Misericordia

Lc 6, 36-38

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: “Sean misericordiosos, como su Padre es misericordioso. No juzguen y no serán juzgados; no condenen y no serán condenados; perdonen y serán perdonados.

Den y se les dará: recibirán una medida buena, bien sacudida, apretada y rebosante en los pliegues de su túnica. Porque con la misma medida con que midan, serán medidos”.

Meditacion:

La oración penitencial comunitaria de Daniel en la primera lectura nos prepara para escuchar el texto del evangelio: “Sed compasivos, como también vuestro Padre es compasivo”. Pero, ¿quién se siente preparado para actuar como Dios actúa?

Y a continuación nos da como una especie de vocabulario básico para vivir en cristiano, algo así como las frases fundamentales para entenderte con la gente cuando viajas a un país extranjero: “No juzguéis, no condenéis, perdonad, dad…Dios os medirá con la misma medida con que vosotros midáis a los demás.”

Sólo quien tiene el corazón abierto a Dios y ha experimentado la compasión y el perdón en su vida, es capaz de actuar guiado por esos sentimientos.

Decíamos en el salmo de hoy: “Señor, no nos trates como merecen nuestros pecados…, que tu compasión nos alcance pronto pues estamos agotados.”

En el Reino que Jesús inaugura, hay que ignorar las barreras creadas por afinidades y simpatías naturales. Se trata de adoptar el comportamiento misericordioso de Dios, para recrear una humanidad nueva. El amor del discípulo de Jesús siempre es entendido en el Nuevo Testamento no como un sentimiento, sino como una acción y una tarea, y debe alcanzar incluso a aquellos que no lo merecen: los enemigos, los que te odian, los que te golpean, los que te roban.

La Beata Teresa de Calcuta siguió practicando el amor total y desinteresado al prójimo más pobre y abandonado a pesar de la oscuridad y desolación interior en que vivía. Así lo revelan sus cartas íntimas. Nadie podía imaginar que esta mujer tan entregada a las obras de caridad más heroicas, viviera en una profunda noche espiritual: no sentía la cercanía de Dios, pero nunca renunció a la compasión. Esa es su grandeza espiritual y lo que la convierte en ejemplo permanente para nosotros. Su amor a los pobres era fruto de una fe pura y desnuda en Jesús, cuya palabra no se cansaba de escuchar. ¿Con el corazón rebosante de alegría quien no es capaz de algún heroísmo?

“Padre celestial, muéstrame hoy tu misericordia para que yo aprenda a ser compasivo.” Amen

Meditacion:

El Señor sabe cómo somos y cuáles son nuestras luchas y aspiraciones, pero lo que él desea es llevarnos más cerca de su perfección. Reflexionando sobre lo que dijo Jesús, de “amar a los enemigos,” San Cipriano, en el siglo III, alentaba a sus feligreses a poner atención a cómo se relacionaban los unos con los otros. Tomemos en serio sus palabras hoy y pidámosle al Espíritu Santo que nos libre de toda división, celos y orgullo:

“Si quieres alcanzar los premios del cielo, despójate de toda mala intención y refórmate en Cristo. Tienes que quitar las espinas y los abrojos de tu corazón para que la semilla del Señor produzca una cosecha abundante, de manera que la amargura que se ha depositado en tu corazón sea diluida por la dulzura de Cristo. Justicia

Mt 5, 20-26

Han oído que se dijo a los antiguos: No matarás y el que mate será llevado ante el tribunal. Pero yo les digo: Todo el que se enoje con su hermano, será llevado también ante el tribunal; el que insulte a su hermano, será llevado ante el tribunal supremo, y el que lo desprecie, será llevado al fuego del lugar de castigo.

Por lo tanto, si cuando vas a poner tu ofrenda sobre el altar, te acuerdas allí mismo de que tu hermano tiene alguna queja contra ti, deja tu ofrenda junto al altar y ve primero a reconciliarte con tu hermano, y vuelve luego a presentar tu ofrenda.

Arréglate pronto con tu adversario, mientras vas con él por el camino; no sea que te entregue al juez, el juez al policía y te metan a la cárcel. Te aseguro que no saldrás de allí hasta que hayas pagado el último centavo”.

