Lc 17, 26-37

En aquellos días, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: “Lo que sucedió en el tiempo de Noé también sucederá en el tiempo del Hijo del hombre: comían y bebían, se casaban hombres y mujeres, hasta el día en que Noé entró en el arca; entonces vino el diluvio y los hizo perecer a todos.

Lo mismo sucedió en el tiempo de Lot: comían y bebían, compraban y vendían, sembraban y construían, pero el día en que Lot salió de Sodoma, llovió fuego y azufre del cielo y los hizo perecer a todos. Pues lo mismo sucederá el día en que el Hijo del hombre se manifieste.

Aquél día, el que esté en la azotea y tenga sus cosas en la casa, que no baje a recogerlas; y el que esté en el campo, que no mire hacia atrás. Acuérdense de la mujer de Lot. Quien intente conservar su vida, la perderá; y quien la pierda, la conservará.

Yo les digo: aquella noche habrá dos en un mismo lecho: uno será tomado y el otro abandonado; habrá dos mujeres moliendo juntas: una será tomada y la otra abandonada’’.

Entonces, los discípulos le dijeron: “¿Dónde sucederá eso, Señor?” Y él les respondió: “Donde hay un cadáver, se juntan los buitres”.

Jesus said to his disciples:
“As it was in the days of Noah,
so it will be in the days of the Son of Man;
they were eating and drinking,
marrying and giving in marriage up to the day
that Noah entered the ark,
and the flood came and destroyed them all.
Similarly, as it was in the days of Lot:
they were eating, drinking, buying,
selling, planting, building;
on the day when Lot left Sodom,
fire and brimstone rained from the sky to destroy them all.
So it will be on the day the Son of Man is revealed.
On that day, someone who is on the housetop
and whose belongings are in the house
must not go down to get them,
and likewise one in the field
must not return to what was left behind.
Remember the wife of Lot.
Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it,
but whoever loses it will save it.
I tell you, on that night there will be two people in one bed;
one will be taken, the other left.
And there will be two women grinding meal together;
one will be taken, the other left.” 
They said to him in reply, “Where, Lord?”
He said to them, “Where the body is,
there also the vultures will gather.”

Meditacion:

¿Qué es lo mejor que puedes hacer si alguna vez quedas atrapado en arenas movedizas? ¡Relajarte! Podría parecer ilógico, pero lo que menos tienes que hacer es tratar desesperadamente de salir, porque entre más lo intentes, más profundamente te hundirás. La clave es relajarse, inclinarse como para recostarse y permitir que tu cuerpo flote. Tus piernas saldrán lentamente a la superficie y podrás accionar los brazos poco a poco para avanzar a suelo firme. ¡Solo tienes que ir en contra de tus instintos!

El miedo y la preocupación por el futuro pueden afectarte de una forma similar a hundirse en arenas movedizas. Escuchar malas noticias, preocuparse por algo malo que haya en tu familia, temer por tu salud, todas esas cosas pueden arrastrarte al pantano de la preocupación y el temor. Entre más te centres en la ansiedad, más profundamente te puedes hundir.

El consejo de Jesús sobre estos pensamientos caóticos podría sorprenderte: no tengas miedo, en vez de eso, utiliza la estrategia de las arenas movedizas. En lugar de preocuparte por el futuro, concéntrate en la realidad del presente: él ya está aquí a tu lado. Procura mantener la calma y rendirte a él para evitar hundirte.

Utiliza como ejemplo el Evangelio de hoy. Jesús dice claramente que no quiere que sus seguidores se queden atrapados en el temor de preguntarse cuándo o cómo será su segunda venida. El Señor no quiere que luchen para “salvar” su vida, especialmente frente a los temores del futuro; más bien desea que “pierdan” su vida tratando de no controlar la ansiedad.

¿Te parece que la ansiedad te está hundiendo? La próxima vez que sientas que te estás ahogando en las arenas movedizas de la preocupación, trata de relajarte y pensar en los planes que el Señor tiene para ti. Su primera venida puso en marcha la revolución del amor y la misericordia y edificó un cimiento sólido que evita que te ahogues. Lo que es mejor, ese cimiento se hará cada vez más fuerte con cada acto de fe y confianza que realices.

