Vaso de perfume..

Jn 12, 1-11

Seis días antes de la Pascua, fue Jesús a Betania, donde vivía Lázaro, a quien había resucitado de entre los muertos. Allí le ofrecieron una cena; Marta servía y Lázaro era uno de los que estaban con él a la mesa. María tomó entonces una libra de perfume de nardo auténtico, muy costoso, le ungió a Jesús los pies con él y se los enjugó con su cabellera, y la casa se llenó con la fragancia del perfume.

Entonces Judas Iscariote, uno de los discípulos, el que iba a entregar a Jesús, exclamó: "¿Por qué no se ha vendido ese perfume en trescientos denarios para dárselos a los pobres?" Esto lo dijo, no porque le importaran los pobres, sino porque era ladrón, y como tenía a su cargo la bolsa, robaba lo que echaban en ella.

Entonces dijo Jesús: "Déjala. Esto lo tenía guardado para el día de mi sepultura; porque a los pobres los tendrán siempre con ustedes, pero a mí no siempre me tendrán".

Mientras tanto, la multitud de judíos, que se enteró de que Jesús estaba allí, acudió, no sólo por Jesús, sino también para ver a Lázaro, a quien el Señor había resucitado de entre los muertos. Los sumos sacerdotes deliberaban para matar a Lázaro, porque a causa de él, muchos judíos se separaban y creían en Jesús.

GospelJN 12:1-11

Six days before Passover Jesus came to Bethany,
where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead.
They gave a dinner for him there, and Martha served,
while Lazarus was one of those reclining at table with him. 
Mary took a liter of costly perfumed oil
made from genuine aromatic nard
and anointed the feet of Jesus and dried them with her hair;
the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil. 
Then Judas the Iscariot, one of his disciples,
and the one who would betray him, said,
"Why was this oil not sold for three hundred days' wages
and given to the poor?"
He said this not because he cared about the poor
but because he was a thief and held the money bag
and used to steal the contributions.
So Jesus said, "Leave her alone.
Let her keep this for the day of my burial.
You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me."

The large crowd of the Jews found out that he was there and came,
not only because of him, but also to see Lazarus,
whom he had raised from the dead.
And the chief priests plotted to kill Lazarus too,
because many of the Jews were turning away
and believing in Jesus because of him.

Meditacion:

Hoy lunes santo nos encontramos con una lectura donde vemos claramente la humanidad, nuestras actitudes tan humanas y tan pobres espiritualmente cuando las comparamos con Jesus.

Maria se siente feliz con Jesus, su espiritu canta con su Senor y lo demuestra de la misma manera que lo haria con alguien a quien ama mucho, con gestos de intimidad y amor.

Y en Judas vemos la mirada puramente humana, de aquel que solo quiere sacar ventaja de todo, usar a todo mundo, asegurarse primero su lugar y despues lo de los demas.. tristisimo su papel, reclamando por un honor que no le correspondia.

Y Jesus dice una de aquellas frases para recordar siempre: Déjala. Esto lo tenía guardado para el día de mi sepultura; porque a los pobres los tendrán siempre con ustedes, pero a mí no siempre me tendrán".  Y es cierto, a Jesus a veces lo tenemos, a veces lo perdemos de vista entre nuestras obligaciones y pecados diarios.

Y hacia el final, nuevamente la humanidad con su morbo de "ir a ver el resucitado".. lo diferente nos produce o rechazo (como vemos en los fariseos) o curiosidad y fascinacion. 

Pero entre todos estos hechos tan vulgarmente humano, nuevamente Jesus poniendo blanco sobre negro. Dejemos hoy que Jesus prevalezca, que nuestro altruismo florezca; entreguemos a Jesus el vaso de perfume de una vida profundamente cristiana. Amen

Today, Holy Monday, we find a reading where we clearly see humanity, our attitudes so human and so poor spiritually when we compare them with Jesus.

Maria feels happy with Jesus, her spirit sings with her Lord and demonstrates it in the same way she would with someone she loves very much, with gestures of intimacy and love.

And in Judas we see the purely human gaze, of the one who only wants to take advantage of everything, to use everyone, first to secure his place and then the rest of the others ... sadly his role, claiming for an honor that did not correspond to him.

And Jesus says one of those phrases to always remember: Leave it. This I had kept for the day of my burial; because the poor will always be with you, but they will not always have me. "And it is true, we sometimes have Jesus, sometimes we lose sight of him among our daily obligations and sins.