Sin duda el Señor sorprendió a sus oyentes al interpretar la ley de Moisés de esta forma. Para él, la cólera, los insultos y las rencillas no tienen cabida en el corazón del creyente. ¿Por qué daba tanta importancia a las relaciones humanas? Porque somos hijos del mismo Padre y hermanos unos de otros, de manera que estamos tan firmemente vinculados entre todos que cualquier quiebre de la unidad produce graves daños en el Cuerpo de Cristo.

Los cristianos hemos de preservar y fortalecer la unidad del Cuerpo. Este desafío se extiende a todas las relaciones personales; por ejemplo, ¿cómo te llevas tú con tus familiares y parientes, con tus vecinos y compañeros de trabajo, sean o no católicos o cristianos? ¿Te muestras amable con ellos? ¿Los tratas con respeto y sin hacer diferencias? ¿Te preocupas por los necesitados, especialmente los pobres y los solitarios?

En el Cuerpo de Cristo, todos estamos tan unidos que cualquier pecado que se cometa tiene consecuencias no solo para el causante, sino para todos. ¡Nuestra unidad es una parte fundamental de la vida en Cristo! En efecto, solo podemos ser partícipes de la vida de la Santísima Trinidad en la medida en que estemos firmemente unidos los unos a los otros. Este es el plan que el Padre tiene para nosotros. Cuando pecamos contra algún hermano o contra Dios, nos separamos del Cuerpo y esto es precisamente lo que desea Satanás. Por eso el perdón y la reconciliación son tan importantes.

¡Mantengamos la unidad cristiana a toda costa! Así encontraremos alegría y paz. Sucede frecuentemente que la arrogancia y la terquedad nos impiden actuar con amor y paciencia para que una amistad no se destruya. Pidan y se les dara

Mt 7, 7-12

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: “Pidan y se les dará; busquen y encontrarán; toquen y se les abrirá. Porque todo el que pide, recibe; el que busca, encuentra; y al que toca, se le abre.

¿Hay acaso entre ustedes alguno que le dé una piedra a su hijo, si éste le pide pan? Y si le pide pescado, ¿le dará una serpiente? Si ustedes, a pesar de ser malos, saben dar cosas buenas a sus hijos, con cuánta mayor razón el Padre, que está en los cielos, dará cosas buenas a quienes se las pidan.

Traten a los demás como quieren que ellos los traten a ustedes. En esto se resumen la ley y los profetas”.

Meditacion:

"Traten a los demas como quieren que ellos los traten a ustedes" 

Este evangelio nos muestra el valor de amar a nuestro projimo pero tambien dice "piden y se les dara". No dice "pidan y ganaran la loteria" o "Pidan y no tendran que trabajar nunca mas". Si nuestros hijos nos piden cosas irrazonables, les explicamos que aun no estan listos para esas cosas... con Dios pasa lo mismo. Por alli pedimos lo que no necesitamos  para el momento en que estamos viviendo.

Jesús en el evangelio nos enseña a orar con confianza perseverante. Por la experiencia que tiene de Dios nos revela cómo es el corazón de su Padre. Dios es nuestro Padre y nos ama con un amor gratuito, inmenso, desbordante. Quizás no nos creemos del todo este amor, probablemente lo repetimos y lo decimos seguido, pero puede ser que nos neguemos a experimentarlo en nuestra vida. Este tiempo de Cuaresma como camino de preparación a la Pascua es un momento oportuno para cultivar esta experiencia. Para tomárnosla en serio. Jesús nos invita hoy a entrar en comunión viva con el Padre, es una experiencia que nos puede cambiar interiormente: pedir, buscar, llamar, no permanecer sin esperanza. El Padre de Jesús, fuente inagotable de bondad «dará cosas buenas a los que le pide».

