto a la sorpresa y a la acción de gracias es capaz de ver y escuchar la voz de Dios que nos susurra al oído que su promesa de amor se ha cumplido.  

“Señor mío Jesucristo, mientras espero la Navidad, concédeme la gracia de abrir el corazón y recibirte con amor.” Amen

Contemplating the gospel of today we find this beautiful image: the meeting of two women who have been deeply touched by the love of God; it does not happen in Jerusalem, the center of power for that moment; as everything that comes from God happens in the humility of a small town, away from everything important.

In the story of the visit, what the angel said to Mary is finished "also your relative Isabel has conceived a son in her old age, and already six months ago they called sterile," because for God nothing is impossible "» . On the other hand, the words of blessing that the Spirit arouses in Elizabeth confirm the special satisfaction of God to Mary. The salvation that she carries in the secret of her own motherhood is the fruit of her faith in the Word of the Lord: "Blessed is she who has believed, because what the Lord has said will come true"

The celebration of Christmas should be a grateful encounter with the God who saves us. In a world that moves in the logic of buying and selling, within a structure where what reigns is capital there is no space for gratitude. From the Gospel of today we can learn that our life is transformed when we know how to live from gratuitousness. Only in a heart open to surprise and thanksgiving is he able to see and hear the voice of God whispering in his ear that his promise of love has been fulfilled.

"My Lord Jesus Christ, as I wait for Christmas, grant me the grace to open my heart and receive you with love." Amen

La anunciacion

Lc 1, 26-38

En aquel tiempo, el ángel Gabriel fue enviado por Dios a una ciudad de Galilea, llamada Nazaret, a una virgen desposada con un varón de la estirpe de David, llamado José. La virgen se llamaba María.

Entró el ángel a donde ella estaba y le dijo: "Alégrate, llena de gracia, el Señor está contigo". Al oír estas palabras, ella se preocupó mucho y se preguntaba qué querría decir semejante saludo.

El ángel le dijo: "No temas, María, porque has hallado gracia ante Dios. Vas a concebir y a dar a luz un hijo y le pondrás por nombre Jesús. Él será grande y será llamado Hijo del Altísimo; el Señor Dios le dará el trono de David, su padre, y él reinará sobre la casa de Jacob por los siglos y su reinado no tendrá fin".

María le dijo entonces al ángel: "¿Cómo podrá ser esto, puesto que yo permanezco virgen?" El ángel le contestó: "El Espíritu Santo descenderá sobre ti y el poder del Altísimo te cubrirá con su sombra. Por eso, el Santo, que va a nacer de ti, será llamado Hijo de Dios. Ahí tienes a tu parienta Isabel, que a pesar de su vejez, ha concebido un hijo y ya va en el sexto mes la que llamaban estéril, porque no hay nada imposible para Dios". María contestó: "Yo soy la esclava del Señor; cúmplase en mí lo que me has dicho". Y el ángel se retiró de su presencia.

In the sixth month,
the angel Gabriel was sent from God
to a town of Galilee called Nazareth,
to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph,

But she was greatly troubled at what was said

since I have no relations with a man?"

"The Holy Spirit will come upon you,
and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.
Therefore the child to be born
will be called holy, the Son of God.
And behold, Elizabeth, your relative,
has also conceived a son in her old age,
and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren;
for nothing will be impossible for God."

Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord.
May it be done to me according to your word."
Then the angel departed from her.

Meditacion:

Leemos de "La Palabra entre nosotros":

Hermano, imagínate que eres niño y que en la mañana de Navidad estás abriendo los regalos cuando ves un gran paquete con tu nombre. Lo abres, entusiasmado, y ves que es un avioncito para armar, pero no vienen las instrucciones. Asombrado, le preguntas a tus padres: “¿Cómo voy a armarlo sin instrucciones?” Tus padres te ayudan hasta que el avión queda armado correctamente.