And towards the end, humanity again with its morbid "go to see the resurrected" .. the different produces us or rejection (as we see in the Pharisees) or curiosity and fascination.

But among all these facts so vulgarly human, again Jesus putting white on black. Let today let Jesus prevail, let our altruism flourish; let us give Jesus the glass of perfume of a profoundly Christian life. Amen

Un Santo entre nosotros...

Jn 11, 45-56

En aquel tiempo, muchos de los judíos que habían ido a casa de Marta y María, al ver que Jesús había resucitado a Lázaro, creyeron en él. Pero algunos de entre ellos fueron a ver a los fariseos y les contaron lo que había hecho Jesús.

Entonces los sumos sacerdotes y los fariseos convocaron al sanedrín y decían: "¿Qué será bueno hacer? Ese hombre está haciendo muchos prodigios. Si lo dejamos seguir así, todos van a creer en él, van a venir los romanos y destruirán nuestro templo y nuestra nación".

Pero uno de ellos, llamado Caifás, que era sumo sacerdote aquel año, les dijo: "Ustedes no saben nada. No comprenden que conviene que un solo hombre muera por el pueblo y no que toda la nación perezca". Sin embargo, esto no lo dijo por sí mismo, sino que, siendo sumo sacerdote aquel año, profetizó que Jesús iba a morir por la nación, y no sólo por la nación, sino también para congregar en la unidad a los hijos de Dios, que estaban dispersos. Por lo tanto, desde aquel día tomaron la decisión de matarlo.

Por esta razón, Jesús ya no andaba públicamente entre los judíos, sino que se retiró a la ciudad de Efraín, en la región contigua al desierto y allí se quedó con sus discípulos.

Se acercaba la Pascua de los judíos y muchos de las regiones circunvecinas llegaron a Jerusalén antes de la Pascua, para purificarse. Buscaban a Jesús en el templo y se decían unos a otros: "¿Qué pasará? ¿No irá a venir para la fiesta?"

GospelJN 11:45-56

Many of the Jews who had come to Mary
and seen what Jesus had done began to believe in him.
But some of them went to the Pharisees
and told them what Jesus had done. 
So the chief priests and the Pharisees
convened the Sanhedrin and said,
"What are we going to do? 
This man is performing many signs.
If we leave him alone, all will believe in him,
and the Romans will come
and take away both our land and our nation."
But one of them, Caiaphas,
who was high priest that year, said to them,
"You know nothing,
nor do you consider that it is better for you
that one man should die instead of the people,
so that the whole nation may not perish."
He did not say this on his own,
but since he was high priest for that year,
he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the nation,
and not only for the nation,
but also to gather into one the dispersed children of God.
So from that day on they planned to kill him.

So Jesus no longer walked about in public among the Jews,
but he left for the region near the desert,
to a town called Ephraim,
and there he remained with his disciples.

Now the Passover of the Jews was near,
and many went up from the country to Jerusalem
before Passover to purify themselves.
They looked for Jesus and said to one another
as they were in the temple area, "What do you think?
That he will not come to the feast?"

Meditacion:

"Y aquel día decidieron darle muerte". Caifás, Sumo sacerdote, preside el Sanedrín. Constatan que el pueblo sencillo sigue a Jesús por sus enseñanzas, por sus signos, por la coherencia de su vida, porque les ha quitado el miedo a Dios y a sus representantes. Y Caifás afirma:

"conviene que uno muera por el pueblo, que no perezca la nación entera".  Esta acusación hostil se convierte en profecía porque la muerte de Jesús es salvadora para todos los pueblos, también para Israel.

Hoy todo esto parece tan lejano... nos parece que seria imposible que alguien pensara que "eliminando" la persona, desapareceria el conocimiento.

Y particularmente hoy celebramos un nuevo santo que llevo adelante como nadie el sacrificio supremo de morir por sus hermanos. Y es un santo nuevo, particularmente, yo lo aprecio muchisimo porque nos ha ensenado a los consagrados el camino que deben seguir los pastores con su pueblo. Hoy se celebra San Oscar Arnulfo Romero, hecho santo hace unos dias nomas por el Papa Francisco, y asesinado el 24 de marzo de 1980, durante una misa y exactamente en el momento de la consagracion.

Romero tuvo como amigo a otro gran defensor de los pobres, el sacerdote jesuita Rutilio Grande, tambien asesinado por el mismo motivo.

Otros Caifas en El Salvador decidieron que ellos eran "una amenaza para el pueblo" y los eliminaron. Primero cayo Rutilio, mas tarde, el Arzobispo Romero.