Así que confía en el Señor y permite que te lleve a un suelo sólido.

“Señor, te ruego que me ayudes a descansar en tu presencia, quiero dejar ir el miedo y la duda.”

What's the best thing to do if you ever get caught in quicksand? Relax! It might seem illogical, but the least you have to do is try desperately to get out, because the more you try, the deeper you will sink. The key is to relax, lean over to lie down, and allow your body to float. Your legs will slowly surface and you will be able to operate your arms little by little to advance to firm ground. You just have to go against your instincts!

Fear and worry about the future can affect you in a way similar to sinking in quicksand. Hearing bad news, worrying about something bad in your family, fear for your health - all of these things can drag you into the swamp of worry and fear. The more you focus on anxiety, the deeper you can sink.

Jesus' advice on these chaotic thoughts might surprise you: don't be afraid, instead use the quicksand strategy. Instead of worrying about the future, focus on the reality of the present: he is already here by your side. Try to stay calm and surrender to him to avoid sinking.

Use today's Gospel as an example. Jesus clearly says that he does not want his followers to get caught up in the fear of wondering when or what his second coming will be like. The Lord does not want you to fight to "save" your life, especially in the face of future fears; Rather, you want them to "lose" their life trying not to control anxiety.

Does anxiety seem to be sinking you? The next time you feel like you are drowning in the quicksand of worry, try to relax and think about the plans the Lord has for you. His first coming launched the revolution of love and mercy and built a solid foundation that keeps you from drowning. Best of all, that foundation will grow stronger with every leap of faith and trust you make.

So trust the Lord and allow him to lead you to solid ground.

"Lord, I beg you to help me rest in your presence, I want to let go of fear and doubt."

En aquel tiempo, los fariseos le preguntaron a Jesús: “¿Cuándo llegará el Reino de Dios?” Jesús les respondió: “El Reino de Dios no llega aparatosamente. No se podrá decir: ‘Está aquí’ o ‘Está allá’, porque el Reino de Dios ya está entre ustedes”.

Les dijo entonces a sus discípulos: “Llegará un tiempo en que ustedes desearán disfrutar siquiera un solo día de la presencia del Hijo del hombre y no podrán. Entonces les dirán: ‘Está aquí’ o ‘Está allá’, pero no vayan corriendo a ver, pues así como el fulgor del relámpago brilla de un extremo a otro del cielo, así será la venida del Hijo del hombre en su día. Pero antes tiene que padecer mucho y ser rechazado por los hombres de esta generación”.

Asked by the Pharisees when the Kingdom of God would come,
Jesus said in reply,
“The coming of the Kingdom of God cannot be observed,
and no one will announce, ‘Look, here it is,’ or, ‘There it is.’
For behold, the Kingdom of God is among you.”

Then he said to his disciples,
“The days will come when you will long to see
one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it.
There will be those who will say to you,
‘Look, there he is,’ or ‘Look, here he is.’
Do not go off, do not run in pursuit.
For just as lightning flashes
and lights up the sky from one side to the other,
so will the Son of Man be in his day.
But first he must suffer greatly and be rejected by this generation.”

Meditacion:

En el Evangelio de hoy, Jesús nos enseña sobre la fuerza oculta más poderosa de todas: el Reino de Dios. Nos explica que la venida de este Reino no estuvo acompañada de mucha fanfarria, y fue imperceptible. La humilde venida de Jesús en la carne fue la inauguración del Reino, y ese fue un gran comienzo. Pero a partir de ese momento, todo comenzó a cambiar. Las fuerzas del Reino ahora están trabajando de una forma nueva, y es solo cuestión de tiempo antes de que el Señor reclame su reinado de una manera más pública.

Así que vivimos en un tiempo de “ya casi, pero todavía no”. El Reino de Dios verdaderamente está entre nosotros, pero aún no es completamente visible. Esto no siempre resulta sencillo para nosotros; queremos ver más, experimentar más, pero Dios nos está pidiendo que ejercitemos la fe y confiemos en su presencia y poder invisibles.