“Amado Padre celestial, escucha hoy el clamor de mi corazón, te lo ruego, pues necesito ayuda para crecer más en el amor.” Amen

Genter perversa

Lc 11, 29-32

En aquel tiempo, la multitud se apiñaba alrededor de Jesús y comenzó a decirles: “La gente de este tiempo es una gente perversa. Pide una señal, pero no se le dará más señal que la de Jonás. Pues así como Jonás fue una señal para los habitantes de Nínive, lo mismo será el Hijo del hombre para la gente de este tiempo.

Cuando sean juzgados los hombres de este tiempo, la reina del sur se levantará el día del juicio para condenarlos, porque ella vino desde los últimos rincones de la tierra para escuchar la sabiduría de Salomón, y aquí hay uno que es más que Salomón.

Cuando sea juzgada la gente de este tiempo, los hombres de Nínive se levantarán el día del juicio para condenarla, porque ellos se convirtieron con la predicación de Jonás, y aquí hay uno que es más que Jonás”.

Meditacion:

El libro de Jonás es una especie de larga parábola cuyo mensaje principal es la universalidad de la salvación: la misericordia de Dios no se limita solo a su pueblo elegido, sino que abraza a toda la humanidad. Por segunda vez, el profeta viene mandado por Dios a la capital del reino asirio: Nínive, que era una ciudad inmensa. Para anunciar la destrucción de la ciudad a causa del mal comportamiento de sus habitantes. En la primer llamada Jonás responde huyendo de la misión que Dios le confía: ¿Cómo puede un pequeño hombre profetizar la destrucción de una “superpotencia” enemiga en su propio territorio?

En su calidad de profeta Jonás anuncia la palabra de amenaza y de atención en nombre de Dios (v.4) y su predicación toca el corazón de los habitantes de Nínive y del mismo rey. «Los ninivitas creyeron en Dios». Es interesante notar que el cambio de vida, la conversión brota porque «creyeron en Dios». El cambio de comportamiento es sostenido por la esperanza de que el arrepentimiento sincero del ser humano toca el corazón de Dios que ofrece perdón y reconciliación.

Mientras la gente se reúne entorno a Jesús, él les responde a los que «por ponerlo a prueba le han pedido un signo del cielo». Jesús rechaza un signo que apague la curiosidad y la sed de lo sorprendente, en su respuesta deja intuir su propia identidad divina «aquí hay uno que es más que Jonás». Les está diciendo que él mismo es el Signo del cielo, el Mesías prometido y largamente esperado por el pueblo de Israel, pero que ahora no lo reconocen porque se presenta de un modo muy diverso respecto a lo que la gente esperaba de él.

Jesús es un llamado viviente a la conversión, como lo fue Jonás para los habitantes de Nínive, lo sigue siendo él para su comunidad de discípulos. Jesús huye de los signos que llamen la atención, nos ofrece su palabra y la misericordia de Dios. En la Cuaresma estamos invitados a no quedarnos en una práctica superficial de este tiempo, contentándonos con pequeñas acciones, como especie de “floreros cuaresmales”, para tranquilizar nuestra conciencia. El llamado a la conversión debe llegar a lo más profundo de nuestra vida. Ser capaces de descubrir los signos de la presencia del amor de Dios y responder a ellos con gratuidad. De esa forma comenzará a brotar en nosotros el deseo de una vuelta sincera al Señor.

Jesus is a living call to conversion, as Jonah was for the inhabitants of Nineveh, he remains so for his community of disciples. Jesus flees the signs that attract attention, offers us his word and the mercy of God. In Lent we are invited not to stay in a superficial practice of this time, content ourselves with small actions, as a kind of "Lenten vases", to reassure our conscience. The call to conversion must reach the deepest part of our life. Being able to discover the signs of the presence of God's love and respond to them for free. In this way the desire for a sincere return to the Lord will begin to sprout in us.

Mt 6, 7-15

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: “Cuando ustedes hagan oración no hablen mucho, como los paganos, que se imaginan que a fuerza de mucho hablar, serán escuchados. No los imiten, porque el Padre sabe lo que les hace falta, antes de que se lo pidan. Ustedes, pues, oren así:

Padre nuestro, que estás en el cielo,
santificado sea tu nombre,
venga tu Reino,
hágase tu voluntad
en la tierra como en el cielo.

