Quien piensan que soy?

Mt 16, 13-19

En aquel tiempo, cuando llegó Jesús a la región de Cesarea de Filipo, hizo esta pregunta a sus discípulos: “¿Quién dice la gente que es el Hijo del hombre?” Ellos le respondieron: “Unos dicen que eres Juan el Bautista; otros, que Elías; otros, que Jeremías o alguno de los profetas”.

Luego les preguntó: “Y ustedes, ¿quién dicen que soy yo?” Simón Pedro tomó la palabra y le dijo: “Tú eres el Mesías, el Hijo de Dios vivo”. Jesús le dijo entonces: “¡Dichoso tú, Simón, hijo de Juan, porque esto no te lo ha revelado ningún hombre, sino mi Padre que está en los cielos! Meditacion:

La experiencia de la fe, el encuentro y trato con el Señor nos lleva a la confesión. Claramente.

Hay un dinamismo interior que parte del regalo que ha supuesto haber sido llamados, elegidos, nombrados por el Maestro y que va llenando los huecos del corazón hasta desbordarse para brotar en los labios como confesión sentida.

La Palabra hoy nos acerca a la confesión de Pedro. Ese discípulo de la primera hora al que el Señor envuelve con una bienaventuranza especial: “dichoso tú, Simón”. Ese discípulo, generoso y torpe a la vez; entusiasta y cobarde al mismo tiempo; discípulo que ha sido agraciado con una intuición-revelación que es regalo del Padre: “eso no te lo ha revelado nadie de carne y hueso, sino mi Padre”.

La confesión de Pedro es el fruto de ese delicado engarce que hace el Espíritu del Señor en la realidad de nuestra humanidad limitada y pecadora, lenta a la gratuidad del don, torpe para llegar a el entendimiento de los “secretos” del Reino y para abrirse a la novedad.

En el itinerario de Pedro lo vemos plasmado y nos sentimos identificados. Siempre discípulos, siempre aprendices en la escuela del Maestro.

La confesión de Pedro es también estímulo para nosotros. En él, el Maestro estaba incluyéndonos; nombrándonos bienaventurados por haber sido alcanzados, atraídos por el Padre hacia Él. Confesar la filiación divina de Cristo viene tras un camino de profundización en la riqueza del ser de Jesús hasta identificarnos con él.

Hoy es un día precioso para agradecer al Señor la fe de aquel pescador de Galilea; para agradecer también nuestra fe, nuestro tesoro; para orar por Francisco, Obispo de Roma, para que siga confesando la fe, confirmándonos en ella y alentando nuestra confesión creyente. Amen

The experience of faith, meeting and dealing with the Lord leads us to confession. Clearly.

There is an inner dynamism that starts from the gift that has supposed to have been called, chosen, appointed by the Master and that fills the hollows of the heart until it overflows to sprout in the lips as a felt confession.

The Word today brings us closer to Peter's confession. That disciple of the first hour whom the Lord envelops with a special bliss: "Blessed are you, Simon." That disciple, generous and clumsy at the same time; enthusiastic and coward at the same time; disciple who has been graced with an intuition-revelation that is a gift from the Father: "that has not been revealed to you by anyone of flesh and blood, but by my Father."

Peter's confession is the fruit of that delicate crimp that the Spirit of the Lord makes in the reality of our limited and sinful humanity, slow to the gratuitousness of the gift, clumsy to arrive at the understanding of the "secrets" of the Kingdom and to open To novelty.

In Pedro's itinerary we see it embodied and we feel identified. Always disciples, always learners in the school of the Master.

Peter's confession is also a stimulus for us. In it, the Master was including us; naming ourselves blessed to have been reached, attracted by the Father to Him. Confessing the divine filiation of Christ comes after a path of deepening in the richness of Jesus' being until we identify with him.

Today is a precious day to thank the Lord for the faith of that fisherman from Galilee; to thank also our faith, our treasure; to pray for Francisco, Bishop of Rome, to continue confessing the faith, confirming ourselves in it and encouraging our believing confession. Amen

Cargue su cruz y sigame

Mc 8, 34–9, 1

En aquel tiempo, Jesús llamó a la multitud y a sus discípulos y les dijo: “El que quiera venir conmigo, que renuncie a sí mismo, que cargue con su cruz y que me siga. Pues el que quiera salvar su vida, la perderá; pero el que pierda su vida por mí y por el Evangelio, la salvará.

