Consejos

Mt 7, 6. 12-14

GospelMT 7:6, 12-14

Jesus said to his disciples:
“Do not give what is holy to dogs, or throw your pearls before swine,
lest they trample them underfoot, and turn and tear you to pieces.
“Do to others whatever you would have them do to you.
This is the Law and the Prophets.
“Enter through the narrow gate;
for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction,
and those who enter through it are many.
How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life.
And those who find it are few.”

Meditacion:
Y atacaron a Jesús.
No había «prisas».
Sólo interesa encontrarle a él.
“Señor mío Jesucristo, recuérdame que estás presente conmigo hoy.”
Amen

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are these days in the continuation of the Sermon on the Mount and find these three tips or messages:
The first speaks of the experience of Jesus himself. The pearl or the hidden treasure (the Kingdom) cannot be offered to anyone. There are those who will only serve as a reason for scandal, rejection and even violence. A part of the Jews, blocked by their previous ideas about God and Scripture, were unable to value the precious stone of the Kingdom. And they attacked Jesus.
The early communities (when this Gospel was written) had experience of persecutions and attacks, and it was necessary to be very careful with what was said outside of them. There are events, mysteries, experiences that an outsider does not understand (or care). Discretion and prudence were indispensable.
But this advice can also be understood from the initiation practice of the early times, when there was a whole catechumenal process before the candidates were fully integrated into the community. There was no "rush". Saint John Chrysostom wrote: "If we close our doors before celebrating the mysteries and exclude the uninitiated, it is because there are still many who are too little prepared to participate in these sacraments." We must take into account the ability to listen and the dispositions of those to whom the Kingdom is announced and not rush to share our treasures with them. It is a good pastoral criterion.
The second concerns dealing with others. Deep down it is a variant of the old universal ethical principle: "You shall love ... as yourself." Each one wants for himself the best. Well the best is what we have to want and seek for others. And that, always, with everyone, no matter who is concerned and has behaved with us as he has behaved. There is always the temptation to stop being generous, kind, welcoming, etc. with those who have treated us badly, even though we have been wonderful with them. Our options and principles cannot change, conditioned by what we receive in return. It is that of our heavenly Father, who makes the sun rise over evil and good, just and unjust. What we all always need: Tenderness, closeness, forgiveness, recognition, being accepted and loved as we are, is the way to meet the other, whoever he is and how he behaves. Starting with the closest ones, of course ... but without stopping there, because «if you love those who love you, what is extraordinary about you? Don't sinners do the same? (Mt 5, 43-48).
The third uses the symbol of "the narrow door." I quote D. Bonhoeffer in his book "The Price of Grace":
The path of the followers is narrow. It is easy not to notice it, it is easy to misrepresent it, it is easy to lose it, even when you are already running for it. It is hard to find it. The path is really narrow and the abyss threatens on both sides:
+ being called to the extraordinary, doing it and, nevertheless, not seeing or knowing what is being done ... is a narrow path.
+ Witnessing to the truth of Jesus, confessing it, and yet loving the enemy of this truth, his and our enemy, with the unconditional love of Jesus Christ ..., is a narrow path.
+ Believing in the promise of Jesus Christ that the followers will possess the land and, nevertheless, go helpless to meet the enemy, suffer injustice rather than commit it ..., is a narrow path.
+ See and recognize the other man in his weakness, in his injustice, and never judge him, feel compelled to communicate the message to him, and yet; not throwing pearls to pigs ... it is a narrow path. It is an unbearable path.
At any moment we can fall. As I recognize this path as the one I am commanded to follow, and follow it with fear of myself, this path is effectively impossible for me. But if I see Jesus Christ preceding me step by step, if I only look at him and follow him step by step, I feel protected. If I look at the dangerousness of what I do, if I look at the road instead of the one that precedes me, my foot begins to falter. Because he himself is the way. It is the narrow path, the narrow gate. You only want to find him.
"Lord Jesus Christ, remind me that you are present with me today."
Amen

Juzgar

t 7, 1-5

GospelMT 7:1-5

Jesus said to his disciples:
“Stop judging, that you may not be judged.
For as you judge, so will you be judged,
and the measure with which you measure will be measured out to you.
Why do you notice the splinter in your brother’s eye,
but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own eye?
How can you say to your brother,
‘Let me remove that splinter from your eye,’
while the wooden beam is in your eye?
You hypocrite, remove the wooden beam from your eye first;
then you will see clearly
to remove the splinter from your brother’s eye.”

