Muchos los llamados...

Mt 22, 1-14

En aquel tiempo, volvió Jesús a hablar en parábolas a los sumos sacerdotes y a los ancianos del pueblo, diciendo:

"El Reino de los cielos es semejante a un rey que preparó un banquete de bodas para su hijo. Mandó a sus criados que llamaran a los invitados, pero éstos no quisieron ir.

Envió de nuevo a otros criados que les dijeran: 'Tengo preparado el banquete; he hecho matar mis terneras y los otros animales gordos; todo está listo. Vengan a la boda'. Pero los invitados no hicieron caso. Uno se fue a su campo, otro a su negocio y los demás se les echaron encima a los criados, los insultaron y los mataron.

Entonces el rey se llenó de cólera y mandó sus tropas, que dieron muerte a aquellos asesinos y prendieron fuego a la ciudad.

Luego les dijo a sus criados: 'La boda está preparada; pero los que habían sido invitados no fueron dignos. Salgan, pues, a los cruces de los caminos y conviden al banquete de bodas a todos los que encuentren'. Los criados salieron a los caminos y reunieron a todos los que encontraron, malos y buenos, y la sala del banquete se llenó de convidados.

Cuando el rey entró a saludar a los convidados, vio entre ellos a un hombre que no iba vestido con traje de fiesta y le preguntó: 'Amigo, ¿cómo has entrado aquí sin traje de fiesta?' Aquel hombre se quedó callado. Entonces el rey dijo a los criados: 'Átenlo de pies y manos y arrójenlo fuera, a las tinieblas. Allí será el llanto y la desesperación'. Porque muchos son los llamados y pocos los escogidos".

GospelMT 22:1-14

Jesus again in reply spoke to the chief priests and the elders of the people in parables saying, 
"The Kingdom of heaven may be likened to a king
who gave a wedding feast for his son.
He dispatched his servants to summon the invited guests to the feast,
but they refused to come.
A second time he sent other servants, saying,
'Tell those invited: "Behold, I have prepared my banquet,
my calves and fattened cattle are killed,
and everything is ready; come to the feast."'
Some ignored the invitation and went away,
one to his farm, another to his business.
The rest laid hold of his servants,
mistreated them, and killed them.
The king was enraged and sent his troops,
destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.
Then the king said to his servants, 'The feast is ready,
but those who were invited were not worthy to come.
Go out, therefore, into the main roads
and invite to the feast whomever you find.'
The servants went out into the streets
and gathered all they found, bad and good alike,
and the hall was filled with guests.
But when the king came in to meet the guests
he saw a man there not dressed in a wedding garment.
He said to him, 'My friend, how is it
that you came in here without a wedding garment?'
But he was reduced to silence.
Then the king said to his attendants, 'Bind his hands and feet,
and cast him into the darkness outside,
where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.'
Many are invited, but few are chosen."

Meditacion:

Leido este evangelio asi, a las 4 de la madrugada, parece y suena hasta duro, con bastante violencia de ambas partes.

Por un lado, invitados que se niegan a ir a la fiesta que el Rey habia preparado...  igual que ahora nosotros unos se van a sus negocios, otros lo ignoran y otros, como lamentablemente esta pasando en algunas areas del mundo, directamente matan a sus enviados o los golpean.

Frente a esto el Rey hace un llamado nuevo: ya no llamen a los invitados, inviten a todo el mundo y el evangelio dice "buenos y malos" porque la accion salvifica de Dios es para todos en el mundo.

Y la gente viene de todas partes pero... muchos somos los llamados y pocos los escogidos... como es eso??

¿Por qué expulsó el rey al hombre que no estaba vestido adecuadamente?

Porque éste no consideró que la invitación era un gran honor y no se molestó en “revestirse del hombre nuevo, creado para ser semejante a Dios en verdadera justicia y santidad” (Efesios 4, 24). Los invitados, ataviados de gala para la boda, reconocieron que la magnificencia de la misericordia y el amor de Dios era la única fuente de fortaleza y esperanza para ellos, por eso se “revistieron” de la misericordia del Señor.