¿De qué le sirve a uno ganar el mundo entero, si pierde su vida? ¿Y qué podrá dar uno a cambio para recobrarla? Si alguien se avergüenza de mí y de mis palabras ante esta gente, idólatra y pecadora, también el Hijo del hombre se avergonzará de él, cuando venga con la gloria de su Padre, entre los santos ángeles”.

Y añadió: “Yo les aseguro que algunos de los aquí presentes no morirán sin haber visto primero que el Reino de Dios ha llegado ya con todo su poder”.

GospelMK 8:34–9:1

Jesus summoned the crowd with his disciples and said to them,
“Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself,
take up his cross, and follow me.
For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it,
but whoever loses his life for my sake
and that of the Gospel will save it.
What profit is there for one to gain the whole world
and forfeit his life?
What could one give in exchange for his life?
Whoever is ashamed of me and of my words
in this faithless and sinful generation,
the Son of Man will be ashamed of
when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.”

He also said to them,
“Amen, I say to you,
there are some standing here who will not taste death
until they see that the Kingdom of God has come in power.”

La verdad que Jesus no se anda con cosas chiquitas, el Maestro pide todo...

"Que cargue su cruz y me siga"... es un poderoso mensaje y una promesa eterna “Yo les aseguro que algunos de los aquí presentes no morirán sin haber visto primero que el Reino de Dios ha llegado ya con todo su poder”.

Ya la primera lectura nos interpela hoy dia "¿De qué le sirve a uno decir que tiene fe, si no la demuestra con obras? ¿Acaso podrá salvarlo esa fe?"

O sea amigos que esto es diciendo y haciendo, a Dios rogando pero con el mazo dando, aca no hay cosas a medias.

En realidad, Jesús no nos pide privarnos de muchas cosas. ¡No se trata de eso! Lo que quiere es que renunciemos a los impulsos desordenados y pecaminosos que tratan de dominarnos y que, en cambio, nos pongamos de corazón en manos de Dios, para que el Espíritu Santo nos ayude a llevar la vida nueva recibida en el Bautismo. El afán de autosuficiencia e independencia y la irresponsabilidad en lo que hacemos son actitudes que llevan a la infelicidad y al dolor. ¡Estas son las cosas a las que Jesús vino a darles muerte en nosotros!

Sí, en la cruz se pierde algo. ¿Qué cosa? La esclavitud del pecado. ¿Y qué ganamos? Una conciencia limpia, libertad de los hábitos de pecado, comunión con Dios y el descubrimiento de que somos hijos amados del Altísimo. Jesús nos invita a depositar nuestra autosuficiencia, egoísmo y hábitos de pecado a los pies de su cruz para recibir allí el poder del Espíritu Santo e iniciar una vida nueva. ¡De él viene la salud y la liberación! Hermano, ¿quieres tú ser libre y sano?

“Padre celestial, confío plenamente en la promesa de que, si estoy dispuesto a perder esta vida, ganaré la vida verdadera.” Amen

The truth is that Jesus does not go with little things, the Master asks for everything ...

"Let him carry his cross and follow me" ... is a powerful message and an eternal promise "I assure you that some of those present here will not die without first seeing that the Kingdom of God has arrived with all its power."

Already the first reading questions us today "What is the use of saying that one has faith, if one does not show it with works? Can that faith save him?"

That is friends that this is saying and doing, God begging but with the mallet giving, here there are no things halfway.

Actually, Jesus does not ask us to deprive ourselves of many things. It's not about that! What he wants is for us to renounce the disorderly and sinful impulses that try to dominate us and, instead, put ourselves in the hands of God, so that the Holy Spirit can help us lead the new life received at Baptism. The desire for self-reliance and independence and irresponsibility in what we do are attitudes that lead to unhappiness and pain. These are the things to which Jesus came to kill us!