Jesus previno a todos sus seguidores que serian perseguidos por sus ideas y ya vemos que aun hoy, la opcion por los pobres es un camino dificil que no muchas personas estan dispuestas a transitar.

No hace falta ser martires para entrar al Reino de los Cielos, pero, claramente, debemos ser santos.

Y como toda esta semana, hoy sabado, en la antepuerta de la semana santa les recuerdo no olvidar confesarse..

Y vivamos toda esta semana intensamente, dando vuelta nuestra vida para reflejar los principios de San Romero martir:

.- El amor a la Iglesia de Roma, demostrado por su lema episcopal, "tener una sola opinión con la Iglesia", una frase que tomó de los Ejercicios Espirituales de San Ignacio;

.- Una tendencia a hacer un examen de conciencia muy profundo.

.- Un énfasis en la piedad sincera.

.- Mortificación y penitencia a través de sus deberes,

.- Dirección espiritual; "ser uno con la Iglesia encarnada en este pueblo que necesita la liberación";

.- Entusiasmo por la oración contemplativa y encontrar a Dios en los demás;

.- Fidelidad a la voluntad de Dios;

.- Auto-ofrecimiento a Jesucristo

Amen

"And that day they decided to kill him." Caiaphas, High Priest, presides over the Sanhedrin. They note that the simple people follow Jesus because of his teachings, because of his signs, because of the coherence of his life, because he has taken away the fear of God and his representatives. And Caiaphas says:

"It is fitting that one should die for the people, that the whole nation not perish." This hostile accusation becomes a prophecy because the death of Jesus is a savior for all peoples, also for Israel.

Today all this seems so distant ... we think it would be impossible for someone to think that "eliminating" the person, knowledge would disappear.

And today, particularly, we celebrate a new saint who, as nobody else, carries out the supreme sacrifice of dying for his brothers. And it is a new saint, particularly, I appreciate it very much because it has taught us consecrated the way that the pastors should follow with their people. Today is celebrated San Oscar Arnulfo Romero, made holy a few days ago by Pope Francis, and killed on March 24, 1980, during a mass and exactly at the time of the consecration.

Romero had as his friend another great defender of the poor, the Jesuit priest Rutilio Grande, also murdered for the same reason.

Other Caifas in El Salvador decided that they were "a threat to the people" and eliminated them. First fell Rutilio, later, Archbishop Romero.

Jesus warned all his followers that they would be persecuted for their ideas and we see that even today, the option for the poor is a difficult path that not many people are willing to go through.

It does not take martyrs to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but, clearly, we must be holy.

And like all this week, today Saturday, in the forecourt of Holy Week I remind you not to forget to confess ...

And we live all this week intensely, turning our lives around to reflect the principles of San Romero martir:

.- The love of the Church of Rome, demonstrated by its episcopal motto, "to have only one opinion with the Church", a phrase that it took from the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius;

.- A tendency to make a very deep examination of conscience.

.- An emphasis on sincere piety.

.- Mortification and penance through their duties,

.- Spiritual direction; "be one with the Church incarnate in this town that needs liberation";

- Enthusiasm for contemplative prayer and finding God in others;

.- Fidelity to the will of God;

.- Self-offering to Jesus Christ

Zona de comfort

Jn 10, 31-42

En aquel tiempo, cuando Jesús terminó de hablar, los judíos cogieron piedras para apedrearlo. Jesús les dijo: "He realizado ante ustedes muchas obras buenas de parte del Padre, ¿por cuál de ellas me quieren apedrear?"

Le contestaron los judíos: "No te queremos apedrear por ninguna obra buena, sino por blasfemo, porque tú, no siendo más que un hombre, pretendes ser Dios". Jesús les replicó: "¿No está escrito en su ley: Yo les he dicho: Ustedes son dioses? Ahora bien, si ahí se llama dioses a quienes fue dirigida la palabra de Dios (y la Escritura no puede equivocarse), ¿cómo es que a mí, a quien el Padre consagró y envió al mundo, me llaman blasfemo porque he dicho: 'Soy Hijo de Dios'? Si no hago las obras de mi Padre, no me crean. Pero si las hago, aunque no me crean a mí, crean a las obras, para que puedan comprender que el Padre está en mí y yo en el Padre". Trataron entonces de apoderarse de él, pero se les escapó de las manos.