La respuesta inicial de María al ángel, que hoy escuchamos, es parecida a esta primera reacción del niño al ver su regalo. La Madre de Dios no tiene pecado, pero sin duda reacciona de manera humana, por lo que hace la pregunta. Después de escuchar la explicación del ángel, María está lista para dar el primer paso de obediencia, aun cuando todavía no entiende plenamente el designio de Dios ni las consecuencias que tendrá en su vida.

No hay duda de que el llamamiento de María fue único y sin igual, y ninguno de nosotros puede tratar de equiparar su vida con la de ella; pero sí podemos sacar una lección importante: Los grandes planes de Dios para nosotros no siempre vienen con instrucciones detalladas. De hecho, ¡a veces parecen más bien problemas que bendiciones! Pero el Señor te revelará poco a poco lo que él quiere para ti, como lo hizo con María, y lo seguirá haciendo conforme tú vayas dando un paso de fe, luego otro y otro. María descubrió algo más de su vocación cuando visitó a su prima Isabel, cuando ésta la saludó llamándola “la madre de mi Señor” (Lucas 1, 43).

Dice S.S. el Papa Francisco que “el Espíritu Santo no siempre viene con un paquete completo de certidumbre”, pero si le pedimos al Espíritu que nos guíe paso a paso, él lo hará y nos dará “la certeza en ese momento, la respuesta para ese momento” (Homilía, 30 de abril de 2018).

Así que no tengas miedo de preguntarle al Espíritu Santo algo sobre tu vida o tu futuro. Tal vez no te dará una descripción completa, pero te impartirá la sabiduría necesaria para saber qué hacer hoy, la fuerza para llevarlo a cabo y la confianza de que mañana todo va a salir bien. Así verás cuál es tu mejor regalo de Navidad, pero ese proceso suele ocurrir un día a la vez.

“Amado Jesús, confío en que tú actúes en mí hoy día y que mi futuro esté protegido en tus santas manos.” Amen

We read of "The Word among us":

Brother, imagine that you are a child and that on Christmas morning you are opening gifts when you see a big package with your name. You open it, excited, and you see it's a little plane to put together, but the instructions do not come. Astonished, you ask your parents: "How am I going to put it together without instructions?" Your parents help you until the plane is properly armed.

The initial response of Mary to the angel, which we hear today, is similar to this first reaction of the child to see his gift. The Mother of God has no sin, but she certainly reacts in a human way, so she asks the question. After listening to the angel's explanation, Mary is ready to take the first step of obedience, even though she still does not fully understand God's plan or the consequences it will have on her life.

There is no doubt that Mary's call was unique and without equal, and none of us can try to equate her life with hers; but we can draw an important lesson: God's great plans for us do not always come with detailed instructions. In fact, sometimes they seem more like problems than blessings! But the Lord will reveal to you little by little what he wants for you, as he did with Mary, and he will continue to do so as you go one step of faith, then another and another. Mary discovered something more of her vocation when she visited her cousin Elizabeth, when she greeted her by calling her "the mother of my Lord" (Luke 1:43).

S. S. says Pope Francis that "the Holy Spirit does not always come with a complete package of certainty", but if we ask the Spirit to guide us step by step, he will do it and give us "the certainty at that moment, the answer for that moment "(Homily, April 30, 2018).

So do not be afraid to ask the Holy Spirit about your life or your future. Maybe it will not give you a complete description, but it will impart the necessary wisdom to know what to do today, the strength to carry it out and the confidence that tomorrow everything will turn out well. So you'll see what your best Christmas gift is, but that process usually happens one day at a time.

Zacarias y el Arcangel Gabriel

Lc 1, 5-25

Hubo en tiempo de Herodes, rey de Judea, un sacerdote llamado Zacarías, del grupo de Abías, casado con una descendiente de Aarón, llamada Isabel. Ambos eran justos a los ojos de Dios, pues vivían irreprochablemente, cumpliendo los mandamientos y disposiciones del Señor. Pero no tenían hijos, porque Isabel era estéril y los dos, de avanzada edad.