Meditacion:

Amen

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One of the main elements that identify us as human beings, as people, is conscience, our ability to judge, our ethical and moral sense. It is a gift from God that makes discernment possible. And this capacity always and above all works. We must face the facts: what is right, what is wrong, what is fair, what is true, what is convenient, what is ethical, what causes harm ... in order to act accordingly . And it is impossible to stop doing it: it is something that springs automatically from us.
There are judgments that we can make, and others that we have a serious responsibility to make. They cannot be renounced, for example, when we are dealing with human trafficking, the trade in children to extract organs, scams, racism and xenophobia, child abuse, labor exploitation, and economic interests that come before to the dignity of people, the defense of life ... To withdraw, to look the other way, to keep quiet, to wash your hands is to be complicit in all these things. All these human aberrations are the responsibility of the Civil Justice, they are crimes. And our responsibility as baptized, as prophets is to denounce them, never hide them.
But Jesus' words do not refer to these matters. We are in the Sermon on the Mount, and Jesus is speaking to the disciples, to his community (three times the word "brother" appears in so few lines). It would be expected that these behaviors would never occur in the Christian community. However, there can be slander, false accusations, mistreatment of the couple, corruption, manipulation of consciences ... and many others. In these cases it is necessary to judge and condemn the acts, but it is not the community's task to condemn the person.
It takes an adequate sense of justice and a good dose of prudence, "because they will judge you as you judge, and the measure you use, they will use with you." I do not know what is at the bottom of the hearts of people who act badly ethically: I do not know their history, their wounds, their obfuscations and frustrations, their true intentions. And so I must pay close attention before making a judgment. On the other hand, it can and does happen that my judgment is conditioned by the beams of my eye: my prejudices, my ideology, my own wounds and frustrations. I must inform myself well, contrast (not only with those who agree with me, "mine"), have serenity and desire to seek good, truth and justice ... wherever they come from.
It is also convenient to realize how we have a different yardstick: those who matter to us, those we love, those who feel close to the heart ... we more easily apologize, understand and forgive ... while that, By seeing in others, we condemn him without any mercy.
These past days it has become very evident to me, seeing the messages and evaluations of many on social networks regarding this pandemic and the actions of politicians and other personals: the "other" who is not of mine always has malicious intent, it is always dangerous, everything is a cause for suspicion, fake news is not fake news even if it is proven and reasoned that it is, the other never does anything right, and mine are always right and I do not have the humility to recognize my errors of judgment ... How then can you make an assessment and a calm judgment? These judgments make the other a suspect, an enemy, someone to be destroyed, and hatred, insult, contempt, rage appear ... But few of us realize these "beams" in the eye itself.
We must avoid all judgments that are not made out of love for the other. When the gospel tells us that "if we do not judge we will not be judged," it is placing immense value on compassion for the brother, even if he has failed. Jesus looks at the sinner, not to judge, but to create. His gaze performs something new in the person on whom he poses it; it becomes liberating, recreating, healing. That is why she invites us to look at the other without prejudice, without anger, without passion, to recognize them in their difference and value their capacities, limits and possibilities. It proposes us to transmit with words, attitudes and actions an availability for forgiveness and reciprocal reconciliation. It calls us to bring to light and heal our own resentment, to accept mistakes and to recognize losses in order to have the opportunity to redirect life. The other's, and perhaps also ours
I end with a beautiful prayer by Karl Rahner:
«Look, Lord, there is the other one, with whom I do not understand. He belongs to you; you have created him. If you have not wanted him like that, at least you have let him be as he is. Look, my God, if you support him, I want to put up with him and put up with him, as you put up with me and put up with me ». Amen

Corazon de Maria

Lc 2, 41-51

GospelLK 2:41-51

Each year Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem for the feast of Passover,
and when he was twelve years old,
they went up according to festival custom.
After they had completed its days, as they were returning,
the boy Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem,
but his parents did not know it.
Thinking that he was in the caravan,
they journeyed for a day
and looked for him among their relatives and acquaintances,
but not finding him,
they returned to Jerusalem to look for him.
After three days they found him in the temple,
sitting in the midst of the teachers,
listening to them and asking them questions,
and all who heard him were astounded
at his understanding and his answers.
When his parents saw him,
they were astonished,
and his mother said to him,
“Son, why have you done this to us?
Your father and I have been looking for you with great anxiety.”
And he said to them,
“Why were you looking for me?
Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?”
But they did not understand what he said to them.
He went down with them and came to Nazareth,
and was obedient to them;
and his mother kept all these things in her heart.