“Amado Señor Jesús, quiero recibir de corazón el don del amor y la gracia de Dios en la Eucaristía y aceptar de todo corazón tu invitación a participar en el banquete de las Bodas del Cordero al final de los tiempos.” Amen

Seamos primeros o ultimos pero seamos...

Mt 20, 1-16

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos esta parábola: "El Reino de los cielos es semejante a un propietario que, al amanecer, salió a contratar trabajadores para su viña. Después de quedar con ellos en pagarles un denario por día, los mandó a su viña. Salió otra vez a media mañana, vio a unos que estaban ociosos en la plaza y les dijo: 'Vayan también ustedes a mi viña y les pagaré lo que sea justo'. Salió de nuevo a medio día y a media tarde e hizo lo mismo.

Por último, salió también al caer la tarde y encontró todavía a otros que estaban en la plaza y les dijo: '¿Por qué han estado aquí todo el día sin trabajar?' Ellos le respondieron: 'Porque nadie nos ha contratado'. El les dijo: 'Vayan también ustedes a mi viña'.

Al atardecer, el dueño de la viña le dijo a su administrador: 'Llama a los trabajadores y págales su jornal, comenzando por los últimos hasta que llegues a los primeros'. Se acercaron, pues, los que habían llegado al caer la tarde y recibieron un denario cada uno.

Cuando les llegó su turno a los primeros, creyeron que recibirían más; pero también ellos recibieron un denario cada uno. Al recibirlo, comenzaron a reclamarle al propietario, diciéndole: 'Esos que llegaron al último sólo trabajaron una hora, y sin embargo, les pagas lo mismo que a nosotros, que soportamos el peso del día y del calor'.

Pero él respondió a uno de ellos: 'Amigo, yo no te hago ninguna injusticia. ¿Acaso no quedamos en que te pagaría un denario? Toma, pues, lo tuyo y vete. Yo quiero darle al que llegó al último lo mismo que a ti. ¿Qué no puedo hacer con lo mío lo que yo quiero? ¿O vas a tenerme rencor porque yo soy bueno?'

De igual manera, los últimos serán los primeros, y los primeros, los últimos''.

Jesus told his disciples this parable:

who went out at dawn to hire laborers for his vineyard.

beginning with the last and ending with the first.'
When those who had started about five o'clock came,
each received the usual daily wage.
So when the first came, they thought that they would receive more,

And on receiving it they grumbled against the landowner, saying,
'These last ones worked only one hour,
and you have made them equal to us,
who bore the day's burden and the heat.'

Meditacion:

Cuando yo estudiaba teologia me tope con un autor aleman muy poco conocido que describia el proceso por el cual las almas se santificaban. Luego de un elaborado proceso donde explicaba como el pecado nos situaba en una posicion de antagonismo con el amor de Dios, como los conceptos de purgatorio estaban claramente equivocados en la cosmogonia religiosa catolica y mil conceptos mas, casi al final, el autor incluia una frase que despues encontra muchas veces en los tratados de este tipo "todo puede ser dicho y descripto pero la misericordia de Dios hace que a veces este proceso almico sea diferente:."

O sea que muchas veces el amor de Dios se "saltara las barreras" para ir en busqueda de un alma perdida, pasara por sobre lo que nosotros pensamos que "debe ser de esta manera" y no... de aquel ultimo pecador que hasta nosotros como clerigos nos damos por vencidos. Dios puede sacar un santo si el alma asi lo quiere.

Lo he visto muchas veces..  incluso hoy mismo tengo el privilegio de ser el asesor espiritual de algunas personas que han sido adictas en el pasado, que han pasado por experiencias muy duras y hoy son los mejores catequistas, los mejores padres que conozco.

Pero nosotros, en nuestra eterna necia humanidad, nos atrevemos a cuestionar a Dios y quererle "marcar la cancha" sobre quien puede salvarse y quien no. Y de eso se trata el evangelio de hoy, de nosotros diciendole a Dios que merecemos un mejor trato porque estuvimos desde el principio con El... cuanta necedad y soberbia nos llena a veces!!