Un día en que le correspondía a su grupo desempeñar ante Dios los oficios sacerdotales, le tocó a Zacarías, según la costumbre de los sacerdotes, entrar al santuario del Señor para ofrecer el incienso, mientras todo el pueblo estaba afuera, en oración, a la hora de la incensación.

Se le apareció entonces un ángel del Señor, de pie, a la derecha del altar del incienso. Al verlo, Zacarías se sobresaltó y un gran temor se apoderó de él. Pero el ángel le dijo: "No temas, Zacarías, porque tu súplica ha sido escuchada. Isabel, tu mujer, te dará un hijo, a quien le pondrás el nombre de Juan. Tú te llenarás de alegría y regocijo, y otros muchos se alegrarán también de su nacimiento, pues él será grande a los ojos del Señor; no beberá vino ni licor y estará lleno del Espíritu Santo, ya desde el seno de su madre. Convertirá a muchos israelitas al Señor; irá delante del Señor con el espíritu y el poder de Elías, para convertir los corazones de los padres hacia sus hijos, dar a los rebeldes la cordura de los justos y prepararle así al Señor un pueblo dispuesto a recibirlo".

Pero Zacarías replicó: "¿Cómo podré estar seguro de esto? Porque yo ya soy viejo y mi mujer también es de edad avanzada". El ángel le contestó: "Yo soy Gabriel, el que asiste delante de Dios. He sido enviado para hablar contigo y darte esta buena noticia. Ahora tú quedarás mudo y no podrás hablar hasta el día en que todo esto suceda, por no haber creído en mis palabras, que se cumplirán a su debido tiempo".

Mientras tanto, el pueblo estaba aguardando a Zacarías y se extrañaba de que tardara tanto en el santuario. Al salir no pudo hablar y en esto conocieron que había tenido una visión en el santuario. Entonces trató de hacerse entender por señas y permaneció mudo.

Al terminar los días de su ministerio, volvió a su casa. Poco después concibió Isabel, su mujer, y durante cinco meses no se dejó ver, pues decía: "Esto es obra del Señor. Por fin se dignó quitar el oprobio que pesaba sobre mí".

GospelLK 1:5-25

In the days of Herod, King of Judea,
there was a priest named Zechariah
of the priestly division of Abijah;
his wife was from the daughters of Aaron,
and her name was Elizabeth.
Both were righteous in the eyes of God,
observing all the commandments
and ordinances of the Lord blamelessly.
But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren
and both were advanced in years.

Once when he was serving as priest
in his division's turn before God,
according to the practice of the priestly service,
he was chosen by lot
to enter the sanctuary of the Lord to burn incense.
Then, when the whole assembly of the people was praying outside
at the hour of the incense offering,
the angel of the Lord appeared to him,
standing at the right of the altar of incense.
Zechariah was troubled by what he saw, and fear came upon him.

But the angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Zechariah,
because your prayer has been heard.
Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son,
and you shall name him John.
And you will have joy and gladness,

for he will be great in the sight of the Lord.
He will drink neither wine nor strong drink.
He will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from his mother's womb,
and he will turn many of the children of Israel
to the Lord their God.
He will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah
to turn the hearts of fathers toward children
and the disobedient to the understanding of the righteous,
to prepare a people fit for the Lord."

Then Zechariah said to the angel,
"How shall I know this?
For I am an old man, and my wife is advanced in years."
And the angel said to him in reply,
"I am Gabriel, who stand before God.
I was sent to speak to you and to announce to you this good news.
But now you will be speechless and unable to talk
until the day these things take place,
because you did not believe my words,
which will be fulfilled at their proper time."
Meanwhile the people were waiting for Zechariah
and were amazed that he stayed so long in the sanctuary.
But when he came out, he was unable to speak to them,
and they realized that he had seen a vision in the sanctuary.
He was gesturing to them but remained mute.