Luego regresó Jesús al otro lado del Jordán, al lugar donde Juan había bautizado en un principio y se quedó allí. Muchos acudieron a él y decían: "Juan no hizo ningún signo; pero todo lo que Juan decía de éste, era verdad". Y muchos creyeron en él allí.

GospelJN 10:31-42

The Jews picked up rocks to stone Jesus.
Jesus answered them, "I have shown you many good works from my Father.
For which of these are you trying to stone me?"
The Jews answered him,
"We are not stoning you for a good work but for blasphemy.
You, a man, are making yourself God."
Jesus answered them,
"Is it not written in your law, 'I said, 'You are gods"'? 
If it calls them gods to whom the word of God came,
and Scripture cannot be set aside,
can you say that the one
whom the Father has consecrated and sent into the world
blasphemes because I said, 'I am the Son of God'? 
If I do not perform my Father's works, do not believe me;
but if I perform them, even if you do not believe me,
believe the works, so that you may realize and understand
that the Father is in me and I am in the Father."
Then they tried again to arrest him;
but he escaped from their power.

He went back across the Jordan
to the place where John first baptized, and there he remained. 
Many came to him and said,
"John performed no sign,
but everything John said about this man was true."
And many there began to believe in him.

Meditacion:

Supongamos por un segundo que Jesus apareciera hoy en nuestras ciudades.. supongamos que camina por ellas, bendiciendo y curando enfermos... un drogadicto aqui, un ciego alla, un paralitico  que vuelve a caminar..

Como en tiempos lejanos, vuelve a rodearse de personas no muy eruditas, gente del pueblo, sencilla y que siente en su corazon el llamado de Dios.

Cuanto tiempo pasaria antes de que lo acusaran por ejercicio ilegal de la medicina? O por agitador social? tal vez terrorismo?

Anoche, de vuelta de una reunion en la noche leia este pasaje y sonreia... las personas no aceptan facilmente el abandono del amor de Dios.

Debemos tener todo bien medido para minimizar el riesgo de vivir, dejar nuestra vida en manos de Jesus es algo que nos parece riesgoso y peligroso porque nos sacara, inevitablemente, de esa "zona de comfort" que hemos creado alrededor donde nos sentimos seguros.

A los judios Jesus los saca de esa "zona de comfort" y les obliga a moverse y creer.. pero eligen no creer y, como veiamos ayer, reaccionan de una manera violenta ante aquello que les obliga a cuestionarse y cambiar.

"Si no hago las obras de mi Padre, no me creáis, pero si las hago, aunque no me creáis a mí, creed a las obras, para que comprendáis y sepáis que el Padre está en mí, y yo en el Padre» dice Jesus.. algo asi como "nada les conforma, todo les molesta".

Para comprender a Jesus hay que verlo a traves de las obras del Espiritu Santo, anteponer a mi vida diaria ese amor infinito de Dios, comprender que somos solo alumnos en el camino de la vida. Entonces, armados de esas gafas, la vida se comprende y se disfruta.

El próximo viernes ya es viernes santo y Jesus sera muerto y enterrado. Ya solo nos quedan estos últimos días de cuaresma para repensar el resto de nuestro ano. No perdamos tiempo, Dios mismo espera por nosotros. Amen

Suppose for a second that Jesus appeared today in our cities ... suppose he walks through them, blessing and healing the sick ... a drug addict here, a blind man there, a paralytic who walks again ..

As in distant times, he surrounds himself again with people who are not very erudite, people from the village, simple and who feel in his heart the call of God.

How much time would pass before he was charged for illegal exercise of medicine? Or by social agitator? Maybe terrorism?

Last night, back from a meeting at night I read this passage and smiled ... people do not easily accept the abandonment of God's love.

We must have everything well measured to minimize the risk of living, leaving our life in the hands of Jesus is something that we find risky and dangerous because it will take us, inevitably, out of that "comfort zone" that we have created around where we feel safe.

To the Jews, Jesus takes them out of that "comfort zone" and forces them to move and believe ... but they choose not to believe and, as we saw yesterday, they react in a violent way to what forces them to question and change.

"If I do not do the works of my Father, do not believe me, but if I do them, even if you do not believe me, believe the works, so that you may understand and know that the Father is in me, and I in the Father" Jesus .. something like "nothing makes them up, everything bothers them".

To understand Jesus, we must see him through the works of the Holy Spirit, put before my daily life that infinite love of God, understand that we are only students on the path of life. Then, armed with those glasses, life is understood and enjoyed.