Danos hoy nuestro pan de cada día,
perdona nuestras ofensas,
como también nosotros perdonamos a los que nos ofenden;
no nos dejes caer en tentación
y líbranos del mal.

Meditacion:

La creación proclama la gloria de Dios y en realidad nos quedamos arrobados admirando la majestad de las montañas, la inmensidad del océano y la cálida y constante luz del sol. Pero mucho más grandiosa es la obra de la redención, una obra que comienza con el perdón. El perdón lo inventó Dios, no el hombre, y es tan hermoso como el más glorioso paisaje de la naturaleza, porque proviene justamente del corazón compasivo y misericordioso de nuestro Padre.

Esta es la misericordia de Dios que se aprecia claramente en la parábola del hijo pródigo y también en el caso del hombre tullido que le llevaron a Jesús, y lo primero que él hizo fue perdonarle los pecados (Mateo 9, 2-6). Cuando la mujer adúltera derramó sus lágrimas sobre los pies de Jesús, él la perdonó porque ella se había arrepentido y aprendido a amar porque mucho fue lo que se le perdonó (Lucas 7, 47-49).

El Señor nos pide que nosotros también perdonemos con el mismo espíritu, y nos enseñó que no se le pueden poner límites al perdón: Hemos de perdonar “setenta veces siete” (Mateo 18, 22). Y cuando objetamos diciendo que eso es imposible, Jesús nos recuerda que si tuviéramos fe como un granito de mostaza podríamos decirle a la montaña que se moviera y ella obedecería (17, 20). De manera que, si él lo prometió, nosotros podemos creerlo. En efecto, por el poder de su Espíritu Santo, podemos arrancar de raíz todo lo que sea hostilidad y resentimiento de nuestro corazón. ¡Para él nada es imposible!

Pero Dios no espera que tengamos una fe perfecta en forma instantánea. Él sabe que algunas veces nos cuesta mucho perdonar, por eso nos pide que confiemos en su amor y su poder. Si podemos decir: “Señor, quiero tratar de perdonar a tal persona” ya hemos iniciado el proceso. Dios está actuando en nuestro corazón y tal vez nos pida luego dar un paso más; por ejemplo, enviarle un texto o contactar a la persona. Lo bueno es que, con cada paso que demos, el Señor nos infundirá un poco más de su propia misericordia y amor para que los demos a otros, y así todo el proceso es posible y valioso. Hermano, reza hoy el Padre Nuestro con un nuevo espíritu de amor y devoción a tu Padre celestial; él te recompensará.

“Te ruego, Jesús amado que me concedas la gracia de ser compasivo y comprensivo y no guardar resentimientos.” Amen

The creation proclaims the glory of God and in reality we were left admiring the majesty of the mountains, the immensity of the ocean and the warm and constant light of the sun. But much more great is the work of redemption, a work that begins with forgiveness. Forgiveness was invented by God, not man, and it is as beautiful as the most glorious landscape of nature, because it comes precisely from the compassionate and merciful heart of our Father.

This is the mercy of God that can be clearly seen in the parable of the prodigal son and also in the case of the crippled man who led him to Jesus, and the first thing he did was to forgive his sins (Matthew 9, 2-6). When the adulterous woman shed her tears on Jesus' feet, he forgave her because she had repented and learned to love because much was forgiven (Luke 7, 47-49).

The Lord asks us to forgive in the same spirit, and he taught us that no limits can be placed on forgiveness: We must forgive “seventy times seven” (Matthew 18, 22). And when we object saying that this is impossible, Jesus reminds us that if we had faith like a mustard grain we could tell the mountain to move and she would obey (17, 20). But God does not expect us to have perfect faith instantly. He knows that sometimes it costs us a lot to forgive, so he asks us to trust his love and his power. If we can say: "Lord, I want to try to forgive such a person" we have already begun the process. God is acting in our hearts and may ask us to take another step; for example, send a text or contact the person. The good thing is that, with each step we take, the Lord will infuse us with a little more of his own mercy and love so that we can give them to others, and thus the whole process is possible and valuable. Brother, pray the Our Father today with a new spirit of love and devotion to your heavenly Father; He will reward you.