El Señor desea que vivamos con esperanza, no en una anhelante negación de la realidad, sino con una certeza segura de que este Reino verdaderamente está en medio de nosotros. In today's Gospel, Jesus teaches us about the most powerful hidden force of all: the Kingdom of God. He explains that the coming of this Kingdom was not accompanied by much fanfare, and it was imperceptible. Jesus' humble coming in the flesh was the inauguration of the Kingdom, and that was a great start. But from that moment, everything began to change. The forces of the Realm are now at work in a new way, and it is only a matter of time before the Lord claims his kingship in a more public way.

So we live in a time of "almost, but not yet". The Kingdom of God is truly among us, but it is not yet fully visible. This is not always easy for us; we want to see more, experience more, but God is asking us to exercise faith and trust in his invisible presence and power.

The Lord wants us to live in hope, not in longing denial of reality, but with a sure certainty that this Kingdom is truly in our midst. We can be peaceful and confident, secure in the knowledge that Jesus, our King, is in control, and we will eventually see him return amid unmistakable glory.

So this time is both rest and activity. We rest in God and his promises, but we are also active Kingdom ambassadors. Sometimes the work is nothing more than admiring the work of the majestic river that forms the magnificent architecture of the Kingdom. But at other times, we can show this work in progress to other people. And at all times, we can give thanks to our King, who is always doing his work in the world around us.

"Lord, I beg you: your Kingdom come!"

En aquel tiempo, cuando Jesús iba de camino a Jerusalén, pasó entre Samaria y Galilea. Estaba cerca de un pueblo, cuando le salieron al encuentro diez leprosos, los cuales se detuvieron a lo lejos y a gritos le decían: “¡Jesús, maestro, ten compasión de nosotros!”

Al verlos, Jesús les dijo: “Vayan a presentarse a los sacerdotes”. Mientras iban de camino, quedaron limpios de la lepra.

Uno de ellos, al ver que estaba curado, regresó, alabando a Dios en voz alta, se postró a los pies de Jesús y le dio las gracias. Ese era un samaritano. Entonces dijo Jesús: “¿No eran diez los que quedaron limpios? ¿Dónde están los otros nueve? ¿No ha habido nadie, fuera de este extranjero, que volviera para dar gloria a Dios?” Después le dijo al samaritano: “Levántate y vete. Tu fe te ha salvado”.

They stood at a distance from him and raised their voice, saying,

“Go show yourselves to the priests.”
As they were going they were cleansed.
And one of them, realizing he had been healed,
returned, glorifying God in a loud voice;
and he fell at the feet of Jesus and thanked him.
He was a Samaritan.
Jesus said in reply,
“Ten were cleansed, were they not?
Where are the other nine?
Has none but this foreigner returned to give thanks to God?”
Then he said to him, “Stand up and go;
your faith has saved you.”

Meditacion:

En el Evangelio de hoy, Jesús le otorga un regalo valioso a diez personas que padecían una enfermedad devastadora: el don de la sanidad. Lo hizo porque los amaba y quería hacer algo por ellos, esa es la primera razón para entregar un regalo. Pero parece que solo uno de ellos entendió la segunda razón de este regalo: él fue el único que regresó para dar gracias al Señor y alabarlo. De todas estas personas, solo este amigo entendió que Jesús lo estaba invitando a tener una relación más cercana con él.

Lo mismo sucede hoy en día. Dios nos da muchos, muchos regalos: amigos, familia, talentos y capacidades únicas, su Iglesia, y distintos signos de su amor y su presencia en nuestra vida. Dios nos ha dado todos libremente, por amor y por el deseo de acercarnos más a su corazón. Cada uno de estos regalos contiene en sí mismo una invitación especial para que nosotros aprendamos más de él y profundicemos más en la relación que tenemos con él. El regalo que nos ha dado de la familia revela el compromiso que tiene con nosotros; los amigos nos muestran la alegría que podemos sentir al estar con él; los talentos nos animan a querer servirlo; la Iglesia provee un hogar en el que podemos vivir a su lado. Y la lista sigue.

Hoy, te invito a que medites en los dones que Dios te ha dado. Puede ser algo tan pequeño como una sencilla petición contestada o tan grande como una sanación milagrosa. Toma un momento para darle gracias por amarte de esta manera y piensa en cómo puedes tú corresponder a ese amor.