Then, when his days of ministry were completed, he went home.

After this time his wife Elizabeth conceived,
and she went into seclusion for five months, saying,
"So has the Lord done for me at a time when he has seen fit
to take away my disgrace before others."

Meditacion:

Contemplando el pasaje del evangelio de hoy, es dificil no sonreirse frente a la desconfianza de Zacarias.

Zacarias era un sacerdote importante pero tambien El se asusta cuando el Arcangel Gabriel viene a anunciarle la buena nueva de que va a tener que ir comprando pañales.

Y tambien podemos trazar un paralelismo interesante entre la anunciacion a Zacarias y la anunciacion a la Virgen Maria.

Mientras el anuncio del nacimiento de Juan se hace en el gran templo de Jerusalén, el anuncio que el Ángel Gabriel le hace a María se da en la simplicidad de una casa de Nazaret. Frente a la incredulidad de Zacarías contrasta la fe de María. El nacimiento del precursor se da en el seno de una mujer casada estéril, en cambio el Mesías nace en el seno de una virgen. Como signo de reconocimiento Zacarías quedará mudo, en cambio María saldrá a anunciar llena de jubilo a su prima Isabel el don de su maternidad. 

De este paralelismo bíblico podemos sacar algunas deducciones. De alguna forma se nos está queriendo decir que al llegar la plenitud del tiempo de salvación solo hay espacio para una fe humilde y para acoger con humildad la Palabra de Dios. Vivimos en un tiempo donde la idea de Dios se da por descontado. Cada vez nos movemos mas en ambientes secularizados. Nuestro mundo pierde cada día no solo la sensibilidad religiosa, sino también la sensibilidad humana. Nosotros podemos dar testimonio con humildad y con coraje de que vale la pena creer en este Dios de la vida. 

Los anuncios de nacimiento que leemos hoy son una invitación para saber esperar y para no dejar de escuchar Aquel que llama eternamente. A partir de esta escucha silenciosa y fiel hacemos posible que Dios se siga encarnando hoy en nuestra historia, nuestras culturas, nuestros ambientes y nuestras familias para hacer germinar un tiempo nuevo de salvación.

A Dios siempre le interesan los deseos más recónditos del corazón de sus hijos; pero al mismo tiempo actúa para hacer de ti un instrumento de su amor.

“Padre amado, confío en que escuches mis oraciones y me concedas los deseos de mi corazón.” Amen

Contemplating the passage of the gospel of today, it is difficult not to smile in front of the distrust of Zacarias.

Zacarias was an important priest but also He is scared when Archangel Gabriel comes to announce the good news that he will have to go buying diapers.

And we can also draw an interesting parallel between the announcement to Zacarias and the announcement to the Virgin Mary.

From this biblical parallelism we can draw some deductions. In some way we are being asked to say that when the fullness of the time of salvation comes, there is only room for a humble faith and to humbly accept the Word of God. We live in a time where the idea of God is taken for granted. Each time we move more in secularized environments. Our world loses every day not only religious sensitivity, but also human sensitivity. We can bear witness with humility and courage that it is worthwhile to believe in this God of life.

The birth announcements we read today are an invitation to know how to wait and not to stop listening to the One who calls eternally. From this silent and faithful listening we make it possible for God to continue to be embodied today in our history, our cultures, our environments and our families in order to germinate a new time of salvation.

God is always interested in the deepest desires of his children's hearts; but at the same time acts to make you an instrument of his love.

"Dear Father, I trust that you will listen to my prayers and grant me the desires of my heart." Amen

Jose

Mc 13, 24-32

Cristo vino al mundo de la siguiente manera: Estando María, su madre, desposada con José, y antes de que vivieran juntos, sucedió que ella, por obra del Espíritu Santo, estaba esperando un hijo. José, su esposo, que era hombre justo, no queriendo ponerla en evidencia, pensó dejarla en secreto.