"I beg you, beloved Jesus, to grant me the grace to be compassionate and understanding and not to resent." Amen

Me acogieron cuando era forastero

Mt 25, 31-46

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: “Cuando venga el Hijo del hombre, rodeado de su gloria, acompañado de todos sus ángeles, se sentará en su trono de gloria. Entonces serán congregadas ante él todas las naciones, y él apartará a los unos de los otros, como aparta el pastor a las ovejas de los cabritos, y pondrá a las ovejas a su derecha y a los cabritos a su izquierda.

Entonces dirá el rey a los de su derecha: ‘Vengan, benditos de mi Padre; tomen posesión del Reino preparado para ustedes desde la creación del mundo; porque estuve hambriento y me dieron de comer, sediento y me dieron de beber, era forastero y me hospedaron, estuve desnudo y me vistieron, enfermo y me visitaron, encarcelado y fueron a verme’. Entonces dirá también a los de su izquierda: ‘Apártense de mí, malditos; vayan al fuego eterno, preparado para el diablo y sus ángeles; porque estuve hambriento y no me dieron de comer, sediento y no me dieron de beber, era forastero y no me hospedaron, estuve desnudo y no me vistieron, enfermo y encarcelado y no me visitaron’.

Entonces ellos le responderán: ‘Señor, ¿cuándo te vimos hambriento o sediento, de forastero o desnudo, enfermo o encarcelado y no te asistimos?’ Y él les replicará: ‘Yo les aseguro que, cuando no lo hicieron con uno de aquellos más insignificantes, tampoco lo hicieron conmigo’. Meditacion:

Y, la verdad es que estamos llenos de excusas.

Dios en nuestra vida queda, generalmente, para despues. "Hoy no tengo tiempo, tengo que llevar los chicos a la escuela y despues lavar la ropa"  o tal vez "mi trabajo... es que si no trabajo, no como y no tengo tiempo de pasar por la Iglesia 5 minutos a rezar". Y a veces incluso es peor "para que voy a dar limosna? para que se lo gasten en vino, licor o droga?"

Todos hemos escuchado y puesto en practica estas "excusas" para no hacernos cargo de la unica mision por la que hemos venido todos al mundo: para ser santos.

Le escapamos al compromiso con Dios porque nos genera responsabilidades, nos obliga a ver la pobreza del otro, la desnudes impudica de la falta de moral, nos cuesta aceptar no solo nuestro pecado sino el de los demas.

La semana pasada me paso algo que en lo personal me puso a reflexionar sobre este punto. Hasta donde debemos aceptar y perdonar? es lo mismo el perdon para la victima como para el victimario? Debo rezar por el asesino, por el violador, por el abusador, por el que me hace mal cada dia?

Y la verdad es que la misericordia es para todos, sin distincion, buenos y malos "que valor tiene amar a los que queremos, eso tambien lo hacen los fariseos" dice Jesus "amen a sus enemigos" termina.

Y hoy la primera lectura nos dice "‘Sean santos, porque yo, el Señor, soy santo".

O sea mis amigos desparramados por el mundo que salgamos a la vida (hoy, lunes) con una actitud de santos, dispuestos a perdonar, aceptar y orar por nuestra salvacion y la de los demas.

“Jesús, Señor y Dios mío, ansío verte en gloria y escuchar que me llamas diciéndome ‘Ven, bendito de mi Padre’. Permíteme prepararme para esa gloriosa ocasión amándote aquí en la tierra tanto como te amaré en el cielo.” Amen

And, the truth is that we are full of excuses.

God in our life is generally for later. Last week something happened to me that personally made me reflect on this point. How far should we accept and forgive? Is forgiveness the same for the victim as for the victimizer? Should I pray for the murderer, for the rapist, for the abuser, for what makes me sick every day?

And the truth is that mercy is for everyone, without distinction, good and bad "what value has to love those we love, so do the Pharisees," says Jesus "love your enemies" ends.

And today the first reading tells us "‘ Be holy, because I, the Lord, am holy. "