 ¡Qué sabia es la Madre Iglesia cuando traduce las renuncias que acompañan el Bautismo y nos pregunta: “¿renunciáis a Satanás, esto es: a estar muy seguros de vosotros mismos, a consideraros ya convertidos del todo, a creeros superiores a los demás…?”!

Es tiempo de dejar a Dios ser Dios; de reconocer que Él sí puede hacer lo que le venga en “su real gana”. ¿O es que nos molesta que sea más generoso, desprendido y sensible que nosotros? Ay, ay, ay… Cuidado: en una situación parecida (Mt 16, 23), Jesús acabó llamando Satanás a Pedro: “¡Aléjate! Piensas como los hombres, no como Dios”.

Hoy en la festividad de Maria como Madre y Reina del Universo, pidamos humildad, aceptacion y sigamos haciendo el bien.. que de eso se trata todo esto. Amen

Camellos pasando por el ojo de una aguja

Mt 19, 23-30

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: "Yo les aseguro que un rico difícilmente entrará en el Reino de los cielos. Se lo repito: es más fácil que un camello pase por el ojo de una aguja, que un rico entre en el Reino de los cielos".

Al oír esto, los discípulos se quedaron asombrados y exclamaron: "Entonces ¿quién podrá salvarse?" Pero Jesús, mirándolos fijamente, les respondió: "Para los hombres eso es imposible, mas para Dios todo es posible".

Entonces Pedro, tomando la palabra, le dijo a Jesús: "Señor, nosotros lo hemos dejado todo y te hemos seguido, ¿qué nos va a tocar?" Jesús les dijo: "Yo les aseguro que en la vida nueva, cuando el Hijo del hombre se siente en su trono de gloria, ustedes, los que me han seguido, se sentarán también en doce tronos, para juzgar a las doce tribus de Israel.

Y todo aquel que por mí haya dejado casa, o hermanos o hermanas, o padre o madre, o esposa o hijos, o propiedades, recibirá cien veces más y heredará la vida eterna. Y muchos primeros serán últimos y muchos últimos, primeros''.

Meditacion:

Ayer leiamos sobre el joven rico que se entristecio cuando Jesus le dijo que vendiera todo y lo siguiera; hoy leemos lo que Jesus dijo cuando lo vio alejarse apesadumbrado.. "es mas facil que un camello pase por el ojo de una aguja que un rico entre al Reino de los Cielos..."

Ayer leia en el diario (y lo puse en facebook) un anciano en Argentina que entrego dinero en un transporte publico "porque lo hacia feliz" y en la nota que entregaba con el billete decia que contrariamente a los valores mas predominantes en el mundo como la avaricia, la forma mas adecuada de vivir era compartiendo.

Jesus habla de "los pobres de espiritu" como los unicos que entraran en el Reino de los Cielos y los pobres de espiritu no ser refiere a personas que viven de la caridad ajena en las calles... se refieren a personas que ya no necesitan nada para vivir sino el amor de Jesus.

Y es por eso que ayer les decia que, independientemente de nuestros bienes materiales, los que nos fueron dados para ayudar a otras personas en su elevacion, si no nos apegamos a ellos, estamos en el camino correcto.

Pero en estos tiempos en los que la pobreza y la injusticia siguen campando a sus anchas por muchas partes del mundo mientras en otras nadamos en lo que hemos llamado ‘la crisis’, hay que elogiar en voz alta a quienes se han arriesgado a crear empresas, mantienen con valentía puestos de trabajo, han renunciado a parte de su bienestar para compartir con otros, pelean por el bien común e intentan desempeñar su trabajo honestamente (¡incluso en la banca!). Hay un discurso panfletario que demoniza inmediatamente palabras como ‘empresario’, ‘dueño’, ‘banquero’ y no refrenda muchas veces su aparente profecía con una vida evangélicamente más coherente.

Palpémonos todos la ropa antes de levantar el dedo contra el prójimo. Confrontémonos con la Palabra de Dios y con su Espíritu; Él nos inspirará qué hemos de hacer.