Mientras pensaba en estas cosas, un ángel del Señor le dijo en sueños: "José, hijo de David, no dudes en recibir en tu casa a María, tu esposa, porque ella ha concebido por obra del Espíritu Santo. Dará a luz un hijo y tú le pondrás el nombre de Jesús, porque él salvará a su pueblo de sus pecados".

Todo esto sucedió para que se cumpliera lo que había dicho el Señor por boca del profeta Isaías: He aquí que la virgen concebirá y dará a luz un hijo, a quien pondrán el nombre de Emmanuel, que quiere decir Dios-con-nosotros.

Cuando José despertó de aquel sueño, hizo lo que le había mandado el ángel del Señor y recibió a su esposa.

GospelMT 1:18-25

This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about. 
When his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph,
but before they lived together,
she was found with child through the Holy Spirit. 
Joseph her husband, since he was a righteous man,
yet unwilling to expose her to shame,
decided to divorce her quietly. 
Such was his intention when, behold,
the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, 
“Joseph, son of David,
do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. 
For it is through the Holy Spirit
that this child has been conceived in her. 
She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus,
because he will save his people from their sins.” 
All this took place to fulfill
what the Lord had said through the prophet:

Behold, the virgin shall be with child and bear a son,
and they shall name him Emmanuel,

which means “God is with us.” 
When Joseph awoke,
he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him
and took his wife into his home. 
He had no relations with her until she bore a son,
and he named him Jesus.

Meditacion:

En la lectura de hoy dia, a Jose se le cambia la vida.

Sin duda ni en su imaginacion, jamas se vio o penso ser el padre del Salvador del Mundo.. sus planes con Maria eran mucho mas modestos y comunes.

Y sin embargo, Jose solo hizo lo que penso y entendio Dios queria de El.

No rezongo, no clamo a Dios porque su mujer estaba embarazada y su vida no era la que El habia imaginado.. solo acato la voluntad de Dios.

Y esta es la leccion que deberiamos aprender hoy dia, ya a una semana de Navidad. El valor de la aceptacion y la humildad.

Hoy día tenemos la oportunidad de imitar la confiada actitud de obediencia de José. Por ejemplo, si tú piensas hacer una afirmación crítica o denigrante acerca de alguien que está ausente, pero tu conciencia te dice que no y decides no decir nada, es el Señor, que te pide que no te dejes llevar por la murmuración. O tal vez no has querido llamar a un amigo para disculparte por algo que tú hiciste, pero sientes en tu interior el impulso de hacer esa llamada; es el Señor, que te pide que no te dejes dominar por la inacción. Quizás estás en Misa y surge en tu mente el pensamiento de que Dios quiere que dediques un poco más de tiempo a la oración; es Dios que te pide que decidas llevar una vida de oración más constante.

Por supuesto, no siempre se puede saber cuál va a ser el resultado cuando uno decide acatar esas inspiraciones de Dios y ponerlas en práctica, y muchas veces las cosas que suceden no son las que esperábamos. ¡José lo sabe bien! Pero, si seguimos sus pasos, veremos que cuando nos dedicamos a confiar en el Señor y aceptar su guía, la vida puede resultar difícil, pero siempre es satisfactoria.

Tal vez uno nunca sepa lo que Dios va a llevar a cabo a través de uno; pero podemos tener la certeza de que, si no seguimos el ejemplo de José, probablemente no lograremos experimentar la alegría y la satisfacción que él tuvo. La obediencia a Dios no tiene que ser complicada, ni se supone que sea una carga pesada; porque es, en realidad, nuestro deber.

“Padre celestial, enséñame a ser como José, para ponerme en tus manos y aprender a hacer tu voluntad.” Amen

In today's reading, Jose changes his life.

Without doubt or in his imagination, never saw or thought to be the father of the Savior of the World .. his plans with Maria were much more modest and common.

And yet, Jose only did what he thought and understood God wanted from Him.