Meditacion:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The memory of the Immaculate Heart of Mary that we celebrate today is closely linked to the feast that we celebrated yesterday. Next to the heart of Jesus is the heart of his mother, Mary. It is surprising to see how the whole mystery of God's love, which is revealed to us in the Heart of Jesus, opens with the yes of a humble girl from Nazareth. It is a great mystery, without a doubt it surpassed Maria, but she knew how to keep everything in her heart. A heart that was open to listening to God and that knew how to abandon itself to her will.
The few New Testament texts that refer to Mary, as Alberto Valentini points out, “are strategically located and contain exceptional density. Strategic, because they are located at key moments in the history of salvation: Incarnation - Paschal Mystery - Pentecost; of an extraordinary density, insofar as they are vitally involved in such mysteries, from which their value and meaning are derived ». Of particular importance among these texts is the so-called "Gospel of the Childhood" of Luke (Lk 1-2). The evangelist as theologian and artist tells us the facts with the art technique of a painter, who is capable of representing the soul, feelings and ideas of his characters. In this sense, the Gospel of the childhood of Luke is a Christology from history. In this historical meditation of Luke there are two scenes from the childhood of Jesus, one is the moment of his birth (Lk 2, 1-20) and the one that we read today, Jesus in the midst of the doctors of the law (Lk 2, 41 -52). In both scenes a reference is made to the Heart of Mary (Lk 2, 19.51).
In light of this biblical reference to the Heart of Mary we can deduce from it two fundamental attitudes for our experience of faith: listening and cordiality. The figure of Mary is not understood without this element of listening. Faith is born from listening. When it is said that Mary "kept all these things in her heart", we can ask ourselves: What did Mary keep in her heart? What was the object of your meditation? What things did she keep in her heart? The Greek noun used by the evangelist rhémata (which in Spanish is translated as “these things”) means word, deed, event. This meaning helps us understand that Mary preserved the events she lived in which the Word of God was manifested. Like Mary, we too today must cultivate that capacity for silence and acceptance to listen to what God says to us today in the events we are experiencing.
The second attitude, cordiality, becomes very urgent and current at this time of world crisis. Cordiality takes the form of care, attention and love. Today more than ever we need that revolution of tenderness, to which Pope Francis appeals so much. If the events we have experienced in these months leave us with anything, it is the importance of caring for life in all its manifestations. No one knows this task better than a mother. Mary as a paradigm of a new motherhood teaches us that without tenderness, without a heart there is no credible prophecy. These attitudes that we contemplate in the Heart of Mary are the inspiring model for the mission of an outgoing Church.
"Virgin Mary, our mother, make the spirit of listening and cordiality be born in my heart in order to understand my brothers" Amen

Sagrado Corazon

Mt 11, 25-30

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GospelMT 11:25-30

At that time Jesus exclaimed:
"I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth,
for although you have hidden these things
from the wise and the learned
you have revealed them to little ones.
Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will.
All things have been handed over to me by my Father.
No one knows the Son except the Father,
and no one knows the Father except the Son
and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.
"Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am meek and humble of heart;
and you will find rest for yourselves.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden light."

Meditacion:
Amen

Have you ever wondered what is the origin of the feasts of the Church? Some of these are the main events of the Lord's life: Christmas, Easter, the Transfiguration and Pentecost. Other celebrations highlight a particular doctrine of our faith, such as Sunday of the Holy Trinity and the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. And then there are days like today, when we celebrate some attribute of Jesus and the Person that he is. Like Divine Mercy Sunday, the feast of the Sacred Heart is the way in which God reminds us that the door that leads us to heaven is always open. It is the way in which God invites us to approach Jesus and experience his love.
The Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus emerged in the 11th century. By the 16th century, the image of the Heart of Jesus, pierced by a spear and surrounded by a crown of thorns, had begun to gain popularity, mainly because the Franciscan and Jesuit orders had spread it. But the most important source of this devotion came from a humble Sister of the Visitation in France, Santa Margarita María de Alacoque (1647-1690). In a series of visions, Jesus asked Margarita Maria to help her establish a special feast day dedicated to her Sacred Heart. She described the Sacred Heart of Jesus as "an abyss of love to satisfy every need." In 1856, Pope Pius IX instituted this day, the Friday after the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, as a universal feast of the Church.
Today's celebration is an invitation as well as a commemoration. Jesus invites us to enter his heart; to abandon ourselves in his love and discover the power of that love that heals wounds, fuels hope and protects us from fear; invites us to discover again the intensity of the love he has for us. Nothing can ever quench it, not even the sins we commit or our unworthiness.
Brothers, let us accept this invitation today. Let us fix our eyes on the Heart of Jesus and allow his love to flow over you and lift you up to heaven.
"Lord Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make my heart be like yours." Amen

Como orar

Mt 6, 7-15
santificado sea tu nombre,
venga tu Reino,
hágase tu voluntad
en la tierra como en el cielo.
Danos hoy nuestro pan de cada día,
perdona nuestras ofensas,
como también nosotros perdonamos a los que nos ofenden;

GospelMT 6:7-15

Jesus said to his disciples:
“In praying, do not babble like the pagans,
who think that they will be heard because of their many words.
Do not be like them.
Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
“This is how you are to pray:
‘Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy Kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.’
“If you forgive others their transgressions,
your heavenly Father will forgive you.
But if you do not forgive others,
neither will your Father forgive your transgressions.”