“Señor, Salvador mío, ven y purifica mi corazón de todo apego a lo terrenal. Envía tu Espíritu Santo para que tu amor arda en mi corazón y yo ame a Dios por sobre todas las cosas.” Amen

Lo material

Mt 19, 16-22

En aquel tiempo, se acercó a Jesús un joven y le preguntó: "Maestro, ¿qué cosas buenas tengo que hacer para conseguir la vida eterna?" Le respondió Jesús: "¿Por qué me preguntas a mí acerca de lo bueno? Uno solo es el bueno: Dios. Pero, si quieres entrar en la vida, cumple los mandamientos". El replicó: "¿Cuáles?"

Jesús le dijo: No matarás, no cometerás adulterio, no robarás, no levantarás falso testimonio, honra a tu padre y a tu madre, ama a tu prójimo como a ti mismo.

Le dijo entonces el joven: "Todo eso lo he cumplido desde mi niñez, ¿qué más me falta?" Jesús le dijo: "Si quieres ser perfecto, ve a vender todo lo que tienes, dales el dinero a los pobres, y tendrás un tesoro en el cielo; luego ven y sígueme". Al oír estas palabras, el joven se fue entristecido, porque era muy rico.

Ayer estaba en una reunion misionera cuando escuche una conversacion entre dos miembros; uno le decia al otro que tenia un importante titulo universitario, ganaba muy bien y aun asi, seguia con su obra misionera. y el otro le contestaba que siempre habia pensado que no se podia "ser rico y seguir a Jesus"

Pues les comento que no tiene nada que ver una cosa con la otra. Los bienes materiales nos son dados para ser utilizados en beneficio de nuestra propia santidad y la de los demas.

Por siglos la Iglesia ha asociado la idea de la santidad a un desprendimiento total de lo material. Lo hizo San Francisco de Asis, llamando a un total ascetismo por ejemplo y tanto otros.

Pero Dios nos da lo que necesitamos para completar nuestra mision en la tierra, no es lo material lo que nos condena sino el buscar infatigablemente solo eso, dejando de lado lo espiritual.

Ha habido en la historia de la Iglesia incluso reyes que fueron santos como Esteban 1 de Hungria, Margarita de Escocia y tantos otros.

Lo material no es obstaculo para la santidad. El uso que damos a lo material si nos puede alejar e incluso. cerrarnos las puertas del Reino de los Cielos.

Y el pecado de avaricia no solo es propiedad de personas adineradas. se puede ser un mendigo y ser avaro o apegado a las cosas materiales.

Entonces amigos en preparacion al evangelio de manana en el que Jesus nos dira que para un rico es muy complicada la salvacion, cambiemos nuestra mirada y dejemos de ver a las personas como "ricas y pobres" solo por lo que tienen y comencemos a ver a todos como lo que son: almas en busqueda de la verdad y la santidad. Amen

Mt 19, 13-15

En aquel tiempo, le presentaron unos niños a Jesús para que les impusiera las manos y orase por ellos. Los discípulos regañaron a la gente; pero Jesús les dijo: "Dejen a los niños y no les impidan que se acerquen a mí, porque de los que son como ellos es el Reino de los cielos". Después les impuso las manos y continuó su camino.

Meditacion;

Jesus nos deja algo para pensar hoy dia... si no somos como ninos, no entraremos al Reino de los Cielos..

La inocencia y la falta de prejuicios es lo que necesitamos aprender de los ninos.. ellos no ven nada malo en otra persona, se acercan siempre con buena voluntad, buscan companeros que les ayuden a hacer algo, comparten lo que tienen y no fijan en raza o sexo para jugar.

Y educarlos en la fe.. un nino es nuestra responsabilidad para educarlo e introducirlo en la fe catolica cada dia.

Pero en lugar de imponerles la “religión”, hemos de pedirle al Señor que nos enseñe a conquistarles el corazón para que se entreguen a Dios, porque cada niño es una obra especial de sus manos; cada uno de ellos le pertenece a él más que a nosotros. Mediante la oración y el ejemplo, nuestros hijos llegarán a desear la vida de Cristo. Así que disfruta de tus hijos mientras los tengas a tu alcance, pero no les consientas todos sus caprichos. ¡Edúcalos como para el Señor!