I do not grumble, I do not cry out to God because his wife was pregnant and his life was not what He had imagined ... I only obey God's will.

Today we have the opportunity to imitate Joseph's confident attitude of obedience. Maybe one never knows what God is going to accomplish through one; but we can be certain that, if we do not follow Joseph's example, we probably will not be able to experience the joy and satisfaction he had. Obedience to God does not have to be complicated, nor is it supposed to be a heavy burden; because it is, in fact, our duty.

Meditacion:

El texto de hoy son los primeros versiculos del evangelio segun Mateo. Para nosotros tal vez nos resulta arido y un poco insulso. Para un cabalista (aquella persona que lee la biblia con un sentido mas numerico) este pasaje es de una riqueza enorme.

Pero no vamos a hablar de kabala hoy o no terminamos mas, vamos a darle otra orientacion mas sencilla de comprender.

Siempre nos resulta peculiar este texto, por su esquema repetitivo y por el elenco de nombres no del todo conocidos. Mas allá de la primera impresión que nos puede dar este relato, por su forma literaria, es fundamental captar el sentido teológico que el autor nos quiere comunicar.

Mateo comienza su evangelio presentándonos la descendencia humana de Jesús. Lo coloca en la línea de descendientes de Abraham hasta llegar a “José, el esposo de María del cual nació Jesús, llamado Cristo” (Mt 1, 16). El evangelista dibuja en esta cadena generacional una breve síntesis de la historia de la salvación que encuentra su plenitud en Jesús-mesías. Uno de los valores teológicos que descubrimos en este texto es la presentación de Jesús como hijo de la humanidad. Descendiente de una historia y una cultura concreta. Con ello se subraya un aspecto fundamental de la Navidad: la encarnación de Dios en nuestra carne.

Otro detalle que llama la atención es que Mateo coloca dentro de la genealogía de Jesús a hombres y mujeres pecadores. El Mesías se encarna en nuestra historia marcada por la fragilidad humana para revestirla con una luz nueva. Con ello también se nos dice que esta buena noticia de salvación que nos trae el Emmanuel tiene un carácter universal. La salvación es para toda la humanidad. Dios no tiene miedo de encarnarse en una historia humana sucia, manchada, oscura.  Jesús entra en nuestra historia por lo débil y lo caído.

Nosotros también formamos parte de esta historia humana santa y pecadora, como aparece en la genealogía de Jesús. De ahí, la invitación para dejar que el Verbo eterno del Padre se encarne en nuestras vidas. Pidamos en este día la gracia de saber asumir nuestra propia condición débil, frágil y pecadora. Solo desde esa experiencia de redención podremos ser portadores de la salvación universal de Dios para contagiar nuestro mundo con nuestra alegría y esperanza.  

Por eso, si tu Adviento ha sido una época apacible y bendecida o un “corre corre” frenético, Dios no deja de ser fiel, y continúa cumpliendo hoy el plan que comenzó hace muchos siglos para llevarnos a todos a su presencia, incluso a ti mismo, para que estemos con él para siempre.

Sí, hermano, ¡Dios es fiel! No te olvides de esto. Él te ayudará mientras tú te esfuerces por dedicar tiempo a la oración y obedecer sus mandamientos. Él está siempre contigo, haciendo realidad sus promesas de enseñarte, bendecirte y guiarte.

“Padre eterno, creo en tu fidelidad. Acompáñame, Señor, te lo ruego, en todas las situaciones que yo encuentre hoy día.” Amen

Today's text are the first verses of the gospel according to Matthew. For us maybe it is arid and a bit bland. For a Kabbalist (that person who reads the Bible with a more numerical sense) this passage is of enormous wealth.

But we are not going to talk about kabala today or we do not finish more, we are going to give it another simpler orientation to understand.

We always find this text peculiar, because of its repetitive scheme and the list of names that are not completely known. Beyond the first impression that this story can give us, because of its literary form, it is fundamental to grasp the theological meaning that the author wants to communicate to us.