Next Friday is already Holy Friday and Jesus will be dead and buried. Now we only have these last days of Lent to rethink the rest of our year. Let us not waste time, God himself waits for us. Amen

Vivir conociendo y bendiciendo

n 8, 51-59

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a los judíos: "Yo les aseguro: el que es fiel a mis palabras no morirá para siempre".

Los judíos le dijeron: "Ahora ya no nos cabe duda de que estás endemoniado. Porque Abraham murió y los profetas también murieron, y tú dices: 'El que es fiel a mis palabras no morirá para siempre'. ¿Acaso eres tú más que nuestro padre Abraham, el cual murió? Los profetas también murieron. ¿Quién pretendes ser tú?"

Contestó Jesús: "Si yo me glorificara a mí mismo, mi gloria no valdría nada. El que me glorifica es mi Padre, aquel de quien ustedes dicen: 'Es nuestro Dios', aunque no lo conocen. Yo, en cambio, sí lo conozco; y si dijera que no lo conozco, sería tan mentiroso como ustedes. Pero yo lo conozco y soy fiel a su palabra. Abraham, el padre de ustedes, se regocijaba con el pensamiento de verme; me vio y se alegró por ello".

Los judíos le replicaron: "No tienes ni cincuenta años, ¿y has visto a Abraham?" Les respondió Jesús: "Yo les aseguro que desde antes que naciera Abraham, Yo Soy".

Entonces recogieron piedras para arrojarlas, pero Jesús se ocultó y salió del templo.

GospelJN 8:51-59

Jesus said to the Jews:
"Amen, amen, I say to you,
whoever keeps my word will never see death." 
So the Jews said to him,
"Now we are sure that you are possessed.
Abraham died, as did the prophets, yet you say,
'Whoever keeps my word will never taste death.'
Are you greater than our father Abraham, who died? 
Or the prophets, who died?
Who do you make yourself out to be?" 
Jesus answered, "If I glorify myself, my glory is worth nothing;
but it is my Father who glorifies me,
of whom you say, 'He is our God.'
You do not know him, but I know him.
And if I should say that I do not know him,
I would be like you a liar.
But I do know him and I keep his word. 
Abraham your father rejoiced to see my day;
he saw it and was glad." 
So the Jews said to him,
"You are not yet fifty years old and you have seen Abraham?"
Jesus said to them, "Amen, amen, I say to you,
before Abraham came to be, I AM."
So they picked up stones to throw at him;
but Jesus hid and went out of the temple area.

Meditacion:

Bueno.. jueves ya, llueve sobre la bahia.. y encontramos esta lectura con tantas posibles interpretaciones.

Pero de todas ellas, hay una que es la que mas me interesa rescatar... la reaccion intempestiva de los judios ante Jesus y la verdad.

Jesus no miente, y cada dia que nos acercamos al domingo de ramos es mas claro y directo en sus dichos.

Pero cuando vivimos de una forma reactiva, reaccionando sin pensar, sin meditar y sin conocer mucho de Jesus, la primera respuesta siempre sera la misma: incredulidad, desconfianza, agresion a "lo diferente".

Los humanos en general tendemos a rechazar lo distinto. A veces lo hacemos de una manera mas sutil, alejandonos, a veces de una forma mas violenta pero nos cuesta muchisimo darnos un tiempo para conocer a lo distinto y aceptamos, en lineas generales, a los que se parecen en todo o algo a nosotros, somos animales muy gregarios en eso.

Para conocer a Jesus hay que detenerse, hay que escuchar, hay que hacer un parentesis en nuestras vidas, Jesus "no encaja" facilmente en nuestra vida diaria si nosotros no le hacemos espacio.

Y hacerle espacio es, sencillamente, tomar tiempo para estar con El, para orar, para trabajar por El.

Ayer escuchaba una frase muy linda que decia que no hay que buscar ser bendecidos sino ver cada dia a quien puedo bendecir... cada dia, al levantarnos, podemos ser la bendicion para alguien mas... 

Entonces esas acciones que yo hago por mis hermanos son mis bendiciones.

En esta madrugada lluviosa les dejo ese pensamiento... tomense tiempo para conocer a Jesus e invitarlo a compartir su vida.. y sean, mas que bendecidos, el que bendice, no se dejen ganar en generosidad porque solo lo que dan es lo que volvera.

Well .. Thursday, it's raining on the bay ... and we found this reading with so many possible interpretations.

But of all of them, there is one that is the one that interests me the most ... the untimely reaction of the Jews before Jesus and the truth.

Jesus does not lie, and every day that we approach the Palm Sunday is clearer and more direct in his sayings.