“Padre eterno, concédenos la sabiduría necesaria para llevarlos a tu Hijo Jesús. Envíanos al Espíritu Santo para que purifique nuestras motivaciones, de modo que seamos un testimonio eficaz para los hijos que tú nos has confiado.” Amen

Jesus leaves us something to think about today ... if we are not like children, we will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven ..

Innocence and lack of prejudice is what we need to learn from children ... they do not see anything bad in another person, they always approach with good will, they look for partners that help them to do something, they share what they have and they do not fix on race or sex to play.

And educate them in faith ... a child is our responsibility to educate and introduce him into the Catholic faith every day.

But instead of imposing "religion" on them, we must ask the Lord to teach us to win their hearts so that they give themselves to God, because each child is a special work of their hands; each of them belongs to him more than to us. Through prayer and example, our children will come to desire the life of Christ. So enjoy your children while you have them at your fingertips, but do not let them indulge your every whim. Educate them as for the Lord!

"Eternal Father, grant us the necessary wisdom to take you to your Son Jesus. Send us to the Holy Spirit to purify our motivations, so that we may be an effective witness for the children you have entrusted to us. "Amen

Matrimonio & divorcio

Mt 19, 3-12

En aquel tiempo, se acercaron a Jesús unos fariseos y le preguntaron, para ponerle una trampa: "¿Le está permitido al hombre divorciarse de su esposa por cualquier motivo?"

Jesús les respondió: "¿No han leído que el Creador, desde un principio los hizo hombre y mujer, y dijo: 'Por eso el hombre dejará a su padre y a su madre, para unirse a su mujer, y serán los dos una sola cosa?' De modo que ya no son dos, sino una sola cosa. Así pues, lo que Dios ha unido, que no lo separe el hombre".

Pero ellos replicaron: "Entonces ¿por qué ordenó Moisés que el esposo le diera a la mujer un acta de separación, cuando se divorcia de ella?"

Jesús les contestó: "Por la dureza de su corazón, Moisés les permitió divorciarse de sus esposas; pero al principio no fue así. Y yo les declaro que quienquiera que se divorcie de su esposa, salvo el caso de que vivan en unión ilegítima, y se case con otra, comete adulterio; y el que se case con la divorciada, también comete adulterio".

Entonces le dijeron sus discípulos: "Si ésa es la situación del hombre con respecto a su mujer, no conviene casarse". Pero Jesús les dijo: "No todos comprenden esta enseñanza, sino sólo aquellos a quienes se les ha concedido. Pues hay hombres que, desde su nacimiento, son incapaces para el matrimonio; otros han sido mutilados por los hombres, y hay otros que han renunciado al matrimonio por el Reino de los cielos. Que lo comprenda aquel que pueda comprenderlo".

GospelMT 19:3-12

Some Pharisees approached Jesus, and tested him, saying,
"Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any cause whatever?"
He said in reply, "Have you not read that from the beginning
the Creator made them male and female and said,
For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother
and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh?
So they are no longer two, but one flesh.
Therefore, what God has joined together, man must not separate." 
They said to him, "Then why did Moses command
that the man give the woman a bill of divorce and dismiss her?"
He said to them, "Because of the hardness of your hearts
Moses allowed you to divorce your wives,
but from the beginning it was not so.
I say to you, whoever divorces his wife
(unless the marriage is unlawful)
and marries another commits adultery."
His disciples said to him,
"If that is the case of a man with his wife,
it is better not to marry."
He answered, "Not all can accept this word,
but only those to whom that is granted.
Some are incapable of marriage because they were born so;
some, because they were made so by others;
some, because they have renounced marriage
for the sake of the Kingdom of heaven.
Whoever can accept this ought to accept it."

Meditacion:

Para el evangelio de hoy, leemos de "La palabra entre nosotros"

El matrimonio es una alianza material y espiritual entre un hombre y una mujer que prometen, ante Dios, la Iglesia y sus familiares y amigos, amarse, respetarse y ser fieles toda la vida en cualquier circunstancia.