“Gracias, Señor, por todo lo que has hecho en mi vida. Te suplico que me des la fuerza para amar a otros de la misma manera.” Amen

In today's Gospel, Jesus gives a valuable gift to ten people who suffered from devastating illness: the gift of healing. He did it because he loved them and wanted to do something for them, that is the first reason to give a gift. But it seems that only one of them understood the second reason for this gift: he was the only one who returned to thank and praise the Lord. Of all these people, only this friend understood that Jesus was inviting him to have a closer relationship with him.

The same is true today. God gives us many, many gifts: friends, family, unique talents and abilities, his Church, and various signs of his love and presence in our lives. God has given us all freely, out of love and out of the desire to draw closer to his heart. Each of these gifts contains in itself a special invitation for us to learn more about him and deepen our relationship with him. The gift that he has given us from the family reveals his commitment to us; friends show us the joy we can feel by being with him; talents encourage us to want to serve him; the Church provides a home where we can live alongside him. And the list goes on.

Today, I invite you to meditate on the gifts that God has given you. It can be something as small as a simple answered request or as large as a miraculous healing. Take a moment to thank him for loving you in this way and think about how you can reciprocate that love.

Thank you, Lord, for all that you have done in my life. I beg you to give me the strength to love others in the same way. " Amen

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus apóstoles: “¿Quién de ustedes, si tiene un siervo que labra la tierra o pastorea los rebaños, le dice cuando éste regresa del campo: ‘Entra enseguida y ponte a comer’? ¿No le dirá más bien: ‘Prepárame de comer y disponte a servirme, para que yo coma y beba; después comerás y beberás tú?’ ¿Tendrá acaso que mostrarse agradecido con el siervo, porque éste cumplió con su obligación?

Así también ustedes, cuando hayan cumplido todo lo que se les mandó, digan: ‘No somos más que siervos; sólo hemos hecho lo que teníamos que hacer’ ”.

who has just come in from plowing or tending sheep in the field,

You may eat and drink when I am finished’?
Is he grateful to that servant because he did what was commanded?
So should it be with you.
When you have done all you have been commanded, say,
‘We are unprofitable servants;
we have done what we were obliged to do.’”

Meditacion:

Vamos a mirar este Evangelio desde otra perspectiva. Dice Jesús que el siervo no merece gratificación. Cierta. Pero es que el mismo trabajo que hace el siervo ya es su gratificación. Los que estamos en este camino de elevacion, los que nos sabemos hijos e hijas de Dios, los que trabajamos fomentando la concordia, la fraternidad, la justicia, la misericordia, la comprensión, el perdón, tenemos nuestra gratificación en ese mismo trabajo. Porque ¿qué más compensación queremos que encontrar la mano del hermano y su rostro que nos mira con un gracias en sus ojos? ¿Qué más gratificación queremos que encontrarnos con la mano que nos ayuda y nos invita a levantarnos cuando estamos caídos?

      Nosotros, fieles cristianos, somos como esos carpinteros o albañiles  que están felices de trabajar en lo suyo, que les encanta hacer las cosas bien por pura satisfacción personal. Nosotros tenemos la inmensa suerte de haber sido invitados y llamados por Dios para participar en su reino. ¿Hay mejor destino que ese? ¿Podemos pedir alguna gratificación adicional más allá de sentirnos amados y queridos por Dios? 

      Ahora podemos entender a Jesús cuando, una vez cansados del trabajo diario, nos invita a reconocer que "somos unos pobres siervos, hemos hecho lo que teníamos que hacer." No hay que decir más porque somos conscientes de que somos unos privilegiados. Y que nuestro trabajo no consiste más que en hacer, con nuestros actos y con nuestra vida, que el amor de Dios llegue a todos, que nuestros privilegio lo conozcan y lo compartan todos. Como decia San Francisco de Asis "cuida tus actos porque puede ser el unico evangelio que otra persona lea hoy"

We are going to look at this Gospel from another perspective. Jesus says that the servant does not deserve gratification. True But it is that the very work that the servant does is already his gratification. Those of us who are on this path of elevation, those of us who know ourselves to be sons and daughters of God, those of us who work promoting harmony, fraternity, justice, mercy, understanding, forgiveness, we have our gratification in that same work. Because what more compensation do we want than to find the brother's hand and his face that looks at us with a thank you in his eyes? What more gratification do we want than to find the hand that helps us and invites us to get up when we are down?