But when we live in a reactive way, reacting without thinking, without meditating and without knowing much about Jesus, the first answer will always be the same: disbelief, distrust, aggression against "the different".

Humans in general tend to reject what is different. Sometimes we do it in a more subtle way, moving away from us, sometimes in a more violent way but it is very difficult for us to give ourselves a time to get to know what is different and we accept, in general terms, those who are similar in everything or something to us, we are very gregarious animals in that.

To know Jesus we must stop, we must listen, we must make a parenthesis in our lives, Jesus "does not fit" easily in our daily life if we do not make room for him.

And making room for him is, simply, taking time to be with Him, to pray, to work for Him.

Yesterday I heard a very nice phrase that said that we should not seek to be blessed but see each day who can bless ... every day, when we get up, we can be the blessing for someone else ...

So those actions that I do for my brothers are my blessings.

In this rainy dawn I leave that thought ... take time to meet Jesus and invite him to share his life .. and be, more than blessed, who blesses, do not let yourselves win in generosity because only what they give is what they To return to.

Seamos santos...

Jn 8, 31-42

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a los que habían creído en él: "Si se mantienen fieles a mi palabra, serán verdaderamente discípulos míos, conocerán la verdad y la verdad los hará libres". Ellos replicaron: "Somos hijos de Abraham y nunca hemos sido esclavos de nadie. ¿Cómo dices tú: 'Serán libres'?"

Jesús les contestó: "Yo les aseguro que todo el que peca es un esclavo del pecado y el esclavo no se queda en la casa para siempre; el hijo sí se queda para siempre. Si el Hijo les da la libertad, serán realmente libres. Ya sé que son hijos de Abraham; sin embargo, tratan de matarme, porque no aceptan mis palabras. Yo hablo de lo que he visto en casa de mi Padre: ustedes hacen lo que han oído en casa de su padre".

Ellos le respondieron: "Nuestro padre es Abraham". Jesús les dijo: "Si fueran hijos de Abraham, harían las obras de Abraham. Pero tratan de matarme a mí, porque les he dicho la verdad que oí de Dios. Eso no lo hizo Abraham. Ustedes hacen las obras de su padre". Le respondieron: "Nosotros no somos hijos de prostitución. No tenemos más padre que a Dios".

Jesús les dijo entonces: "Si Dios fuera su Padre me amarían a mí, porque yo salí de Dios y vengo de Dios; no he venido por mi cuenta, sino enviado por él".

GospelJN 8:31-42

Jesus said to those Jews who believed in him,
"If you remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples,
and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
They answered him, "We are descendants of Abraham
and have never been enslaved to anyone. 
How can you say, 'You will become free'?"
Jesus answered them, "Amen, amen, I say to you,
everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin.
A slave does not remain in a household forever,
but a son always remains. 
So if the Son frees you, then you will truly be free.
I know that you are descendants of Abraham.
But you are trying to kill me,
because my word has no room among you. 
I tell you what I have seen in the Father's presence;
then do what you have heard from the Father."

They answered and said to him, "Our father is Abraham." 
Jesus said to them, "If you were Abraham's children,
you would be doing the works of Abraham. 
But now you are trying to kill me,
a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God;
Abraham did not do this.
You are doing the works of your father!"
So they said to him, "We were not born of fornication. 
We have one Father, God." 
Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me,
for I came from God and am here;
I did not come on my own, but he sent me."

Meditacion:

Hoy tenemos este evangelio potente, formidable, poderoso y muy claro de Jesus. Mientras lo leia, me acordaba de las palabras de San Alfonso de Ligorio que dijo una vez: “El pecado habitual y la oración no pueden coexistir. O dejamos de pecar o dejamos de orar.”

Clarito, verdad? El pecado y la oracion no pueden convivir. Y necesitamos de la oracion para poder pasar de una fe digamos.. infantil en la cual aceptamos a Jesus como el resucitado, el que va a manejar nuestra vida a una fe adulta que comprende que sin la ayuda de Jesus y la oracion, muy poco podra hacer.

Paremos por un segundo en este concepto porque es algo que debemos revisar una y mil veces.. se acuerdan que ayer hablabamos de vivir una vida extraordinaria? bueno.. este es el camino, dejar el pecado y, de la mano de la oracion (y sin miedo), aceptar los cambios que Cristo nos pedira para vivir un destino de gloria al cual hemos sido llamados.