Por eso, es sumamente triste ver que, en la sociedad actual, cerca de la mitad de los matrimonios terminen en divorcio.

Uno de los problemas principales es que, muchas veces, los novios son inmaduros y se casan por razones incorrectas. Las novias buscan amor, protección y seguridad; los novios esperan intimidad, y atención a sus necesidades. Es decir, están enfocados más en lo que puedan obtener que en lo que puedan dar. Pero lo principal es que el amor sea del tipo ágape, el amor de Dios: generoso y sacrificado.

Lamentablemente, el valor de la vida espiritual y el amor de Dios, que es la dimensión más trascendente de la vida conyugal, está ausente en demasiados matrimonios. Los sucesos del diario vivir demuestran claramente que cuando uno o ambos esposos no tienen una relación personal y fundamental con Cristo, todas las demás relaciones quedan supeditadas a las fuerzas destructivas de nuestra propia imperfección humana y de la sociedad en general.

Pero nuestro Padre ama tanto a sus hijos que no deja jamás de ofrecernos su gracia y ayuda a los esposos para cumplir sus votos conyugales, no por obligación, sino por amor y voluntariamente. Pero ¿cómo puede uno beneficiarse de esta gracia si vive constantemente sin tomar en cuenta a Dios? El Sacramento del Matrimonio crea un poderoso vínculo que une y fortalece la vida espiritual de los contrayentes. Cada día las parejas casadas tienen a su alcance la gracia divina para superar las diferencias, amarse y perdonarse sincera y profundamente y resolver las dificultades antes de que se conviertan en barreras insuperables.

Actualmente hay muchos católicos que se han divorciado y vuelto a casar sólo por lo civil y así se han privado de la gracia sacramental del matrimonio religioso. ¿Qué pueden hacer? Consulten con el sacerdote para ver si pueden iniciar el proceso de declaración de nulidad del matrimonio religioso y tal vez puedan regularizar su situación sacramental y, de paso, recibir la gracia de la Confesión y la Santa Comunión.

“Amado Señor Jesucristo, ayúdanos a mí y a mi esposa (o marido) a descubrir de nuevo el amor verdadero y una nueva ilusión en la vida matrimonial, para amarnos y servirnos mutuamente mientras vamos caminando hacia el cielo.”

For today's gospel, we read of "The word among us"

Marriage is a material and spiritual covenant between a man and a woman who promise, before God, the Church and their family and friends, to love, respect and be faithful throughout their lives in any circumstance.

Therefore, it is extremely sad to see that, in today's society, about half of all marriages end in divorce.

One of the main problems is that, many times, the couple are immature and get married for incorrect reasons. Brides seek love, protection and security; the couple expect intimacy, and attention to their needs. That is, they are focused more on what they can get than on what they can give. But the main thing is that the love is of the agape type, the love of God: generous and sacrificed.

Unfortunately, the value of the spiritual life and love of God, which is the most transcendent dimension of conjugal life, is absent in too many marriages. The events of daily living clearly demonstrate that when one or both spouses do not have a personal and fundamental relationship with Christ, all other relationships are subordinated to the destructive forces of our own human imperfection and of society in general.

But our Father loves his children so much that he never fails to offer us his grace and helps husbands to fulfill their conjugal vows, not out of obligation, but out of love and voluntarily. But how can one benefit from this grace if he lives constantly without taking God into account? The Sacrament of Marriage creates a powerful bond that unites and strengthens the spiritual life of the spouses. Every day married couples have divine grace at their fingertips to overcome differences, love and forgive themselves sincerely and deeply and resolve difficulties before they become insurmountable barriers.

Currently there are many Catholics who have divorced and remarried only civilly and thus have been deprived of the sacramental grace of religious marriage. What can they do? Consult with the priest to see if they can initiate the process of declaration of nullity of the religious marriage and perhaps they can regularize their sacramental situation and, incidentally, receive the grace of Confession and Holy Communion.

"Beloved Lord Jesus Christ, help me and my wife (or husband) to rediscover true love and a new illusion in married life, to love and serve each other as we walk toward heaven."