      We, faithful Christians, are like those carpenters or bricklayers who are happy to work on their own, who love to do things well out of pure personal satisfaction. We are extremely lucky to have been invited and called by God to participate in his kingdom. Is there a better destination than that? Can we ask for any additional gratification beyond feeling loved and wanted by God?

      Now we can understand Jesus when, once tired of daily work, he invites us to recognize that "we are poor servants, we have done what we had to do." There is no need to say more because we are aware that we are privileged. And that our work does not consist more than in making, with our actions and with our lives, that the love of God reaches all, that our privilege is known and shared by all. As Saint Francis of Assisi said "take care of your actions because it may be the only gospel that another person reads today"

El Templo

Jn 2, 13-22

Cuando se acercaba la Pascua de los judíos, Jesús llegó a Jerusalén y encontró en el templo a los vendedores de bueyes, ovejas y palomas, y a los cambistas con sus mesas. Entonces hizo un látigo de cordeles y los echó del templo, con todo y sus ovejas y bueyes; a los cambistas les volcó las mesas y les tiró al suelo las monedas; y a los que vendían palomas les dijo: “Quiten todo de aquí y no conviertan en un mercado la casa de mi Padre”.

En ese momento, sus discípulos se acordaron de lo que estaba escrito: El celo de tu casa me devora.

Después intervinieron los judíos para preguntarle: “¿Qué señal nos das de que tienes autoridad para actuar así?” Jesús les respondió: “Destruyan este templo y en tres días lo reconstruiré”. Replicaron los judíos: “Cuarenta y seis años se ha llevado la construcción del templo, ¿y tú lo vas a levantar en tres días?”

Pero él hablaba del templo de su cuerpo. Por eso, cuando resucitó Jesús de entre los muertos, se acordaron sus discípulos de que había dicho aquello y creyeron en la Escritura y en las palabras que Jesús había dicho.

JN 2:13-22

Since the Passover of the Jews was near,
Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
He found in the temple area those who sold oxen, sheep, and doves,
as well as the money-changers seated there.
He made a whip out of cords
and drove them all out of the temple area, with the sheep and oxen,
and spilled the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables,
and to those who sold doves he said,
“Take these out of here, and stop making my Father’s house a marketplace.”
His disciples recalled the words of Scripture,
Zeal for your house will consume me.
At this the Jews answered and said to him,
“What sign can you show us for doing this?”
Jesus answered and said to them,
“Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up.”
The Jews said,
“This temple has been under construction for forty-six years,
and you will raise it up in three days?”
But he was speaking about the temple of his Body.
Therefore, when he was raised from the dead,
his disciples remembered that he had said this,
and they came to believe the Scripture
and the word Jesus had spoken.

Meditacion:

La Basílica de Letrán se encuentra en Roma, y su fiesta se celebra en toda la Iglesia pues es la sede del papa, el obispo de Roma. Considerada por mucho tiempo la iglesia madre para todos los católicos del mundo, tiene una historia algo convulsa. Construida alrededor de los años 311 a 314, fue saqueada en el año 455 y destruida en un terremoto en el 896. Fue reconstruida y luego se quemó dos veces. Sin embargo, sus mosaicos de cuatro siglos de antigüedad continúan intactos, y se le han añadido algunas cosas, como las impresionantes estatuas de los apóstoles.

Al igual que esta maravillosa estructura, la Iglesia ha atravesado sus propios “incendios” y “terremotos”: desacuerdos internos, ataques externos, tragedia y también escándalos. Pero a pesar de todas estas dificultades, la Iglesia continúa firme.