Hay que confiar en Dios y sus designios, dejarse llevar, los signos estaran en nuestro camino y nada pasa por casualidad, sino mas bien, por causalidad.

Y dejar el pecado.. San Francisco de Sales compara a la persona que tiene “apego al pecado” con los israelitas que salieron de la esclavitud en Egipto, pero que añoraban sus comodidades mientras peregrinaban por el desierto. Ellos tuvieron que hacerse la misma pregunta que nos hacemos nosotros: ¿Realmente vale la pena volver a una vida de esclavitud por tener unos pocos momentos de satisfacción?

Somos pecadores y sin duda pecaremos hasta el ultimo de los dias pero trabajar conscientemente en nuestros errores nos acerca a la perfeccion y no quedarse en el "yo soy asi y ya no voy a cambiar.." tan comodo para todos.

La semana santa se acerca, hagamos un honesto examen de conciencia y ya no convivamos con el pecado otro ano mas.. usemos esta semana santa para plataforma de lanzamiento de nuestra propia santidad; en otras palabras amigas y amigos... los invito a todos a ser santos. Amen

St. Francis de Sales compares the person who has "attachment to sin" with the Israelites who came out of slavery in Egypt, but who longed for their comforts while they wandered through the desert. They had to ask themselves the same question that we ask ourselves: Is it really worth returning to a life of slavery for having a few moments of satisfaction?

We are sinners and without a doubt we will sin until the last of the days but consciously working on our mistakes brings us closer to perfection and not staying in the "I am like that and I will not change ..." so comfortable for everyone.

Holy week is approaching, let us make an honest examination of conscience and we no longer live with sin another year more ... let us use this holy week to launch our own holiness platform; in other words, friends ... I invite you all to be saints. Amen

Vidas extraordinarias

Jn 8, 21-30

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a los judíos: "Yo me voy y ustedes me buscarán, pero morirán en su pecado. A donde yo voy, ustedes no pueden venir". Dijeron entonces los judíos: "¿Estará pensando en suicidarse y por eso nos dice: 'A donde yo voy, ustedes no pueden venir'?" Pero Jesús añadió: "Ustedes son de aquí abajo y yo soy de allá arriba; ustedes son de este mundo, yo no soy de este mundo. Se lo acabo de decir: morirán en sus pecados, porque si no creen que Yo Soy, morirán en sus pecados".

Los judíos le preguntaron: "Entonces ¿quién eres tú?" Jesús les respondió: "Precisamente eso que les estoy diciendo. Mucho es lo que tengo que decir de ustedes y mucho que condenar. El que me ha enviado es veraz y lo que yo le he oído decir a él es lo que digo al mundo". Ellos no comprendieron que hablaba del Padre.

Jesús prosiguió: "Cuando hayan levantado al Hijo del hombre, entonces conocerán que Yo Soy y que no hago nada por mi cuenta; lo que el Padre me enseñó, eso digo. El que me envió está conmigo y no me ha dejado solo, porque yo hago siempre lo que a él le agrada". Después de decir estas palabras, muchos creyeron en él.

GospelJN 8:21-30

Jesus said to the Pharisees:
"I am going away and you will look for me,
but you will die in your sin.
Where I am going you cannot come."
So the Jews said,
"He is not going to kill himself, is he,
because he said, 'Where I am going you cannot come'?"
He said to them, "You belong to what is below,
I belong to what is above.
You belong to this world,
but I do not belong to this world.
That is why I told you that you will die in your sins.
For if you do not believe that I AM,
you will die in your sins."
So they said to him, "Who are you?"
Jesus said to them, "What I told you from the beginning.
I have much to say about you in condemnation.
But the one who sent me is true,
and what I heard from him I tell the world."
They did not realize that he was speaking to them of the Father.
So Jesus said to them,
"When you lift up the Son of Man,
then you will realize that I AM,
and that I do nothing on my own,
but I say only what the Father taught me.
The one who sent me is with me. 
He has not left me alone,
because I always do what is pleasing to him."
Because he spoke this way, many came to believe in him.

Meditacion:

«Vosotros sois de aquí abajo, yo soy de allá arriba: vosotros sois de este mundo, yo no soy de este mundo. Con razón os he dicho que moriréis en vuestros pecados: pues, si no creéis que Yo soy, moriréis en vuestros pecados»

Jesus nos dice claramente que mientras pongamos nuestra mirada en lo que nos rodea, en cosas pequenas y minimas, no superaremos el pecado y quedaremos en este nivel, nivel gallina nomas como siempre digo.