Yes, something is lost on the cross. What thing? The slavery of sin. And what do we win? A clear conscience, freedom from sin habits, communion with God and the discovery that we are beloved children of the Most High. Jesus invites us to place our self-reliance, selfishness and habits of sin at the foot of his cross to receive there the power of the Holy Spirit and start a new life. From him comes health and liberation! Brother, do you want to be free and healthy?

"Heavenly Father, I fully trust the promise that, if I am willing to lose this life, I will gain the true life." Amen

Quien dice la gente que soy?

Mc 8, 27-33

En aquel tiempo, Jesús y sus discípulos se dirigieron a los poblados de Cesarea de Filipo. Por el camino les hizo esta pregunta: “¿Quién dice la gente que soy yo?” Ellos le contestaron: “Algunos dicen que eres Juan el Bautista; otros, que Elías; y otros, que alguno de los profetas”.

Entonces él les preguntó: “Y ustedes, ¿quién dicen que soy yo?” Pedro le respondió: “Tú eres el Mesías”. Y él les ordenó que no se lo dijeran a nadie.

Luego se puso a explicarles que era necesario que el Hijo del hombre padeciera mucho, que fuera rechazado por los ancianos, los sumos sacerdotes y los escribas, que fuera entregado a la muerte y resucitara al tercer día.

Todo esto lo dijo con entera claridad. Entonces Pedro se lo llevó aparte y trataba de disuadirlo. Jesús se volvió, y mirando a sus discípulos, reprendió a Pedro con estas palabras: “¡Apártate de mí, Satanás! Porque tú no juzgas según Dios, sino según los hombres”.

Meditacion:

Jesús les hizo esta pregunta a sus seguidores más cercanos. La gente creía que él era uno de los grandes profetas, como Juan el Bautista, que denunciaba con fuerza la vida inmoral del rey Herodes; o como el profeta Elías, que dejó en vergüenza a 450 falsos profetas y los desenmascaró en una sola demostración del poder divino. Pero ¿qué le respondieron los Doce? Parece que ellos tampoco lo tenían muy claro.

Pedro sabía que Jesús era el Mesías, es decir, que tenía un poder sobrenatural, que cumplía una misión divina y que tenía una relación especial con Dios; pero no llegaba a imaginarse una respuesta más profunda y costosa, una respuesta que implicara la cruz.

¡Qué diferentes a los nuestros son los pensamientos de Dios! El Padre envió a su Hijo, no como un fogoso profeta al estilo de Elías o Juan el Bautista, sino como un siervo sufriente, que ofrecería su propia vida para expiar nuestros pecados y reconciliarnos con Dios. Gracias a Cristo, la cruz se ha convertido en la fuente de la cual fluyen todas las gracias y bendiciones: liberación del pecado, sabiduría para vivir en este mundo y libertad frente a las fuerzas de las tinieblas. La cruz ha pasado a ser la clave de la libertad y la vida de un modo que un mesías puramente humano jamás podría lograr.

¿Quién es Jesús para ti? ¿Qué significa para ti aceptar la cruz? Las dos preguntas van de la mano, pues un Mesías crucificado ha de tener seguidores crucificados. Dios quiere que asumamos la batalla interior de decir “no” a los hábitos pecaminosos para que empecemos a disfrutar de la vida verdadera en su presencia. La única forma de librar exitosamente la batalla es fijar la mirada en Cristo Jesús, el Mesías crucificado, hacer oración y pedirle al Espíritu que nos ayude a poner a Jesús y su amor en el primer lugar de nuestra vida.

Hermano, deja que el Espíritu te lleve a la cruz hoy día; que te guíe a una libertad más profunda, tal vez a través del arrepentimiento, una mayor paciencia o un amor más intenso. Escucha la suave voz con que te susurra palabras de aliento y corrección. Confía en que, al seguirlo, él te hará pasar de la muerte a la vida.

“Señor, yo creo que tú eres el Mesías. Gracias por ofrecer tu vida por mí.”

Jesus asked this question to his closest followers. The people believed that he was one of the great prophets, like John the Baptist, who strongly denounced the immoral life of King Herod; or like the prophet Elijah, who left 450 false prophets in shame and unmasked them in a single demonstration of divine power. But what did the Twelve answer? It seems that they were not very clear either.