Por ejemplo, en los primeros días, la Iglesia parecía resquebrajarse por la cuestión de la circuncisión de los cristianos gentiles. En la época medieval, la Iglesia sufrió mucho por los excesos de poder, títulos y política. Pero Dios suscitó una reforma en el siglo XIII cuando le dijo a San Francisco de Asís: “Ve y reconstruye mi casa, la cual, como ves, está en ruinas.” Francisco “reconstruyó” la Iglesia fundando una orden centrada en el corazón del mensaje evangélico y el servicio a los pobres.

La protección de Dios por su Iglesia ha sido visible en todas las épocas, incluso la nuestra. Hace poco más de cincuenta años, el Papa San Juan XXIII convocó el Concilio Vaticano Segundo, en el que la Iglesia reconoció que todos, incluidos los laicos, son iguales en dignidad y pueden servirla y procurar la santidad.

Si estás preocupado por el estado actual de la Iglesia, deposita tu fe en Dios, que nunca la ha abandonado, y, ¡nunca lo hará! Eso no significa que la Iglesia esté exenta de problemas y dificultades. Pero Dios puede usarlos para purificarla, sanarla y hacerla aún más hermosa. Dios es nuestro “refugio y fortaleza”, él permanece al lado de su Iglesia, y con nosotros, siempre.

The Lateran Basilica is located in Rome, and its feast is celebrated throughout the Church as it is the seat of the Pope, the Bishop of Rome. Long considered the mother church for all Catholics in the world, it has a somewhat troubled history. Built around 311 to 314, it was looted in 455 and destroyed in an earthquake in 896. It was rebuilt and then burned twice. However, its four-century-old mosaics are still intact, and some things have been added to it, such as the impressive statues of the apostles.

Like this marvelous structure, the Church has experienced its own "fires" and "earthquakes": internal disagreements, external attacks, tragedy, and scandals as well. But despite all these difficulties, the Church remains steadfast.

For example, in the early days, the Church seemed to crack over the issue of circumcision of Gentile Christians. But in AD 50, Church leaders met in Jerusalem and concluded that if God made “no difference” when he poured out his Holy Spirit, they shouldn't make it either (Acts 15: 9).

In medieval times, the Church suffered greatly from excesses of power, titles, and politics. But God brought about a reform in the thirteenth century when he told Saint Francis of Assisi: "Go and rebuild my house, which, as you see, is in ruins." Francis “rebuilt” the Church by founding an order centered on the heart of the evangelical message and service to the poor.

God's protection by his Church has been visible in all ages, including ours. Just over fifty years ago, Pope Saint John XXIII convened the Second Vatican Council, in which the Church recognized that all, including the laity, are equal in dignity and can serve her and seek holiness.

If you are concerned about the current state of the Church, put your faith in God, who has never abandoned it, and never will! This does not mean that the Church is exempt from problems and difficulties. But God can use them to purify her, heal her, and make her even more beautiful. God is our "refuge and strength", he remains at the side of his Church, and with us, always.

Lc 16, 9-15

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: “Con el dinero, tan lleno de injusticias, gánense amigos que, cuando ustedes mueran, los reciban en el cielo. El que es fiel en las cosas pequeñas, también es fiel en las grandes; y el que es infiel en las cosas pequeñas, también es infiel en las grandes. Si ustedes no son fieles administradores del dinero, tan lleno de injusticias, ¿quién les confiará los bienes verdaderos? Y si no han sido fieles en lo que no es de ustedes, ¿quién les confiará lo que sí es de ustedes?

No hay criado que pueda servir a dos amos, pues odiará a uno y amará al otro, o se apegará al primero y despreciará al segundo. En resumen, no pueden ustedes servir a Dios y al dinero’’.

Al oír todas estas cosas, los fariseos, que son amantes del dinero, se burlaban de Jesús. Pero él les dijo: “Ustedes pretenden pasar por justos delante de los hombres; pero Dios conoce sus corazones, y lo que es muy estimable para los hombres es detestable para Dios”.

Jesus said to his disciples:
“I tell you, make friends for yourselves with dishonest wealth,
so that when it fails, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings.
The person who is trustworthy in very small matters
is also trustworthy in great ones;
and the person who is dishonest in very small matters
is also dishonest in great ones.
If, therefore, you are not trustworthy with dishonest wealth,
who will trust you with true wealth?
If you are not trustworthy with what belongs to another,
who will give you what is yours?
No servant can serve two masters.
He will either hate one and love the other,
or be devoted to one and despise the other.
You cannot serve God and mammon.”