Pero si pones tu mirada y tu vida en la cruz, no como elemento de dolor y resignacion sino como simbolo y muestra de Su amor y Su compromiso por nosotros, podremos aprender en esta vida y completar nuestro destino.

Lo deciamos dias pasados.. vidas comunes en mano de Dios se convierten en vidas extraordinarias que inspiran, reflejan valores, ensenan y dan amor a su alrededor.

Cada uno de nosotros tiene ante si este dilema cada dia de su vida.. vidas comunes o la decision de vivir una vida extraordinaria de aprendizaje, amor y libertad.

"You are from here below, I am from above, you are of this world, I am not of this world. I have rightly told you that you will die in your sins: for, if you do not believe that I am, you will die in your sins. "

Jesus tells us clearly that as long as we look at what surrounds us, in small and minimal things, we will not overcome sin and we will remain at this level, chicken level just as I always say.

But if you put your eyes and your life on the cross, not as an element of pain and resignation but as a symbol and sign of His love and commitment for us, we can learn in this life and complete our destiny.

We said it last days .. common lives in the hand of God become extraordinary lives that inspire, reflect values, teach and give love to their surroundings.

Integridad

Mt 1, 16. 18-21. 24

Jacob engendró a José, el esposo de María, de la cual nació Jesús, llamado Cristo.

Cristo vino al mundo de la siguiente manera: Estando María, su madre, desposada con José y antes de que vivieran juntos, sucedió que ella, por obra del Espíritu Santo, estaba esperando un hijo. José, su esposo, que era hombre justo, no queriendo ponerla en evidencia, pensó dejarla en secreto.

Mientras pensaba en estas cosas, un ángel del Señor le dijo en sueños: "José, hijo de David, no dudes en recibir en tu casa a María, tu esposa, porque ella ha concebido por obra del Espíritu Santo. Dará a luz un hijo y tú le pondrás el nombre de Jesús, porque él salvará a su pueblo de sus pecados".

Cuando José despertó de aquel sueño, hizo lo que le había mandado el ángel del Señor.

GospelMT 1:16, 18-21, 24A

Jacob was the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary.
Of her was born Jesus who is called the Christ.

Now this is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about.
When his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph,
but before they lived together,
she was found with child through the Holy Spirit.
Joseph her husband, since he was a righteous man,
yet unwilling to expose her to shame,
decided to divorce her quietly.
Such was his intention when, behold,
the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said,
"Joseph, son of David,
do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home.
For it is through the Holy Spirit
that this child has been conceived in her.
She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus,
because he will save his people from their sins."
When Joseph awoke,
he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him
and took his wife into his home.

Meditacion:

En  el evangelio de hoy, festividad de San Jose, hay dos lecturas, la de Jesus perdido y hallado en el templo o la de la maternidad de Maria. Yo escogí la de la maternidad porque pienso revela mejor la enorme personalidad de San Jose.

Jose, carpintero, constructor, hombre prudente, nos dice la escritura que "era un hombre justo" que es la expresion usada para personas integras en los textos antiguos.

Una persona integra es aquella que hace siempre lo que debe hacer, independientemente de sus intereses.

San Jose tenia todas y cada una de las razones de su lado para repudiar a su novia, Maria... la ley estaba de su lado, las evidencias estaban a la vista.. no necesitaba mas.

Pero un angel viene y le dice que no lo haga y no solo eso.. que acoja al nino que Maria tenia en su vientre como propio porque sera el salvador del mundo.

Jose podria haber ignorado esto y, simplemente, repudiar a su novia..

Pero no lo hace, aun sin comprender del todo como, toma a Maria como esposa y a Jesus como su hijo.

Hace lo que debe hacer, sin mirar atras y sin tener en cuenta lo que a el le convenia.

Ser integro en el mundo actual es muy dificil a veces.. las personas han perdido su integridad para vivir simplemente, vidas comunes donde la norma es "haz lo que te conviene, incluso si eso afecta a otras personas".

Hoy en su dia miremos a San Jose y la poderosa simplicidad de sus decisiones, pidámosle que interceda ante su hijo para poder siempre y en cada ocasion, ser personas integras de corazon. Amen

He does what he has to do, without looking back and without taking into account what suits him.

Being integrated in today's world is very difficult sometimes ... people have lost their integrity to live simply, common lives where the norm is "do what is good for you, even if it affects other people".

Today in your day we look at San Jose and the powerful simplicity of its decisions, we ask that you intercede with your son to be able always and on every occasion, to be integral people of heart. Amen