Peter knew that Jesus was the Messiah, that is, that he had a supernatural power, that he fulfilled a divine mission and that he had a special relationship with God; but he could not imagine a deeper and more expensive answer, an answer that implied the cross.

How different from ours are the thoughts of God! The Father sent his Son, not as a fiery prophet in the style of Elijah or John the Baptist, but as a suffering servant, who would offer his own life to atone for our sins and reconcile with God. Thanks to Christ, the cross has become the source from which all graces and blessings flow: freedom from sin, wisdom to live in this world and freedom from the forces of darkness. The cross has become the key to freedom and life in a way that a purely human messiah could never achieve.

Who is Jesus for you? What does it mean for you to accept the cross? The two questions go hand in hand, as a crucified Messiah must have crucified followers. God wants us to take on the inner battle of saying "no" to sinful habits so that we begin to enjoy true life in his presence. The only way to successfully fight the battle is to look at Christ Jesus, the crucified Messiah, pray and ask the Spirit to help us put Jesus and his love in the first place of our lives.

Brother, let the Spirit take you to the cross today; May it lead you to deeper freedom, perhaps through repentance, greater patience or more intense love. Listen to the soft voice that whispers words of encouragement and correction. Trust that, by following him, he will make you go from death to life.

“Lord, I believe that you are the Messiah. Thank you for offering your life for me. ”

Mc 8, 22-26

En aquel tiempo, Jesús y sus discípulos llegaron a Betsaida y enseguida le llevaron a Jesús un ciego y le pedían que lo tocara. Tomándolo de la mano, Jesús lo sacó del pueblo, le puso saliva en los ojos, le impuso las manos y le preguntó: “¿Ves algo?” El ciego, empezando a ver, le dijo: “Veo a la gente, como si fueran árboles que caminan”.

Jesús le volvió a imponer las manos en los ojos y el hombre comenzó a ver perfectamente bien: estaba curado y veía todo con claridad. Jesús lo mandó a su casa, diciéndole: “Vete a tu casa, y si pasas por el pueblo, no se lo digas a nadie”.

Meditacion:

El milagro que relata hoy el evangelio parece calcado de nuestra vida de cada dia.

Una y otra vez el Maestro ha tocado nuestros corazones para que cambiemos; como el ciego del relato, primero veiamos todo medio nublado, no entendiamos nada.

Pero poco a poco, con paciencia, Jesus saca de nosotros lo mejor que tenemos y comenzamos a distinguir lo importante... los hermanos que cada dia sufren, la alegria de ser Hijos de Dios, la belleza de la naturaleza.

Entonces, lentamente, comenzamos a comprender que toda nuestra vida es una sucesion de momentos de adoracion a Dios.

Y entonces comenzamos a ver.

“Amado Jesús, concédeme la gracia de confiar más en ti especialmente en mis dificultades.” Amen

The miracle that the Gospel tells today seems to be traced in our daily lives.

Time and again the Master has touched our hearts so that we change; as the blind man of the story, we first saw everything half cloudy, we did not understand anything.

But little by little, with patience, Jesus draws from us the best we have and we begin to distinguish the important ... the brothers who suffer every day, the joy of being Sons of God, the beauty of nature.

Then, slowly, we begin to understand that our whole life is a succession of moments of worship to God.

And then we begin to see.

"Beloved Jesus, grant me the grace to trust you more especially in my difficulties." Amen

Levadura

Mc 8, 14-21

En aquel tiempo, cuando los discípulos iban con Jesús en la barca, se dieron cuenta de que se les había olvidado llevar pan; sólo tenían uno. Jesús les hizo esta advertencia: “Fíjense bien y cuídense de la levadura de los fariseos y de la de Herodes”. Entonces ellos comentaban entre sí: “Es que no tenemos panes”.