The Pharisees, who loved money,
heard all these things and sneered at him.
And he said to them,
“You justify yourselves in the sight of others,
but God knows your hearts;
for what is of human esteem is an abomination in the sight of God.”

Meditacion:

Si leemos estas palabras en el contexto del pasaje completo del Evangelio de hoy, podemos observar que Jesús considera el dinero como algo pequeño y eso puede ser difícil de aceptar. ¿Qué pasa con aquellos de nosotros que luchamos para hacer que el dinero alcance? ¿Significa esto que el Señor nos está diciendo que dejemos de obsesionarnos por mejorar nuestra situación financiera? Eso estaría bien para San Francisco de Asís, pero aquellos de nosotros que tenemos que ganar un salario necesitamos una visión un poco más enérgia.

Jesús pronunció estas palabras para todos, pero no está sugiriendo que hagamos un voto de pobreza; en cambio quiere que tengamos una mejor perspectiva del dinero y que veamos que en sí mismo, el dinero no es la peor cosa del mundo ni tampoco algo insignificante que pueda ser ignorado. Lo que nos está diciendo es que el dinero es simplemente secundario cuando se compara con nuestro propósito fundamental de dar gloria a Dios y ayudar a que otras personas conozcan a Cristo personalmente.

En un sentido práctico, esto significa que el dinero encaja en el cuadro completo de la vida cristiana. Como sucede con todo lo demás que Dios nos da, es algo que podemos utilizar como un medio para obtener un fin mayor. Al ser cuidadosos con los gastos y tener hábitos de ahorro, podemos usarlo como una herramienta para glorificar al Señor y somos más libres para hacer donaciones a organizaciones que construyen su Reino. Al mismo tiempo, nos cuidamos de la tentación de valorarlo demasiado, y no permitimos que se convierta en una trampa que nos aleje de Jesús.

Si en este momento estás atravesando un problema financiero, recuerda que Jesús está contigo y te quiere ayudar guiándote y alivianando tu ansiedad. Piensa en las muchas formas en que él te ha cuidado en el pasado, contémplalo en la cruz y recuerda el amor infinito que tiene por ti. Ten presente que él nunca te abandonará, permite que su paz llene tu corazón y no te preocupes por el mañana, el Señor Jesús estará a tu lado para ayudarte, así como lo está hoy.

“Señor, te pido sabiduría para administrar mis finanzas, libertad para no vivir con ansiedad y ayuda para dar generosamente a los necesitados.”

If we read these words in the context of today's entire Gospel passage, we can see that Jesus views money as small and that can be difficult to accept. What about those of us who struggle to make money reach? Does this mean that the Lord is telling us to stop obsessing over improving our financial situation? That would be fine for St. Francis of Assisi, but those of us who have to earn a salary need a little more energetic vision.

Jesus spoke these words to everyone, but he is not suggesting that we take a vow of poverty; instead he wants us to have a better perspective on money and to see that in itself, money is not the worst thing in the world, nor is it something insignificant that can be ignored. What he is telling us is that money is simply secondary when compared to our fundamental purpose of giving glory to God and helping other people know Christ personally.

In a practical sense, this means that money fits the whole picture of the Christian life. Like everything else God gives us, it is something we can use as a means to a greater end. By being careful with spending and having saving habits, we can use it as a tool to glorify the Lord and we are freer to make donations to organizations that build his Kingdom. At the same time, we guard against the temptation to value it too much, and we do not allow it to become a trap that leads us away from Jesus.

If at this moment you are going through a financial problem, remember that Jesus is with you and wants to help you by guiding you and alleviating your anxiety. Think of the many ways he has cared for you in the past, contemplate him on the cross and remember the infinite love he has for you. Keep in mind that he will never abandon you, allow his peace to fill your heart and do not worry about tomorrow, the Lord Jesus will be by your side to help you, just as he is today.

"Lord, I ask you for wisdom to manage my finances, freedom not to live with anxiety, and help to give generously to those in need."