Matthew begins his gospel by presenting us the human offspring of Jesus. He places him in the line of Abraham's descendants until he reaches "Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom Jesus was born, called Christ" (Mt 1:16). The evangelist draws in this generational chain a brief synthesis of the history of salvation that finds its fullness in Jesus-messiah. One of the theological values that we discover in this text is the presentation of Jesus as the son of humanity. Descendant of a specific history and culture. This underscores a fundamental aspect of Christmas: the incarnation of God in our flesh.

Another detail that is striking is that Matthew places sinful men and women within the genealogy of Jesus. The Messiah is embodied in our history marked by human frailty to clothe it with a new light. With this we are also told that this good news of salvation that Emmanuel brings us has a universal character. Salvation is for all humanity. God is not afraid to incarnate in a dirty, stained, dark human history. Jesus enters our history because of the weak and the fallen.

We are also part of this holy and sinful human history, as it appears in the genealogy of Jesus. Hence, the invitation to let the eternal Word of the Father become incarnate in our lives. Let us ask this day for the grace of knowing how to assume our own weak, fragile and sinful condition. Only from this experience of redemption can we be the bearers of God's universal salvation to infect our world with our joy and hope.

Therefore, if your Advent has been a peaceful and blessed time or a frantic "run runs", God does not stop being faithful, and continues to fulfill today the plan that began many centuries ago to take us all to his presence, even to you. same, so that we are with him forever.

En aquel tiempo, los discípulos le preguntaron a Jesús: "¿Por qué dicen los escribas que primero tiene que venir Elías?"

Él les respondió: "Ciertamente Elías ha de venir y lo pondrá todo en orden. Es más, yo les aseguro a ustedes que Elías ha venido ya, pero no lo reconocieron e hicieron con él cuanto les vino en gana. Del mismo modo, el Hijo del hombre va a padecer a manos de ellos".

Meditacion:

El evangelio rescata muchas oportunidades donde los apostoles preguntan sobre diferentes temas y Jesus responde.

Este pasaje del evangelio sucede despues de la transfiguracion de Jesus donde los apostoles Pedro, Santiago y Juan ven a su Señor transfigurado en gloria. Cuando van volviendo es cuando sucede este dialogo.

Jesus era un hombre muy requerido por todo mundo.. enfermos, personas que necesitaban de su misericordia, pueblo en general que lo seguia.. donde iba habia una multitud y los momentos a solas con sus discipulos eran raros.

Pero son esos momentos a solas cuando los discipulos comienzan a forjarse como misioneros, preguntando lo que les causaba dudas.

De la misma manera, en este fin de semana casi nos caeremos del tiempo de Adviento; encenderemos una vela rosa, significando la alegria de la llegada del niño. Tratemos de aprovechar y llegarnos un ratito para estar a solas con Jesus y contarle como va todo.

Confiesense para llegar a la navidad limpios y listos para otro año liturgico que ya comenzo.

Y hablen con Jesus, eso es lo mas importante. No tengan temor, solo hablen y cuentenle sus cosas.

El sabra escucharlos.

“Amado Señor, concédeme la gracia de disfrutar de tu presencia hoy y aquí mismo.” Amen

The gospel rescues many opportunities where the apostles ask about different topics and Jesus responds.

This passage of the gospel happens after the transfiguration of Jesus where the apostles Peter, James and John see their Lord transfigured in glory. When they go back is when this dialogue happens.

Jesus was a man very required by everyone ... sick people, people who needed his mercy, people in general who followed him .. where there was a crowd and moments alone with his disciples were rare.

But it is those moments alone when the disciples begin to forge themselves as missionaries, asking what caused them doubts.

In the same way, on this weekend we will almost fall from the time of Advent; we will light a pink candle, signifying the joy of the arrival of the child. Let's try to take advantage and get there a little while to be alone with Jesus and tell him how everything is going.