Dándose cuenta de ello, Jesús les dijo: “¿Por qué están comentando que no trajeron panes? ¿Todavía no entienden ni acaban de comprender? ¿Tan embotada está su mente? ¿Para qué tienen ustedes ojos, si no ven, y oídos, si no oyen? ¿No recuerdan cuántos canastos de sobras recogieron, cuando repartí cinco panes entre cinco mil hombres?” Ellos le contestaron: “Doce”. Y añadió: “¿Y cuántos canastos de sobras recogieron cuando repartí siete panes entre cuatro mil?” Le respondieron: “Siete”. Entonces él dijo: “¿Y todavía no acaban de comprender?”

and they had only one loaf with them in the boat.

guard against the leaven of the Pharisees

When he became aware of this he said to them,
“Why do you conclude that it is because you have no bread?
Do you not yet understand or comprehend?
Are your hearts hardened?
Do you have eyes and not see, ears and not hear?
And do you not remember,
when I broke the five loaves for the five thousand,
how many wicker baskets full of fragments you picked up?”
They answered him, “Twelve.”
“When I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand,
how many full baskets of fragments did you pick up?”
They answered him, “Seven.”
He said to them, “Do you still not understand?”

Meditacion:

Yo tampoco termino de comprender.  Esta lógica del Maestro es bien rara. Como especial resulta su modo de entender las cosas, como diferente es su manera de enfocar la vida.

Comencemos con la “levadura” y la (in)comprensión.

Resulta que hay una “levadura” que fermenta la masa, pero que no es levadura limpia. Levadura farisea que vive del cumplimiento, del auto-centramiento; amasada con los méritos personales, con la autoconciencia de superioridad... Levadura herodiana que vive del abuso del poder, para el sometimiento, para la imposición, para mantener el ‘orden’… Esas “levaduras” son peligrosas, son dañinas, pero son enormemente seductoras…

Haremos bien en acoger el aviso del Maestro: “tened cuidado, tened mucho cuidado…”

Pero hay una levadura que impulsa, que nos obliga y nos lleva hacia Dios, que nos limpia de nuestro pecado y nuestra miseria. Esa es la levadura que debemos usar en nuestra vida diaria.

Y estar atentos, no concentrado "en lo pequeño" como los apostoles, mas preocupados por comer que por alimentarse de las palabras del Maestro.

Si creemos solo en lo que vemos, limitamos aquello que Jesús puede hacer en nosotros. Más bien, permite que el milagro de los panes y los peces te ayude a reconocer que Jesús quiere y es capaz de satisfacer tus necesidades. El Evangelio según San Juan nos dice que los apóstoles eventualmente entendieron (Juan 16, 30). Nosotros también podemos entender, si perseveramos en la fe y creemos en Aquel que nos ama incondicionalmente.

“Amado Jesús, ayúdame a entender y creer que tú puedes satisfacer mis deseos más profundos. Señor, confío en ti.” Amen

I don't quite understand either. This logic of the Master is very rare. How special is his way of understanding things, how different is his way of approaching life.

Let's start with "yeast" and (in) understanding.

It turns out that there is a "yeast" that ferments the dough, but that is not clean yeast. Pharisee yeast that lives on fulfillment, self-centering; kneaded with personal merits, with self-awareness of superiority ... Heroic yeast that lives from abuse of power, for submission, for imposition, to maintain 'order' ... Those "yeasts" are dangerous, they are harmful, but they are harmful enormously seductive ...

We will do well to accept the Master's warning: "Be careful, be very careful ..."

But there is a leaven that drives, that forces us and leads us to God, that cleanses us from our sin and our misery. That is the yeast that we should use in our daily lives.

And be attentive, not concentrated "in the small" like the apostles, more concerned with eating than feeding on the words of the Master.

If we believe only in what we see, we limit what Jesus can do in us. Rather, allow the miracle of the loaves and fishes to help you recognize that Jesus wants and is able to meet your needs. The Gospel according to St. John tells us that the apostles eventually understood (John 16:30). We can also understand, if we persevere in faith and believe in Him who loves us unconditionally.

“Beloved Jesus, help me to understand and believe that you can satisfy my deepest desires. Lord, I trust you. ” Amen

Mc 8, 11-13

En aquel tiempo, se acercaron a Jesús los fariseos y se pusieron a discutir con él, y para ponerlo a prueba, le pedían una señal del cielo. Jesús suspiró profundamente y dijo: “¿Por qué esta gente busca una señal? Les aseguro que a esta gente no se le dará ninguna señal”.

Entonces los dejó, se embarcó de nuevo y se fue a la otra orilla.