Meditacion:
Amen

There is a toy for young children, which consists of a plastic box with holes in which the child must insert objects in the shape of a pyramid, cube or cylinder where appropriate. It is a very simple idea, but until the child has practiced and developed coordination, it is difficult to align the figures so that they fit in the holes.
Sometimes the sentence may resemble trying to put the shapes in the correct holes. How should I pray? What things should I ask for? What is a productive prayer? When Jesus taught his disciples to pray, he emphasized the main elements of prayer: keeping it simple and sincerely. The prayer of the Our Father, so well known to all, is not simply a beautiful prayer; In it the Lord teaches us how to pray.
For example, many words do not necessarily translate into a better sentence. In fact, the less we talk when we pray, the more time we will have to listen to God. Sometimes our words, even if they are well intentioned and devout, can drown what God wants to tell us.
It is in silence and simplicity that we are able to perceive the will of God and his thoughts. We can worship him ("hallowed be your name") and submit to what he wants ("your will be done"). Then we can trust that he will provide for us ("give us our daily bread today") and reconcile with him and with others ("forgive our offenses, as we also forgive"). When in prayer we try to redirect our desires, needs and point of view, God the Father allows us to know more deeply what is in his heart and mind.
That is the key to having a "productive prayer." As we spend time with God, we give ourselves to him and listen to him, he more like us. Prayer is deeper, intercession expresses greater trust in him, and repentance transforms us. Like a child who is developing his abilities, we are better able to introduce the figure into the correct hole, and during the process we approach the Lord.
“Lord Jesus, thank you for teaching me to pray without pretense. Help me to follow your guidance and to pray my prayer with simplicity. ” Amen

Recompensas

Mt 6, 1-6. 16-18

GospelMT 6:1-6, 16-18

Jesus said to his disciples:
“Take care not to perform righteous deeds
in order that people may see them;
otherwise, you will have no recompense from your heavenly Father.
When you give alms, do not blow a trumpet before you,
as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets
to win the praise of others.
Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward.
But when you give alms,
do not let your left hand know what your right is doing,
so that your almsgiving may be secret.
And your Father who sees in secret will repay you.
“When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites,
who love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on street corners
so that others may see them.
Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward.
But when you pray, go to your inner room, close the door,
and pray to your Father in secret.
And your Father who sees in secret will repay you.
“When you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites.
They neglect their appearance,
so that they may appear to others to be fasting.
Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward.
But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,
so that you may not appear to others to be fasting,
except to your Father who is hidden.
And your Father who sees what is hidden will repay you.”

Meditacion:
Amen

Jesus today offers us something interesting. Notice, prayer, almsgiving and fasting were in the Jewish society, the pillars of the religious tradition, as now it can be for us to go to mass.
But when going to mass or praying the rosary become empty and repetitive actions, they are useless.
One of the clearest signs that the Holy Spirit is working on us is to "naturalize" our spiritual practices because we feel that beautiful need to be closer to God.
But when we turn these practices into something empty or that we use only to "show ourselves", they don't work, we don't go anywhere.
Notice that Jesus tells us that the Father will reward any act of prayer, generosity and denial that we do in secret. And God is not mean.
What kind of gifts does the Father want to give us? The first and the best is a close relationship with him. A relationship where we feel his love more deeply, and trust his presence more fully.
You also want to give us wisdom for our lives. Through his word, his people and his Spirit, he wants to guide us in decision making so that we learn to act with justice, humility and compassion in relationships.
Another gift that the Lord loves to give us is the gift of community. As we draw closer to our Father, he introduces us to more and more of his children, our brothers and sisters. He brings us close to others so that we encourage one another, experience his love through one another, and help carry the burdens of others.
Like a waterfall, God's blessings and grace flow over us whenever we take a moment to pray in private, whenever we fast from complacency and whenever we give ourselves generously. Over time, these gifts change our hearts. Instead of walking carefully during the day, hoping that nothing bad will happen, we walk with confidence and even joy. We become more and more convinced that God is with us, always ready to give us a double portion of his grace.
"Thank you Father for your generosity. I want to receive everything you have for me. I trust that you will only give me good things. ” Amen