Meditacion:

Sabemos que Jesús es Dios y por eso tendemos a pasar por alto el hecho de que, como hombre, experimentó todas las reacciones y emociones humanas igual que nosotros. Quizás nos sorprenda la frustración del Señor cuando leemos en el Evangelio de hoy que: “Jesús suspiró profundamente”, pero él podía leer los corazones y sabía que los fariseos le pedían una señal, no porque buscaran la verdad, sino porque querían “tenderle una trampa”.

En el Antiguo Testamento, Dios revelaba su amor y hacía crecer la fe de su pueblo recordándoles los prodigios del pasado, como las plagas de Egipto y la salida del Éxodo, y les alentaba dándoles anuncios de señales milagrosas futuras. Gran parte del pueblo y sus jefes esperaban que la época mesiánica llegara con prodigios y maravillas, como sucedió en la época del Éxodo, expectativas que en general se referían a grandes triunfos en las guerras contra los paganos. Esta era la idea que prevalecía acerca del Mesías en la época de Cristo.

Posiblemente, Jesús no cumplía esas expectativas desde un punto de vista humano, pero lo hizo perfectamente en el plano espiritual. En efecto, él inauguró la salvación con los milagros que hizo y con la gran señal de ser él mismo levantado en la cruz. A diferencia de lo que hicieron los israelitas en el desierto, Jesús se negó a tentar a Dios pidiendo otras señales para ponerlo a prueba.

¿Tenemos nosotros la costumbre de pedirle señales a Dios antes de creer en su amor y su protección? ¿Reconocemos que la muerte y la resurrección de Cristo son las evidencias supremas que necesitamos para nuestra salvación? ¿Aceptamos realmente sus palabras de que “su Padre ya sabe lo que ustedes necesitan antes que se lo pidan”?

En realidad, el Señor nos ha dado señales más que suficientes, no solo de su amor sino de su deseo de llevarnos a la salvación y a la santificación. Lo que ahora falta es que nosotros respondamos con fe y obediencia, con humildad y confianza. Así descubriremos en nuestra vida la realidad de la vida eterna que comienza ahora mismo.

“Padre eterno, quiero abandonarme totalmente en tus manos amorosas.”

We know that Jesus is God and that is why we tend to overlook the fact that, as a man, he experienced all human reactions and emotions just like us. We may be surprised by the frustration of the Lord when we read in today's Gospel that: "Jesus sighed deeply," but he could read the hearts and knew that the Pharisees asked for a sign, not because they sought the truth, but because they wanted to "give him a trap".

In the Old Testament, God revealed his love and grew the faith of his people by reminding them of the wonders of the past, such as the plagues of Egypt and the exit of the Exodus, and encouraged them by giving them announcements of future miraculous signs. Much of the people and their chiefs expected the messianic era to come with wonders and wonders, as happened in the time of the Exodus, expectations that generally referred to great triumphs in wars against pagans. This was the prevailing idea about the Messiah in the time of Christ.

Possibly, Jesus did not meet those expectations from a human point of view, but he did it perfectly on the spiritual level. In effect, he inaugurated salvation with the miracles he did and with the great sign of being himself raised on the cross. Unlike what the Israelites did in the desert, Jesus refused to tempt God asking for other signs to test him.

Do we have the habit of asking God for signs before believing in his love and protection? Do we recognize that the death and resurrection of Christ are the supreme evidences we need for our salvation? Do we really accept your words that "your Father already knows what you need before you are asked"?

In fact, the Lord has given us more than enough signs, not only of his love but of his desire to lead us to salvation and sanctification. What is missing now is that we respond with faith and obedience, with humility and trust. Thus we will discover in our life the reality of eternal life that begins right now.

"Eternal Father, I want to abandon myself totally in your loving hands." Amen

Un lugar desolado

Mc 8, 1-10

En aquellos días, vio Jesús que lo seguía mucha gente y no tenían qué comer. Entonces llamó a sus discípulos y les dijo: “Me da lástima esta gente: ya llevan tres días conmigo y no tienen qué comer. Si los mando a sus casas en ayunas, se van a desmayar en el camino. Además, algunos han venido de lejos”.

Sus discípulos le respondieron: “¿Y dónde se puede conseguir pan, aquí en despoblado, para que coma esta gente?” Él les preguntó: “¿Cuántos panes tienen?” Ellos le contestaron: “Siete”.

Jesús mandó a la gente que se sentara en el suelo; tomó los siete panes, pronunció la acción de gracias, los partió y se los fue dando a sus discípulos, para que los distribuyeran. Y ellos los fueron distribuyendo entre la gente.

Tenían, además, unos cuantos pescados. Jesús los bendijo también y mandó que los distribuyeran. La gente comió hasta quedar satisfecha, y todavía se recogieron siete canastos de sobras. Eran unos cuatro mil. Jesús los despidió y luego se embarcó con sus discípulos y llegó a la región de Dalmanuta.

GospelMK 8:1-10

In those days when there again was a great crowd without anything to eat,
Jesus summoned the disciples and said,
“My heart is moved with pity for the crowd,
because they have been with me now for three days
and have nothing to eat.
If I send them away hungry to their homes,
they will collapse on the way,
and some of them have come a great distance.”
His disciples answered him, “Where can anyone get enough bread
to satisfy them here in this deserted place?”
Still he asked them, “How many loaves do you have?”
They replied, “Seven.”
He ordered the crowd to sit down on the ground.
Then, taking the seven loaves he gave thanks, broke them,
and gave them to his disciples to distribute,
and they distributed them to the crowd.
They also had a few fish.
He said the blessing over them
and ordered them distributed also.
They ate and were satisfied.
They picked up the fragments left over–seven baskets.
There were about four thousand people.

He dismissed the crowd and got into the boat with his disciples
and came to the region of Dalmanutha.

Meditacion:

El evangelio de hoy, ultimo de la semana, me dejo un par de imagenes en mi cabeza "mucha gente en un lugar desolado".

E inmediatamente pense en un retiro. Sin duda las personas habian seguido a Jesus sin pensar siquiera en su propia subsistencia. De alguna manera, pensaban que serian satisfechos con comida, tal vez los apostoles habian traido algo...

Para Jesus, era su mision alimentarlos porque ellos habian puesto su vida en sus manos.

Y se produce el milagro. Y dejenme decirles algo, es el mismo milagro que se produce hoy para todo aquel que entrega su vida a Dios.

"Pide y se os dara" dice el evangelio pero no es que nosotros no sepamos como vivir, lo que sucede es que queremos recibir y no dar nada a cambio.

Estas personas estaban con hambre, con sed, no muy diferente de lo que encontramos hoy dia en medio de nuestras ciudades, de nuestros pueblos, y somos nosotros, los seguidores de Jesus, los del camino como se llamaban los cristianos al principio, los que debemos proveer sustento espiritual para esas almas que, en un camino de elevacion hacia Dios, hacen un alto en nuestras vidas porque estan sedientas, porque estan hambrientas de Dios.

Hermanos la vida es un desierto, de nuevo, "mucha gente y un lugar desierto" hagamos hoy dia el milagro del pan y los peces en la vida de otras personas, convirtiendo nuestra propia vida en un reflejo de la vida de Jesus.

Today's Gospel, last week, left me a couple of images in my head "many people in a desolate place."

And immediately I thought of a retreat. No doubt people had followed Jesus without even thinking about their own subsistence. Somehow, they thought they would be satisfied with food, maybe the apostles had brought something ...

For Jesus, it was their mission to feed them because they had put their lives in their hands.

And the miracle occurs. And let me tell you something, it is the same miracle that occurs today for everyone who gives his life to God.

"Ask and it will be given to you" says the gospel but it is not that we do not know how to live, what happens is that we want to receive and not give anything in return.

These people were hungry, thirsty, not very different from what we find today in the midst of our cities, our towns, and it is we, the followers of Jesus, those on the road as the Christians were called at the beginning, who we must provide spiritual sustenance for those souls who, on a path of elevation to God, stop in our lives because they are thirsty, because they are hungry for God.

Brothers, life is a desert, again, "many people and a desert place" let us today make the miracle of bread and fish in the lives of other people, turning our own life into a reflection of the life of Jesus.
